      Wonderful family adventure
Our family enjoyed the caving adventure! Our 2 children loved it most. They continue to talk about it a week later! Thank you for a unique Canmore experience!

Whatever the weather crawling in caves is cool
We did the explorer tour and it was really cool. Our guide was super knowledgeable about the caves so it was cool to hear about all the features as we went through. When we went into the cave it was snowing outside so inside the cave was actually warmer than outside. We also got to come out of the cave to a load more snow. It is obviously a pretty physical activity so we came out with a few Lil bruises from crawling around but neither of us got stuck in anything.

      Amazing day activity!
We did the explorer tour at Rats Nest in October. After a quick 30 min hike up to the cave, we geared up and entered the caves. We had Charlene as a guide who was great to educate us on local lore and the plants of the area. The caving itself was equal parts nerve racking and exhilarating. There were some optional routes one of which was very tight but fulfilling to get through. Thanks for the great adventure!

      Absolutely brilliant!
John was excellent from start to finish as the guide for our tour. I was the nervous one and probably most unfit out of us all - but he really calmed my nerves. The hike up is not the most challenging part - yes it is all up hill but as someone who walks fairly frequently it was fine. John stopped on 3 occasions to make sure we were all ok, could have some water and talk about the local geography and wild life. The challenging bit for me was getting in and getting out of the cave - both for different reasons. In - I was the first of the 7 of us so there was only Johns head torch in the cave and I just could not see where I was supposed to put my foot - however he was brilliantly reassuring and very quickly I slid in attached to the ropes safely! Inside the caves it was exceptional - yes you crawl on your hands and knees, yes there is one small space you have to go through (no smaller than a man hole - nothing to worry about), yes you slide on your bum alot and yes it is not graceful - but it is a whole lot of fun! John had an amazing attitude, was safety conscious the whole time and is an encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to the area and the cave itself. There are some tight squeezes but other than the first - they are optional. I didn't do one of them and "cheated", but the other I did! Back up the cave was a little more physically challenging, but for me the final bit out (same bit I was nervous about going in) was the biggest hurdle physically. You do need to be able to heave your body weight with your arms on very small foot holds. Took me 3 goes, but again John was very encouraging and patient. Those on the tour with me, along with John - thank you for your patience. John - you are brilliant! I would highly recommend this tour - such an insight into caving and the geology of the area. It has made me and my partner want to go again!

A fun and unique experience not to be missed!
A fun and unique experience not to be missed! Our guide, John, was patient, knowledgeable, and encouraged us to push past our comfort zones in a safe and empowering way. We learned so much about the history of the area and the cave and had a blast while doing so!

Awesome first time caving experience with kids
An experience of a lifetime. My husband and I went with our two kids, ages 10 and 12. We had John as our guide and he was very kind and patient with us, and very knowledgeable about the cave and the local wildlife on the hike up. He was an excellent guide and lead us safely through the cave as he talked about the history of it. We all had a super fun time. 10/10 would recommend.

      Awesome Adventure!
I have been wanting to do a tour of the Rat's Nest Cave since I moved to Alberta over two decades ago. I should not have waited so long! This was a fantastic day of adventure from the hike up and down from the cave entrance to the cave adventure itself. Not a dull moment and our guide Annie was fantastic! We were a small group and got to experience rappelling down into the cave, several squeezes as well as total darkness! I highly recommend this adventure to anyone that it appeals too!

      Awesome, tiring, fun adventure
We did the four hours adventure tour with our fabulous tour guide Anne. On the half hour hike she talked knowledgeable about the forest and showed us fossils. In the cave she was super supportive and relaxed, showing us how to best get down or up without making us feel inadequate. The tour itself was amazing, difficult at times but doable. We were tired afterwards but happy. Our 13 year old remarked that this tour was better than video gaming

      Great family experience!
This was just the right amount of difficult for the parents - our kids of course were up for even more! The views are incredible, even before you get into the cave. The guide was amazing - knowledgeable and friendly and reassuring!

