I will do this tour again and again, it was worth every penny and second.
I enjoyed the two hour walk through the streets and alleyways on both sides of the bridge. Jo was our guide and he kept us engaged to the end. Thank you Jo for the insights. 🙏

Neon Art Painting - Hen Party
We started our Hen Party Day with Neon Art Painting in Pawn Street and it did not disappoint. We lucked out and had a DJ practising her set on the day and it just added to the atmosphere and made it so fun to paint surrounded by neon colours in the dark. Our Artist Alice made it so fun and easy but inspired creativity and luckily most of group are actual artists who lapped up every moment. We played games and there were prizes. The next day everyone text how much they enjoyed the painting the most - the list of sketches to paint is endless and fun. This is a group activity that would be ideal for any celebration or just for fun. Highly recommend.

    Best tour in Dublin!
This tour was SO GOOD! I've been living in Dublin for years and have been on loads of tours. This was by far the best and most unique. Joe, our guide, had obviously researched the hell out of the content and had a personal interest in the more esoteric side of Irish history and culture. So instead of getting the same, surface level stories you get on other tours (which are a great starting point) you see a deeper side of Dublin. My friends and I will definitely be going on more Alternative Dublin tours!

    Gay old time
We had a gay old time! I learned lots and loved getting to spend time with other queer people in the city. Well worth the time, and it’s a great price.

    Fabulous tour
This tour was a high point of my trip to Dublin. Our guide, Joe, was extremely knowledgeable about Irish history and the city's role in it. I learned so much and want to read more about this subject. Joe's passion and enthusiasm about his subject was in infectious. He is a natural teacher (and entertainer!). I could do this tour everyday.

Loved every minute of the Alternative Side of Dublin walking tour
I loved every minute of the Alternative Side of Dublin (walking) Tour I participated in yesterday. Our tour guide, Joe, was well qualified to lead the tour. He was knowledgable, erudite, insightful and entertaining and I appreciated his humanistic values which shone through in his tour. We gained insight into a number of important historical sites on the north side of the river, along with their contemporary manifestations, which we would otherwise have walked past unknowing. We finished on the south side, at an alternative cultural site which was a privilege to experience. The tour went for longer than planned - I liked that. Although billed as 'free' I would not have felt comfortable about not paying after the generosity of our tour guide in making it such an educational, enjoyable and memorable experience.

Wide view of Dublin but not our cup of tea
I can't remember our tour guide's name, but he was a little too wandering for us. The 1 1/2 hour tour went 2 1/2 hours - which I wouldn't have minded if I was more engaged. He was incredibly knowledgeable, charming, enthusiastic, full of great stories and quirky. However, we all had a tough time following his timeline - he'd start a story in one century and finish in another - we had a tough time figuring out what he was talking about (somehow he always got back to the original story, sometimes after 10 minutes or so). He also had a habit of talking while walking - which wouldn't be too bad, but he was often facing forward, away from us. He stopped doing that after we asked him not to. If you want something a little more focused that follows a clear path and sticks to the time schedule - probably not for you. If you don't mind wandering the streets with someone who knows a lot who you can ask lots of questions that he probably can answer - you might like it.

    Gay whimsy for the win
Omg everything about this tour was so great: fun, enlightening, a wild ride, villains and victors, and charming queer Irish facts. Conor was one of the best storytellers I’ve seen. Do yourself a favor and book this if you come to Dublin!

    So fun!
I recently did the Street Art Tour with Alternative Dublin, as well as the special edition, St. Brigid's weekend, Women in Street art. Both were amazing! But the Women in street art was my favourite. I couldn't believe all the street art I'd never noticed while having now been in Dublin for several years. The guides were brilliant and so knowledgeable and passionate about all the pieces they showed us. A special shoutout to Cliodhna, who was absolutely fantastic and answered every question and told loads of great anecdotes . She's such a gem! I've already recommended the tour to friends and will be keeping my eyes peeled for more similar tours from Alternative Dublin. GRMMA xx

Funny and enjoyable (even though it rained)
The guide told us about so many whimsical facts and important stories. We really enjoyed the delivery and even though, as you might already suspect, the stories were mostly pretty bleak, there were several light moments and the tour ended on a high note.

    Great fun and very interesting
We booked this tour as apart of Dry January. The worst part about a January festival is how cold it is! But I can't blame anyone for that. The tour was great. Liam was oud guide and I found him charming, knowledgeable and funny. The historical element of the tour was really appreciated as my partner was worried it would be a bit too close to home for any living family members of modern crimes. We have no issues in recommending this to people and have already done so! Thanks so much
