- Sightseer567760670310 contributionsA Dream Come True – Perfect Highlands and Isle of Skye Tour!I recently went on a three-day tour through the Scottish Highlands and the Isle of Skye, and it was everything I had dreamed of and more. Scotland has been at the top of my travel bucket list for years, and this trip exceeded all my expectations. First of all, the van was absolutely fantastic. It was new, impeccably clean, and equipped with heated seats and individual AC controls for each seat. Even on bumpy roads, it was incredibly comfortable, making the journey an absolute pleasure. On top of that, our tour guide, James F, was an excellent driver. We always felt safe and relaxed, which made the experience even better. The trip itself was so well-organized, with every detail carefully planned. We visited the most stunning and iconic spots in the Highlands and on Skye. Because we were lucky to be a very small group, James went above and beyond to personalize the experience. He made thoughtful adjustments to the itinerary to accommodate our personal preferences, taking us to a few hidden gems that weren’t part of the original plan (we really wanted to try some Highland Whiskey!). We stayed in Portree for two nights, and it was the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring. The town itself was so charming and peaceful, with its lovely harbor and cozy vibe. Honestly, Skye as a whole felt like a haven of tranquility. Visiting in December, when the island wasn’t crowded with tourists, made the experience even more special. It felt like we had the place all to ourselves, which added to the magic of it all. The true highlight of the tour was James himself. Not only was he incredibly knowledgeable, sharing fascinating facts and stories about the places we visited, but he also had a curated playlist of songs tailored to specific locations. It felt like we were part of a movie! That personal touch brought the magic of Scotland to life in a way I’ll never forget. If you’re considering a trip to Scotland, I cannot recommend this tour enough. From the breathtaking landscapes to the thoughtful planning and exceptional guiding, it was truly the vacation of a lifetime!Written 12 December 2024
- thmsa910 contributionsA day to never forgetThe Highlands are incredibly beautiful, and this tour from Glasgow is a great way to discover some of its most impressive parts! Glencoe, autumn-coloured and covered in mist, was an amazing sight, and the same goes for Loch Lomond. The sights could almost be described as otherworldly. The short hikes on this tour were fun too, and the waterfalls along the way are very pretty. The day was made even better than it already would have been by our fun little tour group and Ailsa, our tour guide. She guided our group through the Highlands with stories, great music and, most of all, she was so much fun to chat with! She's incredibly kind, and we laughed a lot during our trip. We were lucky enough to spend another day with her during another trip we booked with Experience Scotland's Wild (to the Standing Stones – but I'll save that for another review). Guides like Ailsa make tours like these days to cherish and remember. Thank you so much!!Written 13 November 2024

