Long tours can get tiring and boring after a while but not with this one! The guide (Rory) was a very cool and sympathetic man with great sense of humour! My mum and I had lots of fun and laughs with him and it was a very nice atmosphere in general. Not only do you get to see some of the most beautiful sceneries of Scotland, but you’ll also get to know some historical facts and interesting stories of this country.
The weather was on our side and when we went to Loch Ness, we took a tour through the nearby castle and a tour on the lake which was amazing as well! (This tour price is excluded)
So all in all, I highly recommend this tour to anyone who likes history, nature and also lots of fun!
P.s.: the short breaks are a great time to take pictures of the beautiful mountains and scenery + sheep herds everywhere (depending on the season) ♥️♥️

William was a great guide! From start to finish he shared interesting stories about the surrounding areas as well as a chronological account of Scotland’s history. In between this, he played a variety of Scottish music/bands including traditional and contemporary songs. While the weather wasn’t great (luck of the draw!) he and the other guides tried their best to keep us entertained.

Just note that you will spend a lot (!) of time on the bus and little time at attractions (this trip covers 500-600km over 12.5 hours). However, there are frequent stops - every 30 minutes to 2 hours allowing for plenty opportunities to buy food and stretch your legs. If you don’t take the Loch Ness boat trip (25£) you won’t get to visit the castle and will instead spend about 1.5 hours in the small village of Drumnadrochit. If you would prefer to spend more time at each stop or if you are prone to motion sickness it might be best to organise a trip yourself. If you have little time in Scotland and want a taste of the Scottish countryside this trip is perfect!

Our time in Scotland was short, but we wanted to explore the Highlands at least a bit instead of just staying put in Edinburgh. This tour was perfect for that! We had a funny and knowledgeable guide, William, who taught us a wealth of information about the history of Scotland and the Highlands specifically.
Do be aware that the stops everywhere except Loch Ness are brief, so it may be a good idea to pack some small snacks in a bag if you think you will be hungry for much more than quick bites of food here and there. I believe this is mentioned in the listing, but also be aware that the boat trip on Loch Ness is optional cost extra (however it is a discount from what you would pay if you just took the boat trip yourself). We though the boat trip was well worth it and were glad we paid for it.
If you want an easy way to see the Highlands, especially if you don't have your own car and are short on time, this is a good choice!

Not to recommend. It is essentially a full-day drive in uncomfortable small bus. The driver stopped in ugly places for coffee and lunch - not towns, just big bus parkings with huge queues for toilets and coffee. It is not possible to visit Urquhart castle without purchasing also the cruise on Lochness, which is nothing special. The stop in Pitlochry, nice small town, is only 30 mins and you are not able to see anything.

We booked Scottish Highlands, Loch Ness, Glencoe day tour on Oct 15, 2022. We spent 6 hours in the bus to get to Loch Ness and were hoping to have sometime to explore the lake and walk around. However, we were given only 15-20 minutes, it was very disappointing. Most people from our bus took a boat tour, and we thought that during that time we will explore the lake. However, we were just dropped off at a small town for an hour for "restaurants, cafes for food and for small shops", I did not travel so far to eat or see the shops. We explained our wish to the driver and asked to let us spend sometime near the lake, and thank you we had only "15-20 minutes". Honestly, I love Scotland and its beautiful nature, however, this experience was so disappointing. I wish the tour operator or the driver explained the trip details to us better that "we will not have time & chance to walk near the Lake!", it seemed as if you have to book the boat tour, otherwise, be kind just have some tea at a random town and buy some stuff from shops.

The trip is definitely not worth the money. The trip in itself costs 60P and for this you get a stop by the "Welcome to the Highlands" sign, a 10 minute stop by the three sisters and a stop by Loch Ness. If you don't buy the extra cruise for 25P you'll be stuck by a gift shop for 1 and a half hour, waiting for others to return. So in this sense, the trip costs 85P. The guide we had was good and had some jokes, but due to bad speakers on the bus and external noice, it became really difficult to hear what he said. I think that for 60P, there should definitely be more included - a more tailored trip, rather than just quick stops at the standard locations.
The highlands is really beautiful and can be really exciting to visit, but this tour didn't manage to exploit this at all.

