I booked this tour last minute when another company cancelled my tour because they didn't have enough people. This itinerary might not be the first choice for most people visiting Scotland, had I not been before I would have selected a Highlands tour or an Outlander tour but I had not been to Melrose or Jedburgh so I picked this one.

I had already been to Roslyn and Hadrian's Wall but it was nice to see them again. The tour covers a lot of ground but the time at each was enough to see all of the sites. Our guide Keith was fantastic, he talked before each site and then you are allowed to go at your own pace at the sites. He gave us multiple options at each place depending on whether you wanted to pay the admission or explore something else. On the way back he played some Scottish music.

The group size is great, I think it's limited to 16 and we had 12. Everyone was on time for each of the sites which is always important when you have so much to see.

At Roslyn I had enough time to see the Chapel and walk to see the ruins of Roslyn Castle.

At Melrose you can either see the Abbey (under masonry repair at the moment) or have lunch. If you bring your own lunch, you can easily see the town and the Abbey. There's also a nice butcher shop that sells pies and sausage rolls.

Hadrian's Wall, you can either visit Houseteads Fort or go for a short walk along the wall. bring good shoes if you want to do that as it's steep along the wall and could be muddy if you walk the lower ground.

The stop at Jedburgh is more of a photo op, the Abbey was closed (again for masonry repairs) but you can get a nice photo and wander over to see the Mary Queen of Scots house.

Our final photo stop was a beautiful view where Walter Scott's funeral procession stopped for the view.

I've done tours before with Rabbie's and this was very comparable in terms of quality and guides and the group size is the same. Just like Rabbie's, admission fees are extra (Melrose, Roslyn and Houseteads). I would definitely use this company again.

My husband and I booked the Rosslyn Chapel, the Borders and Hadrian’s Wall tour during our recent visit to Scotland. We arrived at our pickup point at 8:30 for our 9:00 tour departure. Our van arrived a few minutes later. After the 11 booked passengers were boarded, we were on our way before our original departure time. Keith was our guide for the tour. He gave us a description of the events of our tour, where we would stop to eat, restroom opportunities, and lengths of time at each stop. Throughout the trip, Keith spent a balanced amount of time giving the group historical information as well as time to listen to music and absorb the countryside. At one point he even sang to us. The amount of time at Rosslyn Chapel, and Hadrian’s Wall was sufficient. The stop that was slated for lunch (Melrose) had mostly options that give you time to either shop or eat but not both. Please plan for this if you intend on eating lunch. Most of the full-service restaurants began serving lunch at 12:00. Our meeting time of 12:45 would be difficult to make if sitting down to eat at 12:00. We took a quick pass through the shops and found a small restaurant at the King’s Arms Hotel that began serving lunch before 12:00. This gave us just enough time to enjoy a nice hot lunch and make our way to the van by 12:45. Keith invited guests to get something to go and eat it on the van if needed. One group in our party ended up eating their lunch on the van. After lunch, we made our way to Hadrian’s Wall. The countryside was beautiful and the hike up to the wall is a little strenuous but helped us work off our lunch. We spent time walking along the wall but opted not to visit the museum at this stop. It was fun walking amongst all the sheep in the pastures. On our way back to Edinburgh, we stopped at Scotts View which was visually stunning! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip and would tour with Heart of Scotland again in the future. At the end of our tour, we really wanted to tip Keith for his excellent service. We felt terrible because we had no local currency (a mistake on our part) to tip with. Please plan for this if you intend on tipping. It would be great if the company would have an option for tips to be made via credit card. Thank you, Keith, hope your daughter had a great birthday. We had a great time!

This day tour was great and our guide, Euan, did a wonderful job of driving and providing good information along the way. The Wee Red Bus (the 16-seat large van) was comfortable and it was easy to hear everything Euan talked about during the drive. Rosslyn Chapel and Hadrian's Wall were both worth seeing and the drive itself was scenic.

