We were a group of friends that did the tour together and really enjoyed not only Mike‘s insights & tour coverage but also his humour. Also, despite twisting his ankle en route, he soldiered on and finished the tour. Would thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone and well worth the money.Written 19 January 2025
- 363danz0 contributionsAWESOME tour with HenryThe 2-hour free and in-depth tour with Henry is ABSOLUTELY AWESOME👏! Highly highly highly recommended. The tour with Henry is more than a tour, but also an immersive performance to dive into the history of University of Cambridge. His professional, knowledgeable, and hilarious explanations made the tour incredibly fascinating and memorable. I’d be more than happy to come back to Cambridge because I’m absolutely stumbled over the entangled history between University of Cambridge and this town. Trust me! You’d experience an unforgettable tour in Cambridge if you go with Henry.Written 18 January 2025

- Fearless369703916150 contributionsGreat tour 😀Did a guided tour incl. King's College Chapel. Our guide - Rosa - was simply amazing, she gave us (the group was of 4 people) a good overview about Cambridge and its history , told us about the life there as a student and showed us around. I enjoyed every single minute and highly recommend this tour. Thanks a lot to Rosa for this experience. (Mandy)Written 9 January 2025
- marcilitinas0 contributionsBeautiful Cambridge seen in two hours! This was an incredible experience thanks to tour guide Annabelle. The two hour walking tour involved walking around the streets of Cambridge past all of the different colleges under the umbrella of Cambridge University as well as some famous Cambridge sites. There were plenty of opportunities to stop and have a look around and take photos and learn about the site that we were looking at. Annabelle made the tour very fun with lots of interesting and quirky facts about the different sites. The tour went for a perfect amount of time - not too long, not too short - and we felt as though we saw a lot of beautiful Cambridge, and it was a great way to spend our time!Written 23 December 2024
- 384h_nschenk0 contributionsAwesome experience! The tour with Sonya was amazing, I absolutely loved it!! She gave us a good insight in the history of Cambridge, the people who lived and studied here and what they achieved. All sprinkled with a nice bit of humor along the way.Written 13 December 2024
- Dawn H0 contributionsFree walking toursFootsteps free tours- our guide Sonya Nevin was excellent.very knowledgeable and informative. Has a talent to give the information in a fun, understandable, memorable way.Always ensuring that everyone could hear.Happy to answer questions. This walking tour concentrated on the colleges but a good introduction to how Cambridge evolved. As a free tour the content and delivery was exceptional. Tips at the end were accepted, but a personal choice and not made to feel it was essential.Written 10 December 2024

He did an absolutely fabulous job taking us around, and I think there was possibly no better way to explore cambridge than the way he took us around. He told a lot of facts, nice jokes, and things that you'd really wanna hear (including the mythbusting). All in all, absolutely fabulous, and would a 100/100 recommend it with Henry :)Written 19 November 2024
- bradew230 contributionsA Wonderful Tour of CambridgeFrom Henry, our fantastic and knowledgeable guide, to Henry VIII, this tour packs a lot of history about Cambridge, it's many colleges, and it's influence on society. Henry was very accommodating, never feeling rushed, and took the time to show us important details around the city. This was the perfect way to see Cambridge for the first time and experience it's rich past. A huge thanks!Written 18 November 2024

We did the Socially Distanced tour of Cambridge on Wednesday 2nd.
Firstly, I was very impressed with how the business was handling providing a tour with current coronavirus restrictions. It was made very clear on the website that it was only going to be a group of 7 people maximum, and when we arrived the guide was wearing a mask and asked us to do the same.
Overall, we felt comfortable and safe throughout the tour. Interestingly, after our tour, we saw another company with a group of 15 people ignoring the guidelines, so we were very grateful that Footprints did such a good job and stuck to the rules. I would therefore definitely recommend booking with this company.
Secondly, our guide Sonya was fantastic! Definitely, one of the better guides we have had. Her level of knowledge and professionalism was very high and she was able to answer all of our questions! We were only a small group, just 3 of us, and she did an amazing job of maintaining an interesting dialogue. I wish her all the best in future work.

