About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- nicholsw20200 contributionsAwesome Day TourVal had a great wealth of knowledge she shared as she was driving us around. She was entertaining and funny also. There was a perfect balance escorting us around to the sites but gave us time to explore on our own. The " secret place" was a great way to end our tour seeing a quaint village. We highly recommend this tour with The English Bus! Thank you Val!Written 26 November 2024
- Andrew H0 contributionsEducational, entertaining, and excellent! The day trip to Stonehenge, Bath, and a secret place was nothing short of spectacular. Our tour guide, Val, was a wealth of knowledge and relayed it in an incredibly entertaining way. Weaving everything from the history and latest scientific discoveries to the stunning countryside into an unforgettable experience. It was an all day adventure and we couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you Val for making our first trip to London one we will always treasure!Written 25 November 2024
- VooDooTravelerr0 contributionsOutstanding tour - recommend 110%!!!!Absolutely fantastic tour (22 November 2024) with Tony, our guide and driver, and Philip (our van) to Stonehenge, Bath, and the secret place at the end. Tony is a brilliant guide and made it a very educational/informative tour for us. Extremely knowledgeable, and he's car guy and F1 guy on top of that! I cannot stress this enough: if you are on the fence about this tour, don't hesitate whatsoever! You'll be glad you did and you get out of central London for a day!!Written 22 November 2024
- 933lynnem0 contributionsLynne and JanetIt was my first time in London and I was really looking forward to Stonehenge. We arrived at the meeting point and anxiously waited for our van. Val pulled up and our adventure began. Not only was Val extremely knowledgeable, she made the ride to Stonehenge fun, and entertained us with her quick wit and funny stories. Unfortunately, upon arriving at Stonehenge we were caught in an unbelievable downpour and we were not able to see anything. We left for Bath, loved it, and had a snack at the secret place. Back on the road, Val once again entertained us as we headed for London. To sum it up, The English Bus experience is worth every penny. From the communication with the company, to the guide (Val) and the small group. I highly recommend this company and plan to see Stonehenge again, hopefully, not in the rain.Written 6 November 2024
- N8896EJlouisr0 contributionsHappy English Bus TourFUN, Fantastic, and an all-around great small group tour. When I initially booked this tour, there was a mix-up with the dates, but after contacting this agency, they were wicked nice and accommodating adjusting the tour to the correct date. Not a lot of other tour agencies would adapt. I am glad they did because our tour guide (Cara Withers) made everyone feel like family when we met up with them. She was very knowledgeable, and cheerful, and never made us feel rushed. We did the Canterbury, Dover Castle, White Cliffs, and Villages tours. With each stop, we had multiple options, the tour guide ensured all questions/concerns were addressed before getting off the bus. The bus was nice, cozy, and not claustrophobic like a big tour bus. I love the fact that the "tiny bus" could go places that a tour bus would not be able to go. I believe you will not go wrong booking with this group. I am SOOOO HAPPY I found them. Thank you The English Bus tour group :)Written 3 November 2024
- GlobeTrotting7885100 contributionsWonderful experienceWe had a fantastic experience travelling through the beautiful Somerset landscapes and thousands of years of history. Val was a fabulous guide and storyteller with all the information from the latest scientific studies. We are a family of four with two full time students. We are very historically interested and had high expectations for the trip with The English Bus, and Val really made the trip an outstanding experience full of new knowledge and insights and an even deeper fascination for history. Brilliant!Written 3 November 2024
- AmyR5870 contributionsGreat Small Group TourWe booked Directly through the English Bus and booked Stonehenge, Bath, and the Cotswolds tour. It was the perfect mix of leisure/personal time to tour around at the planned stops. We loved seeing Bath and being able to spend a couple of hours wandering around the city. Then the stop in the Cotswolds was short but a perfect way to end the day, the town was straight from a movie. Val, our guide was great!!! She was very nice and personable, providing so much information/background about what we saw while driving around and at each stop. The small group led to such a great day, with everyone being on time, getting on the bus, and not delaying any of our departures. We will keep your group in mind for any future tours/trips to London.Written 3 November 2024
- khoad8670 contributionsPerfect day trip to Stonehenge, Bath and a secret place with Cara, our fabulous guide.5/5. Relaxing, informative, and fun day with a small group let by Cara, our fabulous tour guide. We toured Stonehenge where Cara gave us expert advice on how to get the most out of our time on site and to avoid the crowds. We spent the afternoon in Bath and marvelled at the architecture. Finally, we stopped at a secret place in the English countryside. Fantastic day with The English Bus tour. Ask for Cara!Written 31 October 2024
- pdaacac0 contributionsGreat tour of Stonehenge, Bath and Castle Combe. My wife, son and I traveled with Jon (guide) to Stonehenge, Bath and Castle Combe in the Cotswolds. We had a great day. The bus tour was a perfect size, comfortable and clean. Jon gave interesting and humorous commentary along the drive to each location. We had time to explore on our own, have a snack at Stonehenge and lunch in Bath. Jon provided bottled water on the bus. The English Bus customer service folks were great. They responded to emails very quickly and accommodated a change to our booking to include our son who was visiting us from Amsterdam. We highly recommend this tour company, small yet efficient, engaging commentary without being overly chatty. A great value.Written 31 October 2024

