Soak in the rich history, culture and heritage of Montreal on this walking tour of Old Montreal. See famous sites such as Notre-Dame Basilica (admission fees included), Place Jacques-Cartier, City Hall and Champ de Mars, and learn about the city's amazing art and spectacular architecture from your guide, all while enjoying the quaint French charm. You can choose to tour the east side, west side or both the east and west sides of Old Montreal.
  • Choose between east, west, or full Old Montreal walking tour
  • Leave the directions and logistics to your guide while you focus on the sights
  • Included admission to Notre-Dame Basilica, one of Old Montreal's must-sees
  • In-depth commentary from your guide about Montreal's history
What to Expect
When booking, choose between the east-side (mid-morning departure) or west-side (early afternoon departure) tour. Alternatively, you can book both, which gives you a break for an independent lunch. Meet at the Notre-Dame Basilica, where your guide will give you an orientation before you enter the basilica itself (admission ticket included). Learn about Quebec’s rich religious heritage, and admire the building’s impressive stained-glass windows. From there, set out on foot through the streets of Old Montreal, leaving navigation to your guide. Listen to commentary on the city’s history, architecture, art, and culture as you visit highlights such as Sulpician Seminary, the Champ de Mars, City Hall, St.-Jacques Street, Place Jacques-Cartier, and  Place Royale. End up at the domed public market, Bonsecours Market, which is more than 100 years old. From there, you can explore further on your own with your guide’s suggestions. Since the Basilica is closed on Sunday morning, please note that it is not part of the tour on that day. However, your ticket grants you access to the Basilica during their opening hours on the same day, from 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Note, independent lunch break in between both tours when booking the 11 a.m. combo tour.

Madeline was our guide and she is a winner. Made history interesting even for those of us not too interested in history. Linked past events to current events and perspectives. Took the tour of old Montreal and discovered it was much larger than we realized....More

Itis quite a walk, not too many rests along the way. We did the East tour and in my opinion, I would pass....pretty hilly, too! Hate to say this, as the tour is terrific!

Same here. Lots of construction and stopped traffic in the Old City. You might want to park a bit outside the city near a Metro station and take to Place d’Armes.
