Overview
Immerse yourself in the wild scenery of the Lake District—and try out an outdoor activity that’s unique to the area—on this adventurous tour. Ghyll scrambling involves donning a wetsuit, helmet, and other equipment, and climbing, sliding down, and hopping from pool to pool in the Lake District’s ghylls, or mountain streams. For this small-group activity, choose from morning or afternoon departure times—and prepare to get wet.
What to Expect
After meeting your instructor and the rest of the group, we will fit and put on the high quality full length wetsuits. We also supply waterproof jackets, helmets and some amazing Ghyll shorts! Then it time to take a short (10-15min) walk up old mine access track to the start of the Ghyll scramble.

There will then be a 5min safety brief, and a short explanation of what challenges will be coming up, depending on the current water levels etc.

Finally it's time to jump into the water, and after getting our balance after the first slide, we're away - sliding / jumping and climbing our way down the fast flowing river, taking on the many varied obstacles and challenges - dare you tackle the washing machine?!

Suitable for all, as long as you are confident in water - being a strong swimmer is NOT required, this activity is fun for all the family, or as a challenge for a group of friends or those out for a blast!

After approx. 1 hour, we will come out of the bottom of the ghyll, and after a short walk along a road, we will be back at the van to dry out, change and warm up!

The whole experience lasts between 2.5 - 3 hours depending on group speed.
