- jenniferkL9352LW0 contributionsSpectacular scenery and guide with extensive knowledgeThe scenery is spectacular- along the drive, as well as at the stops. Alex was a fantastic tour guide. He was extremely knowledgeable and gave extensive information during the drive, with topics ranging from Canadian history to earth science. He was also flexible about meeting times, depending on what the group was wanting to do. We were fortunate to have beautiful, sunny weather, so I decided to do the Peak2Peak gondola, as well, while I was at Whistler. (I bought a separate ticket on my own for that). I originally did not realize it was a different gondola experience than the Sea to Sky one, which is at Squamish. Shannon Falls was a beautiful stop on the way to Squamish. Highly recommend this tour and Alex!Written 22 January 2025

Jason took the time to get to know each passenger on the tour and ensured that everyone felt included and heard throughout the trip. He was unbelievably funny and knowledgeable about a wide variety of facts about the area. He also prioritized safety, making everyone feel secure and welcomed. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND taking this tour with Jason! 11/10!!!Written 21 January 2025
- ashleyz3100 contributionsSLAY JASON HOORAY!!!! YIPPEEEEEEJason was INCREDIBLE! By far one of the absolute best tour guides I have ever had on any trip. He was quick witted and the dad jokes were top tier! He told us some stories of his own life and those he has heard from others, it made for a very personable experience. Jason made an effort to get to know each of us on a personal level, calling us by name, incorporating us into his shenanigans, etc. Overall, a 10/10 experience! Would highly recommend!Written 20 January 2025
- cemrey20190 contributionsGreat tour if you want to learn some history too.I did a Whistler tour with Jason Southern, and he was awesome. He knew so much about the history of both Vancouver and Whistler and made it really interesting with some fun personal stories. He was super friendly and easy to talk to, which made the whole experience even better. I’d definitely recommend this tour!Written 20 January 2025

He was extremely accommodating, has near encyclopedic knowledge of everything “Vancouver “ and beyond and just is such a genuinely nice human being. At no time did I feel unsafe during our trip and all of the activities included made the tour the highlight of our vacation. I would definitely book with Grayline West again. - F527YOemilyl0 contributionsGood value and Knowledgeable Friendly GuideI booked this excursion last-minute, just a day before on a whim. The pickup was very convenient and easy to find. The bus was comfortable and heated which was nice as it was December. I really liked being able to leave some belongings on the bus as it was secured. The price was very reasonable considering it includes the ticket for the gondola which is already quite expensive, so if you don't have a car this is a perfect way to get out of Vancouver and see some highlights. Our guide, Alex, was amazing and provided so much information and took us to the best spots! He even offered to drop me off closer to the bus stop I needed downtown to save me some walking. Overall, I was impressed with Alex as a guide and I would absolutely recommend this tour!Written 15 January 2025

The experience is good to see the most important sports of the city in one day. At some points I had to wait almost 30 minutes to catch the next bus.
Lynn is great, some other drivers have strong accents hard to understand and not so knowledgeable about the city. Try to catch Lynn, she is the greatest, super nice and funny.
I recommend making a stop at Stanley Park, visit the aquarium, the Totems and then resume the bus tour.
Make sure you get your 10% discount at some souvenirs shops near Gastown showing your bus ticket (ask the drivers which apply).

We decided to do the hop on and hop off tour as it was snowing and we thought it would be nice to do this on a warm bus. This was the only hop on and hop off bus available on the day. When we stepped on the bus there was no proper windows (plastic covered them) and half of the seats were wet in the back due to back windows being open. The bus was freezing and there was gaps in the windows letting some nice cold air in. We couldn’t see anything and the male bus driver mumbled and talked over the recorded announcements. Did not enjoy the experience - it was a long cold ride. As it wasn’t cheap we went the next day to get some value. Lyn the bus driver was amazing and very helpful. At least we could hear and enjoyed the commentary and she supplemented the recordings beautifully. Good route to see the city but invest in some buses (and some tour guide training - less is more sometimes) if you want to run this in winter please.

There were 4 seniors in our party. We wanted to see the city of Vancouver without a lot of walking. We saw the hop on bus in Gastown and decided to ride it. We saw alot of the city, Stanley Park and all the tourist sights. The bus driver was excellent, giving us additional insights about the areas in addition to the narration. We even got a 10% discount at one of the souvenir stores, which our bus driver pointed out and said to mention the bus tour.
One of the stops was accross from our hotel so we got off to get our jackets and caught the next but to resume the rest of the bus tour. We got off at Gastown to have an early dinner and caught another bus to return to our hotel. We liked using the bus for the city tour and also for our round trip transportation for our dinner.
We noticed that most of the stops were near many of the hotels.
The busses started at 8:45 am and last pickup at 5:15 pm from starting location, Canada Place. The buses
came by each location approximately every 30 minutes.

this is a marginal service, unlike other Gray line services we have used. the bus was noisy, hot, marginally clean, with bars across the windows right where you need to look out, right in your line of vision. inexcusable. plus we had to pay $23 to park in some stupid monstrous parking structure run by the city convention bureau, which was real inconvenient to get to the bus..
the salespersons a the bus curb were very unorganized and ill-equipped. the only thing they were good at was taking our $118 for two people at ease. we never got a receipt and i had to threaten the sales turkey with having to ride on the bus with us to show we paid. unbelievable. the day was hot and the air stifling on the open air buses each time we stopped.
the only good thing about our tour was the guide, Sherry Smallwood. she's a winner.