      Experience Spelunking and Challenge Yourself
This was an amazing experience, both challenging and rewarding. This was no walk in the park, and required use of arms and legs. Our guide was lovely, informative, and very helpful providing advice on the best way to traverse rocks and climbs. I still can’t believe I was able to squeeze through some openings or climb up slick rocks.

Super fun, exactly what we were expecting
Our guide John was really awesome and patient. He had lots of titbits of information to share with us about the area, the caves history and much more. It was anAmazing authentic experience, we really liked that it was catered to our needs and the needs of our group and what we were most interested in. We would recommend it definitely.

      Awesome fun and adventure
I took my 3 daughters on the explorer cave tour(ages 12,14,16) and we had a great time. Our tour guide Annie, shared all kind of history and information about the cave and surrounding area. We have done cave tours before but this one was so much more fun, we got to crawl around and squeeze in and out of small areas throughout the cave.

      Fun/ exploring
My husband and I weren’t too sure we would like it at first, but loved it and would definitely come again to try the adventure tour with some family. It was super excited and nothing like we’ve experience before. All the history in the cave made it even cooler. Definitely recommend shoes and not cowboy boots haha

      So much fun!
This was such an incredible experience! We had John as our instructor and he made it such a fun and educational adventure. We ended up being in a group with another family of 3 with a child the same age, after a little bit the boys wanted to lead the way with guide and try every challenge they could. I’m not a fan of elevators, so I had some concerns going into this.. but John assured us that if we couldn’t get through the entrance then it was best for us not continue. It ended up not feeling too tight at all and I even did the challenge shoot! Would 10/10 recommend if your feeling up the physical and mental challenge that splunking brings.

It was a spiritual experience for me and it tested me physically and allowed me to overcome my fears of doing things with an ilieostomy. That being said it blew my mind how beautiful it was and how much life is fragile but prevails under the harshest of circumstances. I definitely recommend this experience to anyone nature at it’s purest most beautiful even in the dark there’s so much to see. My guide Grace was amazing she’s knowledgeable and intuitive and definitely deserves a raise $$$$. I can’t say enough except go open yourself to an adventure that will last a lifetime. Grace so much love to you 🙏❤️❤️❤️

John, our AMAZING tour guide, took us on a beautiful thirty minute hike to the cave entrance. There were eight, including John, and once we reached "base camp", we suited up into the provided gear over our clothing layers: Repelling gear, knee pads, gloves, coveralls, and a helmet with headlamp. We entered at the cave's natural entrance. This, along with the uneven rocky surfaces of the cave floor, made the experience very authentic and extra exciting. There were several obstacle challenges, caving technique opportunities, and, of course, rope work and repelling. We are frequent cavers, caving 2-3 times a month. Yet, I still get "inside my head" on the repels, especially when the drop is equivalent to a six story building! John recognized my trepidation and was great, reminding me to breathe and calming me as he hummed. Before I knew it, I had completed the repel. And, now that I know what to expect, we are already planning another trip back to beautiful Canmore! We were a bit sore later that evening, but by the next day, we felt great a could do all of our planned kayaking and hiking in Banff National Park.
One note: Wear GOOD traction athletic shoes. The hike up and down to the cave is a bit slippery in places. There are ropes in place in these areas so that you can pull yourself up. On my next trip, I will wear my hiking boots instead of athletic shoes. Five glorious stars!

We did the Adventure Cave Tour with John as our guide and had a blast. None of our group had ever done any caving before, and this tour was a fantastic intro to the sport. John did a great job of providing humorous commentary and interesting facts about the land, nature, and the geology and history of the cave.
The cave was about 5°, so I had double pants and a warm fleece sweater and a neck warmer inside and was comfortable for the duration. For the hike up, dress for the weather - it was -10° out for us, so I was dressed warm, but there was a tent to leave thick outer jackets and anything else before entering the cave. Good footwear is going to make a difference in the cave as there are slippery and wet areas. Take your time and watch your footing. Above all, go in with an open attitude - you might be out of your comfort zone, but it's so worth it!
I would definitely recommend booking with Canmore Cave Tours!