Angela was a phenomenal guide. She knew seemingly endless amounts of history/facts about the areas along the route. She had songs that went along with the themes of our stops, too, which was an unexpected touch. She engaged the passengers in trivia a few times. We had a rough go at one of the stops and she handled it promptly with some creative problem solving and made sure we were able to see Roslyn chapel. She was accommodating to everyone's needs and made sure we
clearly knew what was happening next, how long we had at the stop, etc. It was a long day, but an excellent one! Highly recommend.

This is going to be a long day, but it will be a great day. Our driver Keith was knowledgeable and friendly. And HE SINGS! As the day goes on, we got tired from the hiking, the touring. There was a quiet in the bus as we drove through the borders on our way back to Edinburgh. Keith opened up into a song. It was beautiful.

We booked this trip on a whim and it was phenomenal to see this area of the world.

I also really liked that Keith gave us recommendations of what is worth it and what is not. For example, when you go to Rosslyn's chapel and you go in (and you will want to go in). He walks you in, and makes sure that you are there in time for the presentation. He walks you in, it is pre arranged.

My husband and I normally do a mix of tours and independent. Honestly, the Wee Red Bus is perfect for anyone and makes it easy. The bus is comfortable. I cannot recommend this company and this tour enough.

If you have questions, ask me. If you are wondering if you should go? Say yes. JUST go. It was also nice that the bus was red, you never lost it. These buses do not work in tandem, which means that wherever you go, often times you are the only ones there. I won't disparage other companies but they often drive 2-3 at a time. The small group makes the experience so amazing.

I went on the all-day tour with Euan Alexander and the tour and, Euan, our guide was wonderful! He gave us a lot of background to help us understand "The Borders" which was all information that was new to me and gave me a whole new understanding of England-Scotland relations. He had a great sense of humor and was really helpful at advising us about lunch plans. He took us through wonderful routes so I felt I really saw the most beautiful parts of southern Scotland. I loved the chance to see the carvings at Rosslyn Chapel and Euan made sure to get us there early enough to hear the chapel guide's talk on the chapel which was very good. We had plenty of time at Hadrian's wall, although I would have enjoyed 30-60 minutes more and wouldn't have minded if we'd returned home later, but it would have been a pretty long day. I'm just so glad I took this tour!

This was our first trip to Scotland and we very much enjoyed our trip to Hadrian’s Wall and Rosslyn Chapel. The wee red bus is comfortable and the size of the tour was especially helpful in terms of getting the most out the experience. Our tour guide, Alan, was knowledgeable and offered his personal experiences as well as historical references. There is a lunch stop and an abbey but we were unable to visit it as our restaurant choice took a bit long. Be sure to take in the video at Hadrian’s Wall museum shop before you make your way to the ruins- the experience is much more informative in that order.

I loved this excursion partly because our tour guide Angela who is probably one of the best in the business. She has such an amazing gift to weave in stories and music that coincide with our experiences. She’s fun and funny and inviting and creates a very inclusive atmosphere within the group.

But along with Angela being spectacular the places we visited are so beautiful. Starting with the Rosslyn Chapel it’s just such a special place to see in person. Then onto Melrose and the adorable town adjacent to the Abby. We had lunch there and it was spectacular for such a small place the shops and restaurants are excellent.

This was a very enjoyable full-day tour leaving at a very reasonable hour (9am). Rosslyn Chapel was an unexpected historic treasure and the lunch-time stop at Melrose was long enough to wander the town centre and get some lunch. The highlight was actually getting to the wall and seeing Housesteads' fort, despite the inclement weather. The stops were long enough to not feel rushed and Callum, our driver, was very informative and did a great job.

I went on the "Rosslyn Chapel, the Borders and Hadrian's Wall" tour with Paul.
What I like most of this company are the small groups: on this occasion it was only 6 of us and Paul started the day with small talk so we could get to know the other participants and create a friendly atmosphere.
He took us to explore a beautiful region of Scotland and entertained us with very interesting stories. He also went beyond expectations taking advantage of the small size of our group to personalize the tour adding a few extra stops.
I appreciated going on a tour on low season as we were able to visit touristic sites with very few other people, the complete opposite of summer!