We had tickets for 48 hours booked through our travel agent who advised there were 28 stops. There were about 16 in total on very old buses (they need upgrading as they are uncomfortable and old).
We were unable to use both days as the bus stops running around 5 p.m. We have never been in a city where they stop this early.
Our first hop on and off was run by a lady called Shiela/orLynn who overspoke the commentary and advised that to walk between Gas Town and China Town would need awareness. Thank you lovely lady for the advanced warning. There is no option to listen in any other language other than English.
To summarise - we wish we hadn't used this service.

It cost USD92 for 2 adults (Canadian dollars ring up more, so it was a nice surprise when we realized we'd forgotten about the exchange rate when we handed over our credit card. Glad we have a card with no international fees!)
We hopped on and off most off the day. It was a nice narration (recorded on some, live driver on others) as we drove around, deciding when to get on and off. With just a day to see the city, it was a great way to get the overall view and then make an informed decision on how to spend our time. We sat open top for most of the ride, until it got too cold (in May), then we moved under the plastic roof. I'd recommend it, we took the green tour which was right outside our hotel. There's a blue tour too, but that didn't seem to cover the things we wanted to see.
We stopped and walked around Stanley Park, we came back to Gastown for dinner, we got off to look at the public library (interesting architecture). Main Street/China town seems to back up to East Hastings Drive, which is a street choc full of homeless people - not pleasant! Be aware of your surroundings and stay off that particular street. The rest of Vancouver is pleasant, clean, safe and gorgeous. None of the homeless people did anything, but it just didn't feel safe.

We were a Party of 5 waiting to be "Tourists in our own town"since Spring 2020 and due to COVID-19 we finally got onboard August 14, 2020. We had a GREAT trip with commentary from Meenu. After Granville Island we were the only passengers and we stayed on board. Meenu never faltered and continued to provide lots of surprising information about the city. Art work around the city that you might easily pass. Why we have blue Fire Hydrants! Sea water! She was also great with all the passengers. She is a very safe driver for this crazy City
The bus was clean, restrictions were in place. Only open air seating was available Everyone wore masks and hand sanitizer was also available

We've taken bus tours in other cities and have never had such a terrible experience as the one in Vancouver. The buses are very old and you can barely hear the narration through the speaker system . The windows on the bus have been removed and replaced with plastic sheeting which made visibility almost nil. A sightseeing bus where you can't see the sights. Additionally, the plastic sheeting was not long enough to cover all the windows so anyone sitting towards the back (it was a rainy day) got a free shower.
There is another company running a Hop On Hop Off bus that costs $10 more. It has real windows and you can actually see out of them, what a revelation!!

It was my first time visiting Vancouver, I was happy and excited to take the tour for visiting Vancouver main attractions! I reserved the tickets for Park Route (Green Line), which passed through Stanley Park, Granville Island, Burrade Bridge, China Town and Gas Town. In the morning, I was happy that it was a sunny and warm day, which was suitable for travelling. After arriving Canada Place, the bus was quite clean and warm. The windows are clear, and I was happy that I can see the tall trees at Stanley Park through top window. In addition, Meenu was a friendly and knowledgeable driver, she kindly mentioned the map & schedule and reminded the last pick time in order to get on bus on time. During the journey, Meenu gave us the live information and elaborate the key attractive place worth for visiting and phototaking which was crucial for first time traveller in Vancouver. It really worth to join the tour!

Not worth your money. we waited two hours to hop on for the first time. At every stop after frw people got off because the lines were obviously going to be a repeat of the beginning. The prerecorded message was ok, but our first driver had given us a few more personal local facts, however, she got off at the first stop and the relief driver made it clear that he was only a relief driver. For $11 as of July 1, you can hop on and off the city bus, tram or seabus and ho anywhere in town you want. Do that!

The website FAQ says "All Tours and Hop-On, Hop-Off services require a reservation." Does this mean I can't buy a ticket at any stop, like every other HOHO I've ever been on?

Written 18 July 2022
There is a train from the airport to downtown Vancouver. Outside the train station is stop 16 of the Hop On. I do not recommend the Hop On. Maybe Uber to best places like Gastown.
Written 19 July 2022
You can buy outside the bus stations normally or online.

You can buy your tickets at the info booth in front of Canada Place. Just tell them you want a 2 day ticket. We purchased a 1 day ticket and the next day we went back with our original receipt and, for $15 per ticket, they let us upgrade for the 2nd day.