Highly highly recommended!! Even if you are staying in Scotland for a couple of days I’d absolutely recommend you book yourself one of the highland tours it will be worth it! This day trip was the highlight of our trip to Scotland. The staff are incredibly accommodating. Our driver Brodie was amazing he went above and beyond to ensure we got the most out of our trip by keeping us entertained and sharing his Scottish history knowledge with us. Seeing the amazing and stunning scenery really made the trip feel like it was a journey. Five stars!

Young immature driver/tour guide. Did not know much Scottish history and said “I’ll have to look that up” multiple times. Played inappropriate music. Drove too fast and, on one occasion, needed to slam on the brakes (“glad you All were wearing your seatbelts”).
The driver was unfamiliar with how to get the air conditioning to work for the first several hours so we had a hot stinky small bus with every seat filled.
We had no actual quiet periods… the driver played music the whole time that he wasn’t talking.
The 13 hour round trip gave inadequate time for getting food and most stops had inadequate toilet facilities. We arrived back at 9pm hungry with few resturant choices.
I would not recommend this trip with this company

Steven B was an amazing tour guide and gave a memorable, exciting trip into the highlands. He knew the best places for photos, gave interesting facts and stories, and accompanied it all with an awesome playlist or silence for naptime after a boat ride and beer on Loch Ness. If you are traveling solo to Scotland for the first time and want to get out of Edinburgh without driving yourself, I would highly recommend this tour. And definitely try to get Steven B as your tour guide (and his kilt).

While the tour guide was knowledgeable and kind, she was boring. The bus was crowded (told 16 guests when there were 21), a rattle trap and very noisy, uncomfortable and the sound was AWFUL! The speakers buzzed and the volume varied wildly. Theme music was undiscernable. The "cruise" on Loch Ness was a rip off; very short and crowded. It was 12.5 hour day packed full if time on the bus and a few stops on the road side to snap photos. The first stop in Calandar was too early and everything was shut tight. The last stop was in Piltchary and was too late and everything was shut tight. We stopped in Fort William only long enough to get take away. The driver and the guide are the same which seems very dangerous. She would stop talking in heavy traffic, which is reasonable and safer, bit not what you expect on a tour. Very disappointing.

Thank you for taking your time to write this review. We're glad to read your guide knowledgeable and kind. You would have been on one of our 32-seater vehicles, which with 21 passengers would allow for distancing. This tour is fairly long due to distance of over 500km that is covers within the Scottish Highlands. Most people request to see Loch Ness due to the mystery of the monster and the popularity of the loch. To be able to see Loch Ness in one day, it does require a bit of driving to reach from Edinburgh. Our itinerary is designed to allow short photo opportunities with lengthier comfort stops and attraction stops. We try to ensure driving time on the tour is no more than 2 hours at once so you can get off the bus as frequently as possible. Our route covers the two main routes through the Highlands and includes the Cairngorm National Park, Loch Ness, Ben Nevis, Glen Coe, the Rannoch Moor. These places are always highly enjoyed by our passengers and receive lots of positive comments. Although, you do spend a large amount of time travelling on the bus for this tour, it is for the intention of covering a large distance in one day and to be able to see as much as possible of the beautiful Highland scenery during the journey. Perhaps our 2-day Loch Ness Shore Experience would have been a better option for you as this allows for more time off the bus and an overnight stop near Loch Ness to really enjoy the Highlands of Scotland. Thanks again for your feedback, we are constantly looking to improve our tours and as part of our customer experience review will include your valuable feedback. Kind Regards, Highland Experience Tours