Her knowledge, laughter, discussions were fantastic. Words can't express the experience we had and are recommending to everyone we know about The English Bus and Lucy. - U4251QPmatthewm0 contributionsGo for the guide!Super informative and fun, Jon was our guide and he was fantastic. I think the guides are the main reason to go on a tour if you already have a car, and he definitely didn’t disappoint. Would 100% recommend it! And definitely go on the walking tour in Canterbury!Written 29 October 2024
- 489pl0 contributionsHighly recommend this day trip and this tour bus!Great way to see/visit/learn about areas outside of London. Lucy is a brilliant guide and makes sure everything is running smoothly and is a rich mine of information. A truly evocative and inspiring experience that I cannot recommend enough.Written 23 October 2024

I went with my mom and dad August 22, 2017. We couldn't find the bus since our Uber dropped us off a 1/4 from the destination (construction) and I called Colin to help us find the bus after my mom couldn't hear with all the surrounding noise. After looking to the right I could see red buses leaving so I was worried and saw the London eye to my right.
He waited and guided us to a little black bus which was the English bus at the time. We were a few minutes late but we made it before we set out on our journey. I remember telling Colin we just got into London to visit my bro and I am ready to grab the bull by the horns and experience the trip! I fell asleep a few minutes later lol.
All I remember is a nice young Singapore couple we talked to for a little bit on the bus while driving before I slept. Colin was super knowledgable about the history of the UK and very personable! It was a great trip and definitely give Colin a huge raise!
Also British culture is a little different from American culture from the conversations we had on the bus so I would tell Colin you can achieve anything you set your mind to, it takes action, it takes perseverance, it takes facing your fears and most likely getting out of your comfort zone but nothing worth having comes easy in life.

Best tour we had during our entire two week vacation in the UK. Our guide and driver was Cara and she was fantastic! Great personality and lots of wonderful information about London and all the spots we visited on our tour. We were able to buy tickets in advance for entrance to the Roman Bath museum and we arrived in Bath right on time and were able to take our time in the museum and also participate in Cara's short tour of the center of Bath. Highly recommended!

Jonny (our guide) and this tour were amazing. These tours can be hit or miss, but since it was a small group, I was encouraged. It seems English Bus Tours really does pride themselves on being personal and thorough, which they are!!
Meeting for the tour was easy, Jonny was friendly and welcoming, got to know our names. He is clearly passionate about English history and shared sooo soo much interesting information with us.
I felt we had plenty of time in each site, and it was planned well so that it didn't feel like we were sitting in the car for too long, which I was nervous about. We didn't have to wait in any lines and everything was seamless.
Also – when I booked, I wasn't that interested in seeing Stonehenge, but it was way more interesting than expected.
I think this tour was more than worth the money. DO recommend!

Thank you so much for your kind words, and we are thrilled to hear that Johny exceeded your expectations! You're right - he is super passionate about sharing his knowledge and showing off our country - all wrapped up in a unique and interesting package. We are very lucky to have him as part of our small team here at The English Bus.
Stonehenge is definitely worth a visit - but it definitely helps to have a good guide to bring it to life!!
We have planned all of our itineraries to balance the travel time with exploring time, and so we are really pleased that you found the day hit the right notes.
Thank you for choosing to travel with us. We would love to welcome you back on your next visit to London - please check our website for all the details of our other offerings and we hope to see you again.

We went on this tour on the 15th August. Mr Andy Sawyer was our tour guide The best part of the tour was Mr. Sawyer He was knowledgeable , patient with the tourists and had a good sense of humour. He regaled us with stories and historical details about every place he took us. His encyclopaedic knowledge about places, events and the history made the tour memorable. He shepherded us in such a way that we never felt shepherded . He pointed out buildings and places on the way , like the brewery outside London and told us stories about them . We wish him well.