I joined this free walking tour on my second day in Cambridge as a way to get to now something about the city and its renowned colleges and universities.
Our tour guide was really nice and she showed the most important colleges around the city during a really windy and cold day.
However, I have a little suggestion for guides (since I was one): people nowadays tend to have little time attentio, so try not to make the tour only about historical dates. Tell the history of Cambridge and make it captivating!

Yesterday I went on the Cambridge University and City Walking Tour and had a great experience! The tour guide had a great collection of stories and city history to share at particular sites. She was friendly and answered all questions thoroughly!
While I had to leave halfway through the tour in order to catch a train, I am sure the second half would have been great as well. If I make it back to Cambridge, I will be sure to do this tour again!
One thing to note is that as it's a free walking tour, the guides make money entirely through tips - be sure to bring some cash along.

Booked the tour online expecting to go in buildings or grounds in Cambridge. After meeting at Kings college we set off with our guide Alice . A busy day ( graduation day ) , so many people on the streets and at times a little difficult to hear what was being said . We wandered round for 1 1/2 hours and saw plenty of things that you could find yourself quite easily . Alice was lovely and informative but we did not go anywhere that was special ( thinking maybe wander round a college garden or grounds maybe 🤔) . Certainly not value for money , done quite a few walking tours ( see my reviews ) and this one just did not wow or surprise me . At the price of £46 for the two us , cannot really recommend, just do your own thing , you’ll find most things without much effort .

This is not our company - we have never had a guide called Alice work for us - this visitor used a competitor. We have requested the user remove this incorrect review

Fantastic tour and Cordelia was an amazing guide. I did the free tour where you pay what you think it is worth, and I wish I had been able to give more because it was so educational. You learn the good and the ugly of the university city from millennia ago to what it is today.
Your guide brings you through the streets of Cambridge while also taking you to spots where you aren't being interrupted by other tourists. If you are in Cambridge, I would 100% suggest taking this tour. I would recommend going in the morning time so you can see the lay of the land and get some background before you start your sightseeing on your own. It's a lot of walking, but it goes by quickly.
If this is the quality of their larger tour, I think their smaller group tours must be also incredible.

We arrived expecting a large group to find it was just 3 of us, maybe as it was Valentine's day.
However, for us it meant we had a personal tour which was fantastic. Cambridge is a beautiful city and our tour guide Claudia was extremely knowledgeable, we learnt so much about the history & architecture and she even gave us tips on how to see the colleges for free. From her recommendation we went to Evensong at Kings College which was amazing. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

Sonya was excellent tour guide. She provided us with tons of information about history of Cambridge, details about University of Cambridge and she took us around to see most of the historic center. The tour was not only information, but also fun and entertaining. Even though we had very large age range in the group, Sonya made it very engaging for everyone. I strongly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn about Cambridge, and you can't beat the price!

Very recommendable walking tour. It is a free tour (only the tip you decide at the end) that lasts 2 hours. The guide was knowledgeable and amenable. The only thing is that you do not enter the King's College nor any other colleague. Therefore, I would recommend that you buy the entrance to the King's College Abbey afterwards (Sundays closed).

Delayed due to one guide not turning up on time. Tour was over subscribed, so no entry to kings college chapel happened, neither did entry to kings college itself. Tour guide only stopped a few times throughout the hour and a half “tour”. Poor, and could’ve done the walk on my own for free.

Fabulous tour with a really knowledgeable and interesting guide. We did the ‘free’ walking tour where we paid what we thought it was worth at the end, so gave a generous tip, as did thankfully most of the quite large group. My husband and I were with our son and his girlfriend and we all agreed how much we enjoyed it. The tour lasted about 2 hours but went very quickly. We had done a 45 minute punting trip in the morning, and were a little concerned that it could be quite repetitive but this wasn’t the case at all. Rowena was so articulate and very mindful of our safety as we walked around the city, as well as being happy to answer our questions. Thank you so much.

It has the meeting point on its website. It’s outside a Fudge shop in Trinity street. It’s a perfect spot to then go off after the tour and explore on your own or walk up to take a punt along the river. Very recommended!