We went in late October, so the weather was perfect for us – not too cold, but definitely not hot. We did the tour in a small group of 8 people, which allowed for a more intimate and personalized exploration. James, our knowledgeable guide, enriched the trip with interesting stories and insights into Scotland’s rich culture and history. In the end, we felt it was a good balance between driving and time at the attractions.Written 10 November 2024
- viajantepobrinha0 contributionsMelhor escolhaMy dream trip was to visit Scotland and especially the Highlands. The idea was to do the trip by car with a friend, but it didn't work out. So, while looking for a tour, I found Scotland's Wild and went on this adventure with them. It was the best choice, being able to see the incredible landscapes without worries and in great comfort. I want to thank our guide James, who was incredible, super attentive, fun, and very patient. He definitely played a key role in making this tour unforgettable. The experience was incredible and I can't wait to go back and do another adventure with Scotland's Wild.Written 2 November 2024
- MRock670000 contributionsScotland Trip Cities & HighlandsTrip of a lifetime. Two weeks in Scotland is not nearly enough to experience all there is to see and do. From the cities of Glasgow, Edinburgh, & Stirling to the highlands the sites, the history, the arts, the people are amazing. Started in Glasgow, stayed at the Albion Hotel, great little hotel and very reasonably priced. Walking distance to Kelvingrove art gallery and museum. Must see the Salvador Dali at Kelvin grove is a must see. Took the Hop on bus tour all around the city, on and off for shopping at Sauchiehall Street, eating, tea, Modern Art Museum and then over to the transportation museum, The Glenlee sailing ship was great for tea, whose sister ship I've been on in San Francisco. Tried to go to one of the oldest pubs ever, The Saracen Head, on the east end, famous in Billy Connolly's Crucifixion comedy routine, but it may be closed certain weekdays, it was padlocked when we went, so check in advance. The fish & chips and the Indian food in Glasgow are some of the best meals anywhere. We went to the Oran Mor, a converted church and had Cullen skink, which doesn't have an appetizing name, but is a wonderful thick soup of smoked haddock. Then on to Edinburgh, the castle, the royal mile are fantastic. Also took the Hop On/Off bus, great way to get around the city and stops at all the most important places. The history of these cities is astounding. I found it fabulous to see Starbucks or the Apple store in buildings 200-400 years old. Remember to look above street level, the architecture is impressive. We then went to the Braemar Gathering, the royal games, King Charles and Queen Consort Camelia were there, and I got some great up-close photos. Privileged to see two records in weight for height, first the Braemar record, then the world record and have great pictures of both with the weight just clearing the bar. Scottish games in Scotland are different from the U.S. Not as much abouts the clans more about the events and they have different events. Caber Toss of course, hammer throw, dancing and pipes, Tug of War, and running races and in Braemar they race the hill, an old established race to the top of a local mountain and back. The day was great, but the bus broke down on the way back to Edinburgh, so it took almost 5 hours to get back. The next two days were spent with Rabbie's Tour out of Edinburgh, a tour of the highlands on a smaller bus maybe 20 people. The driver, Alastair, was perfect, knew the area, knew the history and could tell great stories, brilliant. Went to Dunkeld, a quiet little town extremely steeped in history. Beautiful Cathedral and town center right on the Tae River, only regret was not enough time there. Then through the Cairngorms National Park. Stopped at the Cairn, some of the oldest burial chambers in existence, around 2000 BC. Had some time but not enough at Culloden, some may know from the TV show Outlander, but is known for the end of the Jacobite uprising, the beginning of the highland clearances and the end of the highland way of life. An incredibly somber and historic site where survivors were given no quarter; soldiers and civilian supporters were hunted down and slaughtered. A few who escaped made it to the colonies and participated in another rebellion. It was a perfect Scottish day to tour, rain, fog, sun, very emotional experience walking the lines of battle where they were buried where they fell, names of famous and not so famous distant relatives and perhaps the saddest stones of just "mixed clans". The second day was spent in Glencoe, perhaps one the most beautiful places on earth. I've been to Yosemite, Jasper, Banff, Glacier National and now Glencoe, and I consider Glencoe easily ranks with these parks. Rivers, waterfalls, mountains, lakes, weird white beach mountain lakes, the sad and tragic history of the weeping glen, much more complicated than most imagine. I can't wait to return. No trip to the highlands could be complete without a visit to Loch Ness, and an open mind to the possibility of a Nessie sighting or at least the idea that a monster may have existed at some time when 500 million years of tectonic plates moving around finally bumped into each other to form this vast lake. We did not see Nessie, but did have a great experience at Urquhart Castle. The ruins of the castle and the views of the Loch are stunning. The Commando Memorial where the British trained during WWII before they invaded Normandy at Sword and Gold beaches for a quick stop has great views of the valley and a good place to take pictures. Stirling was another amazing city. Stayed at The Allan Park, Hotel, restaurant, bar all in one, the staff were great, very friendly, the food was excellent. The castle was fun, it had everything you would expect in a medieval castle, historic battles, births of nobilities, views of the valley, Wallace monument, The fields of Bannockburn and Stirling bridge. Scotland should not be missed. I can't wait to go back and stay longer in some of the places we only briefly visited. The people are so friendly, funny, and good natured. The cities have such energy and are filled with students from the many universities. Art, culture, history all on view and easily visited. Never got a chance to visit the islands, fish the famous rivers, or even golf the famous courses, but I will go back and soon!Written 1 November 2024
- F9678DWjackiew0 contributionsAmazing tour of Scotland with Scotland’s WildWe reached out to Scotland’s Wild on a recommendation of a friend who had used them last year. We were traveling with another couple and none of us were comfortable driving and it became overwhelming trying to research and plan a 9 day trip with so many amazing things to see and do. From the get go Scotland’s Wild listened to all our wants and desires for our trip and helped plan a perfect itinerary that met all our needs!! None of us had traveled with a Guide before so we had no idea what to expect. But our guide Calum was beyond anything we could have imagined. He was a great driver, and an informed guide. His primary concern every day was making sure we were informed, comfortable and cared for. Honestly l, I have never been so relaxed on a vacation! Every detail was covered - even making sure we had snacks and water in the van every day, always making sure we knew when the next “loo” stop was, and entertaining us with all the stories and history of this beautiful country. I could go on and on but if you are a considering a guided excursion in Scotland - USE SCOTLANDS WILD - 10 out of 10 recommend and would rate our amazing guide even higher!!!Written 7 October 2024