If you're researching and looking for the BEST small group bus tour company, this is it! The consistent string of 5 star reviews is well earned! I've taken many "small bus" tours in several countries and this one was just outstanding. It's a small company that gives you very personalized service from start to finish. We took the Cotswolds Village, Stonehenge and Bath tour with Tony as our guide. Tony did a wonderful job and provided lots of interesting bits of information as we traveled along. He provided us with stress free pace during what is a full day of touring. I especially enjoyed strolling the beautiful little main street in the Cotswolds Village of Castle Combe. I would DEFINITELY recommend The English Bus to everyone!

We had a wonderful day with Tony on the Stonehenge, Bath, Cotswold tour. We had spent a week touring the London sights, and it was nice to get out of the city to see a bit of the English countryside. Tony was very friendly and knowledgeable, providing commentary throughout the driving bit of the trip. When we arrived at each location we were able to go at our own pace and pursue our own interests. The van we rode in was comfortable and the group was relatively small - about 15 tourists. I highly recommend this tour! Thank you, Tony for a memorable day.

Fantastic from start to finish.
We were picked up promptly at the designated and very convenient pick up location. We were met by our charismatic guide Jonny in a very clean and comfortable van. We chose this tour because it is a small group tour with a very appealing itinerary. Jonny learned all of our names and a little something about each one of his guests. We were able to get off the main roads and see the country sides which we would not have been able to do in one of those nasty big bus tours.
We were entertained, educated and treated like special friends. I would HIGHLY recommend this or any tour the English Bus offers. From booking to end of tour it is a first class operation.

Six of us across three generations took The English Bus tour to Stonehenge, Bath and the Cotswolds. Cara, our driver and guide was great. We were on a small 16 passenger coach that got around on the smaller roads and lanes just fine. Cara was thoughtful, patient and kind. She gave us a lot of information about London as we left the city and then picked up the guided tour as we approached Stonehenge. She was clear about where and when to meet at every stop. I felt like we had adequate time at each of the stops. It felt like the tour just went deeper and deeper into the countryside. The trip from Bath to Castle Combe in the Cotswolds was on the back roads and we had some great views of the excellent English countryside. We were back at our pick up point very close to the promised eleven hours. Nice job Cara!

We had an amazing experience last week on a tour with Johny. We traveled with our kids aged 4 through 10 and he made the experience so much fun for everyone! The small group experience was fantastic. This was my second time visiting Stonehenge, the rest of my family the first, and I wanted an experience so they would get to learn
something as well. Johny was so knowledgeable about literally everything and delivered it in such a way that my kids declared our tour their favorite of the trip. So thankful we found this company and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them and use them again to visit other places!

Absolutely the BEST tour we have done!! The small MBZ tour bus was very comfortable, and has dual charging ports at each seat, glass roof and huge windows, and great A/C that is controlled for each seat.
ANDY was our Guide, and he is fabulous. He shared all kinds of interesting facts and information, but didn’t over-talk as some guides do. Andy is also extremely considerate and makes sure all of his group are comfortable, and have their needs met. He also made some slight deviations to the schedule based on our feedback.
I also was afraid that there was too much time at Stonehenge, and not enough time in Bath and Cotswolds, but it ended up the time allotted for each of the the locations was perfect! Each location was much more amazing than we expected, as we aren’t the type to enjoy tours that seem touristy. Lots of great shopping and cafes all over Bath as well!
Highly recommend traveling on one of The English Bus tours with Andy!!

Is there time to get off the bus and walk around Castle Combe?
Written 6 September 2022
Yes, we had 30 minutes in the village. More than enough time to explore the village, the church, the cemetery and to have a pint at the pub.

In the details section for what is excluded in this tour, it states "Entry/Admission - The English Bus". What does that mean? Isn't The English Bus part of the tour?
Written 9 June 2022
Like Jeffrey L.'s question above, what is the additional cost of this trip if the English Bus is not included? Why isn't that included in the cost of the trip?

How long are you on the Cotswold. Do you have time to walk around?
Written 28 May 2022
If the English bus is not included in the cost, and by what I’ve seen on the the English bus’s website the cost per is £114 ($150), does that mean the cost for one adult is $300? (Not including the cost of Stonehenge).

Hello!
Thanks for getting in touch - apologies for the slightly delayed response - TripAdvisor doesn't notify us of questions here - for a same day response please contact us through our website.
This tour runs between April and October - we don't operate the tour in the winter months due to limited daylight hours. We do, however, operate our Stonehenge, Bath and Secret Place small group tour throughout the year - and you do get to pass through the southern Cotswolds on this tour, and we will see a number of small and beautiful villages on route.
I hope this helps - anything else we can assist with please contact us directly.
Many thanks,
Chris
