I booked onto the pre paid tour very last minute due to my friend deciding to surprise me by coming to visit, so was unsure what to expect. Honestly, the tour was better than we could’ve expected and was the right balance between informative and funny. Our tour guide Patrick knew exactly how to get us all hanging onto his every word and was more than happy to answer any questions we had at all! The 2hrs flew by and there was not a dull moment at any point. I would really recommend this tour to anyone visiting Oxford as you not only get to see some of the lovely architecture of the history, you also get to see inside some of the university buildings and gather a real insight into the history. The fact that it’s a small group is amazing too, it never felt like you were fighting for a spot to hear Patrick and we were never rushed. This is a must do attraction!

Very good shirt walking tour (2 hours) with a past student. We learned about the colleges and history of Oxford, walked past several key sites including the Radcliffe Camera, Bridge of Sighs, The Sheldonean, and outside of the Divinity School (normally we could have gone inside but it was closed that day). Also entrance to Magdalen College and Christ Church College. Well worth doing this tour if you have the time. Please note that if you want to enter the Bodlean library, you have to purchase a separate ticket (in your own time) from the reception at the Divinity School, it’s £9 and we’ll worth it id you are interested in libraries or want to see one of the Harry Potter film locations (of which there are many in the city).

This was an interesting tour presented by an undergraduate student from Exeter College.
The beautiful view from the Fellows’ Garden at the College was almost worth the price of the tour in itself - £20.
Almost. The College chapel and garden were excellent, and I don’t know if every tour includes these. But the rest of the tour was conducted from the street, in our case in biting winds and literally snow!
Even in good weather this was less than expected of a paid tour - 9 people at £20 each should have included some interiors of the major buildings.
The tour start is easy to find, and our guide was personable. The tour began and ended on time, near Waterstones which has a cafe and loo as well a nice range of gifts, in addition to books.
A little more time for photography would have been good, but then again almost everything we saw was entirely public so you could do that later yourself.

I specifically booked the premium free Harry Potter and Oxford University Tour for my children to see the Devinity lecture hall and Bodilian library which were featured in the films. Our guide Matthew was funny and informative but didn’t take us into the locations listed in the tour plan or inside any other university buildings. It was very large group of over 20 people which may have been the reason he didn’t take us into the buildings. We payed the suggested charge of £40 for out family of 4 which I now regret paying because on reflection this was not a Harry Potter Tour. I left feeling very disappointed with the experience.

We visited Oxford for a day and pre booked a tour to learn a few things about the city and its history.
We woke up to torrential rain forecast all day and wondered if the tour would be cancelled?
Undeterred by the weather and feeling hopeful we made our way to the meeting point on Broad Street and were met by Ollie who told us "we never cancel tours! " So off we went.
Ollie was very friendly and clearly enjoyed sharing his extensive knowledge of Oxford and its history with 8 very wet but fully engaged sightseers!
The tour lasted 2 full hours, covered quite a distance and lots of beautiful historical sites and accompanying stories. We also asked lots of questions which he answered every time.
I would fully recommend this tour (even in torrential rain) and hopefully you'll get Ollie as your tour guide!

We booked this tour as we had not visited Oxford before and were worried we may end up wandering aimlessly around the streets. Such a great idea. Our guide, Daniel, an undergraduate from Exeter college, was just perfect in every way. His commentary was both knowledgeable and humorous and really brought the tour to life. I would recommend to anyone visiting to book this tour to really get a feel for not only the beautiful buildings that make up the University but also an insight and understanding of what life is like as a student of Oxford University. The two hours was over in a flash such was the interest in what Daniel was imparting.

Simple to book and conveniently located in the centre of town, this two hour walking tour was a great way to explore the city and gain insight into its famous Oxford university.
What really helped is the tour was presented by an Oxford alumni, Trevor was engaging and brought an air of authenticity that we you were looking for. A must if you’re visiting Oxford.

This tour is a must when in Oxford. Our guide was Jessica, a South African student at the university, who was incredibly knowledgeable and informative, who made just over two hours pass very quickly with her interesting tour of the many university buildings. Our group was small with only seven people and is great value. We highly recommend this tour

Our Guide Anastasia was fantastic, animated and jamb packed the 2 hours with lots of stories, from a famous king to renown writers, from theology and religious studies to stories of wizard world.
At sub-zero temperature, she kept the group entertained and tour interactive from beginning to end.
As a first timer joining a walking tour. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Oxford.

Not sure what the difference is between the tour we did £50 per couple and the free tour?
Advert a little miss leading as I thought the price included entry into more places….. (or any places for that matter).
Maybe id stick to the free tour next time and give a tip at the end and just buy entry into places. (£50 is a little overpriced for what you actually get).
Tour guide was okay, but if Im being truthful mostly information about the student tour guide herself (which is okay for a short while). But not a massive amount of hidden gemz and fun facts regarding the history of Oxford/Oxford University. I honestly found more facts on YouTube (which was not really covered by the guide).
I think £50 could be better put towards entry to the sites instead of standing outside pretty much all of them.
**Sorry for a bad review but honestly very over priced!**

Does this tour currently come with inside access to view the Bodleian Library? This is for a tour in July 2022

No, you don’t go inside the library, but you do walk through the courtyard and hear some history about the place.
For the "Oxford University Tour with University Alumni Guide", do you have access into the Duke Humphrey's portion of the Bodleian Library or the library in general? I'm seeing mixed reviews.

Hi! We just visited the Divinity School, also part of the Bodleian Libraries but not the Duck Humphrey's portion. The guide had the tickets prepared for all of us. Hope this helps!

Some of the tours you can choose from include entrance to some of the colleges, ours went into one of the colleges, and we got to see their Halls, Chapel and quadrangle. We took a separate tour on another day to see inside the famous Library, well worth it.

Probably best check with the tour company. I did this tour 2 weeks ago, it’s all outside with no time spent indoors, stopping outside the buildings in turn over the 2 hour period. You can pay to go into individual colleges (the ones that are open at present) afterwards if you want, charges vary from about £5 (Carfax Tower) to £18 (Christchurch). There were no dogs on the day I was there, but I don’t imagine a well behaved dog would hinder the tour.

If I book a tour for 4 people is it just us and a guide. Or will we be part of a larger group.

Hi. It would be part of a larger group but what they did with us was to split the groups up into around 10 or 12 with more than one tour guide so the group numbers never got too large. I cant recommend these tours enough. They provide so much information and insight that you never get from just wandering around. They also show you places you probably wouldn't find and will want to go back and see after the tour is ended.