James was so fun, full of energy, and shared incredible details and history on our 3-day journey, along with great music to enhance the road trip. My favorite stops were the Hermitage, the Quiraing, Mealt Falls, Portree, Eileen Donan, and some sandy beaches. This was my first trip to Scotland, and I can’t wait to go back. Will definitely book another tour! Thanks, James!!Written 6 October 2024

Our guide James was excellent, adapting to our pace but also keeping an eye on the time. Having his Scottish flag with him for photos on top of the hill was a nice highlight. The hike itself is beautiful. Highly recommend it!Written 30 September 2024
- nicolehX3199RS0 contributionsBest Tour for Solo Travelers! This tour exceeded my expectations and was so much fun! As a solo traveler, I was hesitant about joining a group for three days, but it ended up being the best part of my trip. Our tour guide, James, was fantastic and very knowledgeable with the best personality. He made our adventuring fun and entertaining. His love for Scotland was contagious. We had just the right size group of people that didn't feel overwhelming and we all became friends by the end. The Highlands were incredible, and you got to experience so much of its beauty throughout the tour. I loved learning all about the history and legends that were intertwined throughout the experience. There is so much packed into this tour that it is worth it! I loved my experience with Experience Scotland's Wild and highly recommend the Isle of Skye tour! I look forward to doing another tour with them in the future.Written 29 September 2024

Before our trip, we worked with Sarah and Alum to plan all the details. They were so responsive and helped take our ideas to create a perfect itinerary, even making sure to have the correct car seats available for our 3 kids. During the tour itself, Cal was so kind, friendly, and knowledgeable, sharing so much great info about Scotland. The van was spotless, he provided delicious snacks and water, and he was so great with our kids. The places we went were beautiful and we could not have asked for a more perfect day! I highly recommend the company and especially Cal!Written 19 September 2024

Our tour guide Cal gave us an amazing experience going through the highlands by adapting to the weather and giving us wonderful views while not changing the itinerary too much. He was very courteous of how the group was doing and gave us so many recommendations during our pit stops in certain towns. Some of my favorite highlights were Dunadd Fort and the backstory behind its importance (including some folklore) and the Luss pier (which we were lucky to see as its normally included during the winter months I think). It was a 10 hour trip, but Cal helped pass the time with funny stories, Scottish history, and teaching us some Scottish slang. I definitely felt like I experienced the full Scottish experience with this tour and I would highly recommend this one among the other highland tour options.

From start to finish, every aspect of this tour was excellent! The itinerary was a perfect blend of iconic places and hidden gems. The pace of it allowed us to savor and enjoy each stop without feeling rushed. Our tour guide, Laura, was absolutely amazing! We had a blast with her and her ability to weave in historical anecdotes at the different stops.