Fantastic experience. We’ve done a fair amount of caving before, and really appreciated the care that went into fitting us with the appropriately-sized gear, especially the coveralls (we did get dirty). Our guide, John, was knowledgeable, friendly, calming and supportive. He set a perfect pace for the half-hour hike to and from the cave, as well as during the short rappel and the cave exploration itself. Our family had so much fun. Would highly recommend for anyone who loves scrambling, squeezing, sliding and crawling around on rocks in caves.

The wife and I are adventurous and booked this experience as we had never been caving, other than the usual guided path tours. It was an amazing experience! The hike up the mountain to the cave was an indicator that this was not your typical cave tour. After a brief rest we were ready to gear up and start our caving adventure. Our guide Brent was wonderful and patient with our group. He was thorough in his directions and detailing what to expect next. The trip through Rats Nest cave was filled with many interesting things to see as well as the opportunity to crawl on your back and belly through small openings. The rappel down a sixty feet vertical descent was exciting. Brent again was patient and thorough with his guidance to ensure everyone was confident and able to perform this safely. It was an overall fantastic experience that we heartily recommend to anyone willing to take on the adventure. I will admit it was a strenuous undertaking as I was exhausted after making it back to the cave entrance. Would we do it again? H*** yeah!

This was a great experience. Our guide was great and very informative. I didn't know about this experience until we were doing another activity and someone suggested it to us. This puts a whole new perspective on going into caves and what it means to explore caves. This seems so simple before you do it (other than remembering where you've been) but that can't be farther from the truth. None of us on the tour had done anything like this before. The squeezes are actually pretty unbelievable that a person can fit through it. One of them is the size of a women's 7-8 US shoe. It's incredible. The guide was also very respectful of the cave and mother nature as he made sure to explain how 'young' the cave was as well as how long it takes for items within the cave to form. I would 100% recommend this tour as long as you're not claustrophobic or afraid of heights. My wife and I did the adventure tour which included many optional (but awesome) squeezes, alongside the 60ft repel. That was my first time repelling and it was straightforward and well explained by our guide. This was a 10/10 experience.

Challenging ourselves to do the "Laundry chute" and other narrow passages. Our guide Tiffany was fantastic with lots of encouragement and confidence in use that we could make it through the narrow sections. First time rappelling for us and Tiffany was again, fantastic ensuring our safety (with a safety rope in addition to our rappelling line) and clear instructions. Tiffany was so knowledgeable about everything from the plants on our walk, the animals we may encounter, cave formations, history of the area....kept us very engaged the entire time and the 5 hours just flew by. Best experience of my life and felt satisfying and proud I did it !

This trip was amazing. Our tour guide Jon was very professional and knowledgeable, while having a very fun yet relaxing demeanour, which made us feel very safe and comfortable for our first time exploring a cave. He was also fantastic at catering to everyone in the group, so that everyone had a unique experience that suited their comfort level.

The cave itself was fantastic. I had been wanting to do this activity for a while and am so happy that we finally did it. I would recommend this activity to everyone who is considering doing it. Words truly can not describe how surreal of an experience it is.

We watched The Descent the night before, to add a little extra thrill.

10/10 one of my favourite experiences to date.

Definitely a must do! I went solo and had so much fun exploring the cave and meeting everyone. I did the adventure tour which was a lot of fun. The 60m repel was simple and very easy to do and I felt safe the whole time. At one point I was getting claustrophobic and nerves about doing into a tight squeeze but my guide and other people on the tour helped me through it and I and I did it, it’s all mental nerves! My guide Brent was fantastic, you could definitely tell he loves what he does and shared his knowledge with us. You will definitely leave the cave learning many new facts and history about caving and what you see in the cave I went in basically knowing nothing about cave so I learned a lot!
