My husband and I recently booked two private tours with Matthias and enjoyed both. Matthias is fun, very knowledgeable about the locations and history of the area and makes it feel like you are taking a trip with your best friend. Matt of Galahad Tours hosted the most amazing day driving through the Coswolds and visiting several of the villages. He is brimming with all the history and interesting tidbits that make this day tour very enjoyable. Prior to booking the tour, I was somewhat disappointed about certain villages not being included in the itinerary, but Matt explained that those more well known villages are now very overrun with tourists. Therefore, he took us to several villages that were equally as beautiful and historically significant in some cases. Matt was absolutely a delight to spend the day with, and I can not recommend this tour more highly. It was worth every penny!

What a remarkable day we had with Matt. Matt promptly picked us up at our requested location and began our tour with historical, architectural and geographical history of the region. Very knowledgeable, personable and accommodating to our group of five. Key highlights included Castle Combe, Lacocke, Corsham and Bradford-on-Avon. In addition to visiting historical sites we also visited filming sites for films such as Harry Potter, War Horse, Pride and Prejudice and Downton Abbey. Lovely, captivating and intelligent host. Matt was an excellent guide. He was very knowledgeable and we learnt so much about the history of the places we visited. We had 3 generations of family members in our group & Matt also made sure everyone was well taken care of throughout. Matt was referred to me by my hotel in Bath and almost immediately upon securing a booking I was delighted by our correspondence and his specificity of places and sights. We visited Frome, Bruton, and Wells, all requested by me, on a day beautifully arranged by Matt, endlessly interesting, comfortably traveled in an immaculately maintained car, and always with history on the 'radio', facts and wonders that Matt shared non-stop! What I particularly appreciated was Matt's own curiosity, sometimes sidestepping the planned route to explore a sudden and impromptu discovery. We covered an enormous amount of ground, ending our day in the magnificent Wells Cathedral where our good fortune included choir practice with voices old and young and a clock face that is the oldest in the world - with a show of revolving knights on the quarter hour and a shoe cobbler who strikes the hour when it arrives with the number of hits matching the number of the hour. Our visit ended as we watched the swans gliding through the waters of the moat surrounding Bishop's Palace at sunset...

Chance brought us to Matthias and we could not have hoped for anything better. It started with a pick-up in style from our hotel and right away we were immersed in lots of useful information about everything around us on our way to the first stop. Matthias pays attention to every detail and has just the right amount of personal touch mixed in with a tremendous amount of knowledge. The Cotswolds were amazing with him as our guide. He made it not only interesting but also exciting, explaining all the mystery and science behind Stonehenge for instance which was at the end of our day, adding in the latest information to add to the experience. A trip to remember!

I thoroughly enjoyed my experience with Galahad Tours. I’ve done many tours around Europe, but Matt was the most informative guide that I’ve had. We have just spent the past 2 days covering so much ground and history with the wonderful Matt. Firstly the depth to his knowledge of the areas we visited was just incredible. So much insight into the history, topography, and culture delivered in a captivating and eloquent manner with a lovely balance of humor thrown in to boot. Secondly Matt is just an all round super kind and thoughtful individual. We were traveling with my elderly parents and his patience and foresight was constantly present. From being mindful of areas that were better for walking, to even thinking about practicalities such as bathroom stops, having a comfortable and roomy, new vehicle, umbrellas for all, and arranging lunch at great spots. I cannot recommend Matt highly enough. We are leaving the area with such great memories, and wish Matt the continued success of his business venture.

My husband and I used a travel agency to book our summer trip which included a full day private tour of Stonehenge and Salisbury. We knew nothing about the tour company they'd selected for us. We were simply in the hands of the travel agency and we trusted their choice. Only after the tour began did we learn we were booked with Galahad Tours. We were excited to see these areas of England which we’d never visited before. We would only be there for 2 days, staying in Bath, so we felt a tour was the best way to get the most out of our limited time. But alas, airline delays caused us to miss an entire day of our trip which left us no time at all to explore Bath itself. We were very disappointed but relieved we still had the tour to look forward to. Matt picked us up in Bath on time in his very comfortable van. On the way to Stonehenge, we expressed our dismay over missing Bath entirely. Matt was eager to help us make the most of our time. As it happens, Matt has a wealth of knowledge on Bath. Stonehenge was a must for us so we weighed the pros and cons, Bath versus Salisbury, and together we decided to change our plans on the spot. We spent the morning at Stonehenge (fantastic) then had a lovely lunch break in a delightful Cotswold pub, then toured Bath the second half of the day. We had a wonderful day with Matt, filled not only with interesting facts and history but also engaging conversation. He was simply a pleasure to spend the day with and we'd so grateful for his willingness to change course and make our day perfect for us.
