Overview
Experience a side of Maligne Canyon rarely available to visitors on an ice walk through caverns, cliffs, and frozen waterfalls. Visit secluded locations nearly impossible to access without a guide, who points out ancient fossils and provides context about the natural formations around you. Safety gear, ice cleats, and round-trip transport from your Jasper accommodation are included.
What to Expect

The tour starts with a pick-up from your centrally-located Jasper hotel. After being outfitted in proper safety and ice-walking gear, relax in the comfort of a warm minibus and let your guide navigates to Maligne Canyon for you.

On arrival, begin the trek through the canyon at an easy pace. Going with a guide ensures you avoid the stress of reading maps and plotting routes on your own.

While you explore secluded caverns and frozen waterfalls, your guide points out ancient fossils and provides an overview of the canyon's history and ancient geology.

At the end of the ice walk, climb back into the warmth of the minibus. The tour ends back at the entrance of your Jasper accommodation.

Great ice walk

Carly, our guide from Maligne Adventures was great. She was very knowledgeable and showed us where to walk and gave us a hand when needed. I would not do the walk without a guide.

Call the operator directly but I do not think so as I believe our guide said that the tour only runs until the beginning of April as after that the canyon becomes inaccessible due to melting ice.
