About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Global647501621010 contributionsA brilliant tourWe had an amazing time with our extremely knowledgeable guide, Ian. We focussed on the impact of Cambridge on the Reformation and vice versa. Really went above and beyond the call of duty for our visitors from Mississippi. Thank you, Ian!Written 7 August 2024
- CaptainNW0 contributionsDo you want an intelligent, articulated history tour of Cambridge?Bobby A. led us through the city centre for a bit longer than two hours. The history of Cambridge and its motivations from the perspective of influence of Christianity was of the highest interest. Our guide was obviously a very intelligent cultivated man, whose passion for history made a difference! Definitely worth taking the tour.Written 4 February 2024

- daleb1490 contributionsInformative TourWe were lucky to have Joshua, our tour guide, to ourselves on January 3. He gave us very good insight into the Roman history of the city and the evolution of the various colleges. We were able to enter a few colleges that we had only walked by before. Just returned to our hotel following a very enjoyable walk around Cambridge lead by the outstanding Dave. A must for any history buffs - you learn so much about what shaped the city's religious, economical and educational past, right back to Roman times.
A special word for Dave who lead the group during the two hour trip in the midst of Storm Dennis but still maintained his humour whilst retaining a multitude of facts!

The guide Dave was a fantastic source of information about the sites and wove together a compelling story of all the places and characters. His emphasis on the Christian element was surprising and extremely interesting and even inspiring. The high point was the link he drew to the Mayflower and the Genesis of the USA. Well worth the time although it was cold! Dress well at this time of year.

We were absolutely blown away with our experience of the walking tour we took with Bobby! Coming from Australia and meeting my friend from Germany we originally felt at a loss of what to do within the city. Upon booking this tour we were left with such a positive experience and would definitely come back. Over 2.5 hours Bobby kept us completely engaged as he walked us throughout the city precinct to learn the fascinating history of Cambridge including its churches, universities, and its people. There was so many interesting facts that we had no idea about. My friend from Germany has limited English and she even found the information fantastic. We are in our early 30s and our tour had people aged 18 to elderly and it suited all of us physically and mentally in terms of content. The bonus of the tour is that it is limited to 10 people making it much more personal and you are able to access two colleges providing absolute value for money. The tour guides are also very passionate volunteers who have an eager interest in the content, making the tour a wonderful experience.
We cannot recommend this tour enough!!

David gave a really excellent tour of Cambridge. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of Cambridge and the different colleges. The tour was also excellent value for money compared with other tours and it's great this tour is not for profit and the money goes back to the upkeep of the church - which is the second oldest building in Cambridge. As it's difficult to compare one tour from another as they all have similar names, look for the one that leaves from the Round Church and then you will know you have the right one.

My husband, grandson and I enjoyed a tour yesterday. Dave, our tour guide and a pleasant gentleman, was a fountain of fascinating facts. So much so, that I yearned for a photograph memory to file them away in my brain!
He brought the characters, who had peopled Cambridg, over the ages, to life with his stories and made us want to know even more.
Thank you, Dave! It was a memorable experience.
P.S. This review was submitted by me, Cheryl, not my son, Michael.
I don't know why his name has popped up here!

We booked this tour because we could actually discuss content before booking it. This direct interaction beat out other options in Cambridge and was also cheaper.
Our tour guide, Ian, was full of knowledge and quickly picked up our interest areas and discussed these things in much more detail with us. Fantastic to have someone of his experience and knowledge able to share it with us. This was the absolute highlight of a trip of highlights.
Cannot recommend highly enough.

Brilliant walking tour!
My wife and I were fortunate to be the only couple on this tour on Saturday afternoon on a busy and very windy day in Cambridge. Our guide, Dave Ellerton, was simply excellent providing us with in-depth knowledge of both the history of Cambridge itself and that of the colleges themselves.
He was clearly very passionate about Cambridge and his enthusiasm ensured the near 2 hour walk was always extremely interesting. We saw many fascinating buildings, colleges and churches that we could so easily have missed without him pointing them out to us. In fact we returned the next day to visit several museums that Dave had highlighted to us.
A thoroughly enjoyable and engaging afternoon and superb value for money - highly recommended.

I should agree with the previous reviewer regarding Dave, the guide who helped us understand a lot about the colleges he took us to, and about Cambridge and its history. “...the icy fang/And churlish chiding of the winter’s wind (which bit and blew) upon our (bodies)”, to cite the old bard, did not daunt and discourage our enthusiastic Dave, who braving the elements, took us through his time machine to many places and times of Cambridge and England. My wife and I praise his knowledge, prodigious memory and professionalism. He is a walking history book.

John was our guide for this 2hour + tour & he hardly paused for breath in the information he gave us. It was a small group of 10 & despite the colleges being closed for exams, which was a little disappointing, we learnt a lot about their founders & connections & the city of Cambridge generally, which John clearly loves. His talks were lively & humorous & well worth the £12pp

My half-Italian granddaughter, her friend from Milan and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. The guide was extremely knowledgeable and informative and we liked the way he linked the history of Cambridge with British and even world history. He pointed out details of statues, coats of arms, etc. that the casual visitor might easily miss. It was a shame we couldn’t go into any of the college grounds as it was Graduation Day but we loved seeing all the graduates and dons in procession in their academic dress earlier in the day. I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to know more about this beautiful and fascinating city.
