This is a 12 hour trip. Picking up everyone from each hotel requires a very early pick up time and about 2 hours just driving from hotel to hotel. Be a few minutes early for your pick up time so you don’t get yelled at early in the morning for being 1 minute late.
After picking up everyone at each resort, you stop at a gift shop for souvenirs, snacks and a bathroom break.
After that you head over to the port where there are a ton of vendors trying to sell you stuff. You get on a speed boat and go for about 30-45 minutes to the natural pool. The natural pool is nice and the boat staff gives you rum and coke and the photographers on the boat take lots of pictures.
Get back on the boat for another 20 minutes I think and arrive at Saona island where there is a buffet waiting do you. The food is actually pretty good. They serve beer on the island. Piña colada’s are $10. You stay in the island for about 2 hours… beautiful beach, more photos. A lot of people!
After the island you get on a catamaran for about 2 hours where its basically a booze cruise. Dancing and lots of drinking! Some people got into a fight on our trip…. This is the part that make this excursion, in my opinion, not suitable for kids. There’s no place to go to avoid the shenanigans and your children are basically watching everyone get belligerent and grind on each other with their thong bikinis. Fun for young adults without children…. I wish they would have told us ahead of time.
While at the catamaran , the photographer shows you your beautiful photos and give you an absurd price which you can negotiate. They’re such nice guys… I wish that the price would just be fair and posted so that we didn’t have to play this game.
Finally, you arrive back at the port where you get back on the bus and drive for another 2 hours dropping everyone off. They don’t warn you to use the bathroom before leaving the catamaran…. Bus driver had to stop in the middle of the road so our drunk friends could pee on the side of the road.
One more thing is that no one has any change for money so come prepared with change for tipping.
Bottom line: Long trip and would not recommend for children.

This was our last excursion (after having done 2 back to back) and it was the perfect way to end! This was a very relaxing and fun one! We were picked at our hotel by a small van and dropped off to get on a giant bus that took us to the beach. We waited for a bit until our speedboat arrived! I will say, the speedboat was definitely an experience 😆 it went SO fast and bumpy that everyone was holding on the the seats! It was definitely super fun and we got to see starfish in the water (since waters were very clear) and the first stop was the natural sandbar beach where we swam for 30min and drank the rum and coke provided. After, we got back on the speedboat and arrived to the island. Since our specific group had the speedboat first, we were the first to arrive to the sandbar/island which was perfect because we got to claim the beach chairs first 🙌🏻 The food, I may be biased because I’m Dominican, was SO GOOD! The beans were authentic in taste and everything else in the buffet was great! The bar was also open and included the beers and rum and coke. If you want a piña colada or a coconut drink, it will be starting at $10. The water was beautiful as well. After 2.5 to 3 hours we began to head back on a Catamaran which also included rum and coke/beer and music throughout. Since it was on the catamaran, the drive back took a while which was perfect because you got to enjoy the deep blue waters and the beautiful sights on your way back.

Day before the trip we received notification of the time and place we will be pick up. As promised we were picked up from the main hotel lobby at 6:30am. From there we were brought to main meeting point where all the mini vans met.Then we get to full size comfortable bus, and we took off.Unlike many reviews there was no loud music blasted throughout the trip. Yes we stopped for 25 min at souvenir shop for shopping. However most people took the time to have a coffee and change clothing for more appropriate swimming outfit. Entire trip took about 2 hours, since the distance from our hotel to the port for Saona Island is located almost 100km. We were well aware and prepared for that.Then we drove to the boat launch for Saona Island. First we took 4 speed boats to get to the Saona. On the way we stopped for 30 min at a place called natural swimming pool which is a lagoon with beautiful crystal clear blue water. From there we jet blasted to the Island. We were there as one of the first tourists group that day. That was real blessing, we could enjoyed the beach for ourselves. The spot we stayed was incredible real postcard place. Water was warm turquoise, no seaweeds at all, and almost no waves. We stayed an the Island for 2.5hours. In the midpoint we were offered buffet style lunch with grilled meat and fresh salads. There were fresh pina colada and coconuts for purchase. On the way back we took catamaran . Trip back on that big boat was real fun. 2 hours real Caribbean party all the way back to mainland. The most important to consider. It is all day excursion so be prepared. You will not be hungry or thirsty, food and drinks are provided. Our tour guide was funny and professional, simultaneously spoke 4 languages, we had large group of Germans, also French, English, and Spanish. Bottom line, there is room for improvements but compared to the other tour we took(where we did not see half of the promised places) it was real fun and well organized. Money well spent.

Only good part was the island but only got 2.5 hours there. After a really long coach trip where we picked up more passengers from a petrol station you get on a catamaran at a busy port (only one way so could be on way back) or a speed boat. Only drinks available were glasses of coke, 7up, rum or water. They sold some dodgey looking cheese and ham empanadas on board. Some of the smarter South Americans brought their cool boxes with beer. Photographers on board and take loads of your pictures so they can sell package to you - c$7 x 25 which they eventually came down to half but we still didn’t buy. Entertainment felt fake on the boat and they come round with cheap cloth hats to entice tips from you for the staff telling you they are poor (check out their watches though 🤣). They also want tip for tour guide and driver. Half hour swim in shallow area was nice but too short as 60+ people on board and not enough seating space.
Buffet at island disappointing as hardly anything for vegetarians. Same drinks available and you have to pay for pina coladas. Island is busy as all the tour boats stop there. Return trip was by speedboat, everyone squashed and trying to wear life jackets! Once back at the port where hawkers trying to sell more tat, 20 min drive to a cigar “factory” - basically a gift shop at stupid prices. Once back on board we weren’t told we were being transferred to a smaller minibus to take us back to the coach.
Would have preferred just a boat trip to the island and back without the “entertainment”