This tour was amazing, and I definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from the big cities and see the smaller towns. So much history and beauty packed in all of it. The castles were majestic, and the short hikes had breathtaking views. Plus, our group had such an amazing tour guide, Andrew!! He serenaded us with his lovely singing voice, told decently funny dad jokes, and provided so much knowledge about the history of Scotland, adding some interesting mythical stories and legends into the mix. So if you want some fresh air, insta-worthy sites, and a great time, do this tour :)

This tour was 100% worth it. If you’re wondering if you should book, book it. Andrew was our tour guide and he was great! Not only is he knowledgeable, he is also funny, and makes the tour feel unique. A 10 hour tour can easily feel long especially with the driving time but Andrew has great timing with the stops, breaks, and engaging us during the drive. The day felt like it flew by! I liked the light hikes/walks mixed in and were my favorite times during the tour. This was such a great day and tour! Thank you Andrew for this experience!

Absolutely loved this tour. I can’t recommend it enough.
Our guide Laura was fantastic! She did a great job of facilitating conversation amongst the group (a mix of couples, friends and solo travelers). She is also a fountain of knowledge about history, culture, and even the local plants! History was shared in a conversational way that was clear and engaging.
All of the stops are beautiful and layered with history. Moreover they’re not over-run with tourists and it feels like you have them to yourself!

Cal was an excellent tour guide and host. He is a safe driver, we were given history lessons through out the tour and the tour stopped at amazing places. The photos and videos I have will never compare to the beauty we saw in person today. Our tour was a magical experience and I would definitely go again. Cal kept everyone entertained during the short drives between locations and even made sure we had time to stop for food and bathroom breaks.
At the last stop, we shared in a group toast and had a small shot of whisky (not Cal). I felt so comfortable during the tour. It was like we all came to the tour as strangers but left as dear friends, after the shared laughs and sight seeing. Definitely choose Cal to be your guide, he’s the best. “You take the high road and I’ll take the low road!” 🙌🏼🤍🏴

We had a great time with Cal! He is a great guide, sharing his knowledge with the group and ensuring we got the most out of our trip. He was also very attentive to a young college girl who got car sick (not due to his driving but can’t handle motion well) and made sure to pull over when she needed while not sacrificing any of the trip for the rest of the group. We also took Cal up on one of his meal recommendations and it was great.
We had a fabulous time and would recommend Cal and Wild Tours to others!

I haven't even made it back to the states yet, but I'm already telling friends and family back home that they NEED to visit Scotland and take a tour with James! It was the most fun, most informative, and most exhilarating guided tour I've ever had the immense pleasure of doing - and worth every penny! I loved the small group experience, we really got to know our fellow travelers. James also does a wicked car karaoke through winding highland roads. Indeed, I felt like I got to see a real, authentic side of Scotland that wasn't commercial or touristy. I was able to stand in the places where kings from an ancient iron age kingdom were crowned, and the people of that era and region lived and were buried. And while I did touch some standing stones, hoping to be transported back to 1740s Scotland, the experience more than made up for my failed attempt at time travel (Outlander reference if you haven't seen the show). This tour was truly one for the ages!

This guided tour was incredible! Our guide Jim was friendly and very knowledgeable about Scotland and its history. As three young female travellers we felt very safe.
The tour took us to places that are only reachable by car, and not public transport. This was a great opportunity because we could not rent a car and get there ourselves (too young). We also got to go to places that some people don’t even know about.
Overall I would recommend this tour to any one who wants to see more of the high lands and learn about the history of Scotland!

The tour was excellent for so many reasons. the scenery was exquisite, the weather was perfect, the group I was part of was friendly and interesting but the main reason was our guide, Laura Mackenzie.
She was so knowledgeable, told us all the pertinent history and was fun to talk to and listen to, she was great, as was her driving and scheduling. I would recommend Wild Scottish Tours 100%, Laura 100%, it was a great experience!

What time would the tour finish? I am considering taking an 11pm flight from Dublin the same night, wondering if I would have enough time to catch the flight. Also can I bring my carry on luggage to the tour?
