This tour was incredible. We had David as our main guide, we did the volcano hike first thing and we saw keel billed toucans and a jumping pit viper !! Then onto waterfall which was so refreshing. And finished the day at the hanging bridges which by the time we got there, was pretty much the park to ourselves! Kevin joined us for the this part and found a yellow eyelash viper AND blue jeans frog !!! (Blue jeans was an absolute highlight of my whole trip to Costa Rica). All in all, excellent day, great food, great knowledgeable company and guides. 100% recommend!

Great experience with Canoa! Our guide Jason was amazing for both Hanging Bridges and La Fortuna Waterfall. We highly recommend it!

This was definitely the highlight of our stay in La Fortuna! Canoa Aventura arranged a 2 hour float in the Penas Blancas river, followed by substantial snacks and a brief overview of chocolate making/tasting. We spotted crocodiles, howler monkeys, kingfishers, bats and several other animals our terrific boat guide Miguel pointed out along with useful information. The weather was cool after a spot of rain. The hot snack was served in a covered space - tortillas with local cheese and plantains, tea, coffee and even moonshine - personally my favorite was the hot sugarcane tea! We tasted dried cocoa beans, and liquid chocolate at the end. Loved all of it!

This was an excellent tour. Bryan (with a y) was an amazing tour guide and did a great job navigating us around. Our 3 year old and 6 year old loved seeing the animals. Would highly recommend for families with young kids.

This was a nice way to spend a morning! They picked us up at our rental house which was great. The guides explained the paddling was done and the safety aspects for the boats. We saw crocodiles and a variety of birds - the only thing that was tough was that we were moving fairly quickly on the water so photos were challenging. On the bus ride back to the office, we stopped to see two mother sloths and their babies which was a real treat! I would recommend wearing water friendly shoes and clothing as you do get a bit wet in the boat.

Really enjoyed the tour thanks to our guide, David. He was very knowledgeable about the animals and plant life in the park and was excited to talk about what we were seeing. The park was a bit crowded in late November, but it was beautiful and we learned a lot on the way.

The Safari float is an amazing tour and experience! Christopher was an awesome, passionate and helpful guide and we were so lucky to have him teach us about his home.

Fantastic experience with guides that share every detail along the way. Christopher was an expert in all areas, giving details on the birds, all the animals as well as flora, fauna, sounds and the geography. Honestly cannot rate this highly enough. It really was a highlight in our 3 week trip around CR. Monkeys, Crocs, Birds of all shapes and sizes, Sloth, Butterflies, Porcupines… more than I can remember. Spectacular! Ps Remember cash for a tip if you forget you will wish you had remembered. Although it’s not requested, you absolutely will want to give theses guides an extra Thank you.

We had an amazing half day trip! Our guides George and Samuel were fabulous - very knowledgeable about the ecology, wildlife, and plants. Thanks to their trained eyes we saw many creatures on the float - a variety of birds, monkeys, porcupine, otter, crocodile, iguanas, and tried to find a gato pescado (kitty fish!). We have 2 teens and George and Samuel kept them engaged the entire trip - we were laughing and learning! A calm smooth rafting trip - we did wear swimsuits but did not get very wet, only from the splash of paddles. End of raft trip and we got a delicious snack of fresh tortillas, fried plantains, queso, coffee, tea, and of course rum! The chocolate class was great for our family, it touched on the basics and samples were delicious! Transfer to and from our hotel was great and we learned a lot on the bus ride too - the guides made this trip wonderful! This tour packs a lot in for a ½ day - would highly recommend it!

I only have good things to say about this tour operator. We took two tours with them on our recent trip to La Fortuna: lava walk/ fortuna waterfall and Cano Negro. We scheduled them via our hotel and we're very impressed. Our guides (David, Jason, and Jorge) were excellent, as were our drivers. The guides spoke both English and Spanish and did a great job of educating us on what we were seeing and how to appreciate it responsibly. We saw many animals that we never would have spotted on our own. The guides each carried scopes/ binoculars and helped us take photos. Transportation was safe and comfortable, and the included lunches were delicious. I recommend this tour operator to anyone hoping to appreciate the local flora and fauna responsibly

We did the river rafting tour with a 5 and 8-year-old, and it was one of the highlights of their trip. It started pouring while we were on the raft, so luckily, we were prepared with our own ponchos (which can be purchased at the local supermarket). Recommend you pack a change of clothes to leave in the van. Saw a good variety of wildlife on our rafting trip. There was just enough paddling to keep them engaged. The chocolate part was nothing great, but the rafting portion was a great activity for our young kids.

The River Safari trip on the Peñas Blancas (which flows into a second river I’ve since forgotten the name of. Fortuna?) was recommended to us by staff at the Volcano Lodge as an alternative to the Caño Negro float (we wanted to spend as little time driving as possible). We had a great time on this trip thanks in large part to our guide, Fauricio. Among the many things he helped our raft spot were Howler and Capuchin monkeys, a sloth (albeit en route to the river, not on the river), rows of tiny bats hanging on trees, birds, a crocodile, iguanas, and more. His knowledge and appreciation of Costa Rican ecology was both impressive and inspiring. After disembarking, we were fed a snack of homemade tortillas and cheese with fried plantains (also, coffee, tea, and moonshine). There was also a short chocolate-making presentation and sampling at the farm where the river trip terminates, which was an unexpected bonus. Overall, the float was one of the highlights of our vacation that left us smiling for days. Thanks again to Fauricio (and also the pleasant, nature-loving Texans with whom we shared a raft).

Wow. How lucky we were to get George and Chris as our guides for the day! Both lovely guys who are really passionate about their culture and the local wildlife. It was so peaceful. My husband and I were lucky enough to have a raft with just ourselves and George. We could simply enjoy the views whilst seeking out nature. We then went on to have a traditional corn tortilla, coffee and homemade rum shot! Not for the faint hearted. Then a short talk about the cocoa bean. All so well thought out and great to get involved with. We also then had paid to visit La Fortuna Waterfall and have lunch! The whole day was just amazing, really worth the money and a great company to do it with. Nothing was too much trouble for George, he took plenty of photos and videos to capture as much as possible of our day without us even asking!

From the pick up at our hotel to the actual tour and close out lunch....everything was made exceptional by Jorge. Extremely knowledgeable, professional, and hysterically funny...he made the event memorable. We saw everything we had wanted to see, including Ceasar, the outcast monkey, the baby & mama howler monkey, iguanas, and even started the tour by seeing a beautiful sloth. Max, the boat captain, was fantastic. The surprise coffee/cacao pit stop was amazing. A must do activity in the area we highly recommend. Will definitely come back for a repeat tour.