Do you enjoy riding a bus and a boat? This one-day tour has 5 hours of transportation; one hour of waiting; and three hours of swimming.
It starts out with a 45 min bus ride; then a 20 min wait for the boat. Then there is a one hour boat ride to a sand bar where you swim for 20 minutes.
After the swim there is another boat ride of 15 minutes to a beach on Saona Island. You spend 2.5 hours on island to swim where you are fed fish & chicken and approached by many vendors.
After the beach. You hear back to the mainland. This trip consists of A 2 hour boat ride back with music. Upon arrival you wait for 30 minutes floating to be taken to the land.
When you get to the land, you walk to the bus and wait 20 minutes. Then there is a one hour bus ride back. Our bus had screaming kids. I don’t blame the kids but it’s a heck of a long day for a baby.
Then you get back to your hotel.
While on the tour, the hosts take photos and ask for $70 for the photos. On the bus ride back they tell you they have a gift for you. They give you and empty alcohol bottle with wood chips in it and suggest u add booze. Then they ask you for $20 aster it is in your hand. Most people retune it to the tour guide.
In summary the swim was good but way too much waiting and travel time. About 5.5 hours on buses and boats for about 3 hours swimming. Better to stay at resort. Would not do again.

Awful experience overall. Pick up times weren’t sent over until late the night before we were being picked up. The day of, the driver showed up 20 mins ahead of schedule and called to tell me it was time to go. I told him that we weren’t ready and I would need to round up our group before we could head over. We arrived ~ 5 mins after the time specified in the email to find out the driver had left without us with no prior warning. All attempts to reach out were unsuccessful as the driver blocked my number on whatsapp. We tried to explore a date switch/refund which were both denied, would not recommend booking with this operator.

This a full day trip, starting fm 06:30 and will take about 12hrs to come back to the hotel. So be warned. Otherwise, it was fun. We had a good guide, Papa Juan, who kept us well informed but also amused. While on the bus you will stop at the mandatory "tourist trap gift shop" but this is part of the Dominican Experience. Once arrived at the dock we took the fast boat towards Saona. Stopped at the Blue Lagoon - Natural Pool. Very crowded but it was nice. Rum and coke free bar made it a good experience. Afterwards, we arrived at the Island. You get 2 hrs there, enough time to eat lunch (basic but good) and have a swin. Be careful, the beaches are beautiful but I would recommend swim shoes because under the water there are plenty stones. On the way back we took the catamaran, and we had a pleasent, slow cruze under the Carribean Sun. Rum and coke again made it a nice experience. Only shortfall.... The photographers asking 50bucks for few photos. Not worth it
All in all for the price, I believe it's a best buy experience. If you want more comfortable conditions, I would recommend a private tour.

Great experience! I've read a lot comments and wasn't sure what to expect. The driver was perfectly on time, we have one transfer, but noting to complain was not more than 15 minutes waiting. Overall the transfer wasn't to long at least for as... not more than hour, hour and a half. Speed boat amaising. The island...paradise, of course the time there is limited for as was 2:30 min, but it is also enough to walk around,swimming and quick lunch. Katamaran for me was a pleaser, wasn't a big party, if you expect that you will be disappointed.
Overall well and quick organized.
Tips: If you want the pictures from photographer they're amazing but expensive, if you're not prepared to pay better not waist your time in photosesion.
10 dollars for pinacolada is a must!

The worst experience ever 😡. They left us at the resort for being 5 min late. We were supposed to be picked up at 6:30 in the morning from the resort's entrance and the we were there at 6:36 and their driver left at 6:34 (they've sent us a picture attesting that). When we called to reschedule our trip to Saona for another day they said that we have to pay another 20$ per person to do that. Which meant for our group of 6 another 120$. Not to say that we had to insist with about 4 phone calls do get an evidence that the driver even stopped at our resort, because they kept shutting off the call when they heard is us and what are we asking for.
Eventually we went with the resort's trips provider and the experience was amazing. Don't let the low price foul you. As most in life what you pay is what you get. We learnt that the hard way.

I am not one to complain, but this trip does not offer what is described when booking. This is a 2 1/2 hour ride in a bus that offers “zero” refreshments (which surprised me for a Caribbean destination ) We were told the first leg of the trip, we would stop for 1/2 hour to explore a waterfall and clear water pool. This never happened. As it was a 1/2 hour stop in the water to have them take photos and a few rum and cokes. (No bottled water available).
You are then transported up the coastline (5 minutes) to another spot, where a buffet is prepared for you. You then get to swim in the water for 1/2 hr before heading back on a catamaran with music and drink (except again, no bottled water).
When you get back to shore, make sure you buy something to drink as this tour refuses to buy bottled water and enjoy your 2 1/2 hr bus ride back to the hotel.
This tour is not worth the asking price.

The regular is all inclusive with all transport, lunch and beer or rum. VIP is you get a private table at the lunch beach with champagne and lobster.
