Do this tour first!!!! The information is so rich - you’ll want to have the perspective to better enjoy everything else you do on the Baja California Sur peninsula. The tour is very professionally organized. As soon as you make a reservation, you receive immediate, informative correspondence. You know exactly what to do and where to meet. And the tour is punctual - 1 1/2 hours exactly without being rushed. Kristian was our guide and he was spectacular! The tour covered ancient history and current history, geography, geology, Mexican culture, Spanish culture, food traditions, native agriculture and animals, economics, other attractions, and SO much more, in the beautiful town of San Jose del Cabo. Best of all, the tour fee funds youth education so that all the new residents (population growth in San Jose is exploding!) of the area share the culture and take pride in their new home. Wonderful experience. Win-win for tourists and residents. Exceeded expectations.

Taking this tour was an absolutely amazing experience for my family of five. We were greeted by a friendly and knowledgeable host and took us back through time in San Jose. We walked beautiful paths of the city and learned about the history behind architecture, geography, the native people to los Cabos and so much more. I was concerned that the age difference between mine early 60s parents and mid 20s guests would have challenged the attention of some, but this tour was fascinating, fun and held our attention throughout. I would recommend this experience for anyone who calls themselves a local in los Cabos and for tourists who have fallen in love with such a rich city. This tour is not only educational for visitors it also educates local youth about the history of their home, connecting them to a location-based identity. (For some extra fun, we booked this tour on a Thursday night during San Jose’s downtown art walk.)

This was a fantastic tour. We met some new friends from Canada and explored a side of San Jose del Cabo that we didn’t know before. So learning occurred, and kristian offer local tips, restaurant recommendations, and his historical tour. In addition, we found out that he is a volunteer and our fee goes to pay for historical field trips for k-12 kids to cover expenses such as bus and lunch. So it was fun to find out that our fee was helping the locals kids learn the history of San Jose and we got a “free” tour in addition. I would highly recommend it. Lots of fun, tips and tricks. Two thumbs up!! 👍👍

Great tour for learning about the amazing history of the area from a local. Kristian is the best guide and a great storyteller, and we (two adults) and our two teenage kids loved it. This is not a company but a community project, and by participating you are supporting a local cause.

When we were here (December) the tours took place daily at 6.00pm-7.30pm and started at a café in the art district of San Jose del Cabo. You instantly get a confirmation and the guide is great at communicating prior to the tour, and happy to offer any advice after the tour as well.

We’re so happy we took this tour, we’ve learned so much and appreciate the area even more now. All family agrees that this is the best tour we’ve ever been at!

We highly recommend the tour to anyone traveling through Los Cabos. The tour points out many details about San Jose that you may not notice at first glance, as well as refute any inaccuracies you might have heard about the areas history. Our guide was a captivating storyteller and super accommodating. The tour is very thorough and goes over geography, wildlife and the inhabitants that make San Jose special. There is an option to stay for an extra 20-30 minutes at the end that ties all the history together into the present day. The proceeds from this tour also help to support the local youth. Overall, an enjoyable and enlightening experience.

Super fun. Would recommend to pretty much anyone: families with kids, serious history buffs, those looking for local tips and tricks from a 4th generation San Jose local. Tour is an easy walk with plenty of chances to sit or use the restroom if needed, covers the entire history of baja, from its geologic formation to community and culture today, and is told through engaging stories about real places you get to see in person. Most importantly, these tours help teach you how to support and protect the interests of the local community, and help fund free educational tours for local school groups. Not only do you get to learn a lot about San Jose's past and present, but the cost of your tour goes right back into supporting the future of this quickly growing community!

Kristian is a gem - to be honest, history was a sore subject for me and it never touched me in the way that it did on this tour where it was interactive, carried special inside notes, held robust stories featuring adventure and evolution, I was fascinated which isn’t actually normal. The time flew by and none of it was wasted by some of the other traps you might find on other tours, everything included had its purpose and tied together in a lovely culmination of prose and truth. It’s easy to tell that the experience included was genuine and well researched, this is definitely a necessary pit stop for being in the area and being a mindful addition to the community for however long you might be staying. This tour adds pride to being a conscientious visitor and even then once you are aware of Los Cabos’ transgressions, you can’t help but love it in the fullest way that goes beyond its more obvious beauty. Take this, don’t hesitate, it came to me well recommended via friends and locals so seriously, this is the one. Hint hint if you find yourself with a bunch of additional questions or even just wanted good company my dad and I asked Kristian to tamales afterward and were able to engage in an even deeper conversation over the locals of the area, how best to support the community, how to leave a minimal footprint while making a beneficial impact, Kristian was awesome and took all of these wonderings with ease. Enjoy this!! His roots are evident and it was a good sign to see wavings from many of the people/kids we’d pass by. 1000% would recommend and yes that added zero is intentional!

As mentioned by other reviewers, this is a good short walking tour to help orient visitors unaware of San Jose’s history and culture. It is very cool that the tours underwrite education for local students and are thus adapted from longer 4-hour tours the kids get, which is good since we did stay on our feet for the most part. But it's also challenging as there is so much more we wanted to learn about the local politics and unintended consequences of tourism development. But luckily our tour was small, only 4 of us, so Kristian managed to weave in a lot of info. Hopefully the tours will grow (I believe they are the only non-foody tour game in town) and the volunteers will be able to offer optional tours that cover additional current affairs especially as we come out of the pandemic and given the number of ways Mexico, especially the Baja region, is being affected by climate change and development.

I absolutely LOVED this tour! Kristian was wonderful and highlighted some really fascinating(and important) information about Los Cabos and it’s history while keeping it fun and on time. It was also great that it was in downtown so we were easily able to grab dinner in the area after the tour was over. Also the fact that Kristian is born and raised here made it all that much more meaningful. Definitely recommend this for anyone visiting or living here!!

Kristian is passionate about sharing the history of his charming city while embracing its rich culture. I loved that he pointed out architectural details of historical buildings and how specific aspects of each remain today. If you love the colorful bougainvillea, ask him how this beauty got its name. He pointed me to the bird sanctuary and Saturday farmers market as well. It was almost as though he could sense my interests and tailored his tour accordingly.
