Overview

See Jasper National Park from the water on this scenic float trip. The journey takes approximately 2.5 hours as you cruise past wildlife and mountain scenery, down the Athabasca River on a 25-foot (7 meter) raft. The class II river ranking means a few gentle rapids but mostly flat water on a ride that is suitable for all ages 2 years and up.

What to Expect

Set off for the Athabasca River from the train station in central Jasper or arrange for pick up from your hotel. An afternoon of relaxing on the river is in store as you and your family sit back and let your guide do the rowing.

Learn about the human and natural history of Jasper National Park from your guide, and stay on the look out for wildlife in their native habitat. Plastic ponchos are provided as some splashes are expected but for the most part, this is a very gentle ride that is enjoyable for all but the very youngest babies.

At the end of the trip you are offered pictures to buy from the photographer who accompanied you as a souvenir of your time on the Athabasca River.  Return to your point of departure in Jasper about 2.5 hours from the time you left.

Loved this !!!

This was a good idea, lasts about an hour - hour n half. Coach up the river where you board your raft and then slowly float back, be prepared to get wet haha. Very good activity for all ages.

The raft company had a bus that took our group from the hotel ..... to where we got in the raft ..... then the raft company met us at the end point - where we could order photos etc - then their bus took us back to the hotel!
