- After being picked up at your hotel, head to the ATV base camp near El Migrino River, where you’ll meet your guide. (There is an additional $15 entrance fee to the camp, which is not included in the tour price.) Following a quick talk covering safety and the handling of the ATV, travel off the beaten path and explore the surrounding desert landscape; bring a bandana to protect against the sandy conditions. Then, head toward Migrino Beach, with its pounding waves and ocean cliffs. At the end of the tour, get dropped off at your hotel.

- 1Your tour begins with hotel pickup in San Jose del Cabo or Cabo San Lucas. You'll then head to the Cactus ATV facilities and be greeted by a professional, bilingual staff. You'll first enjoy a visit of the Aviary (Exotic Bird Sanctuary) and then receive all the necessary equipment including helmets, goggles, bandanas and water. You'll get a single ATV so you can drive it on your own. Your guide will give you a safety briefing and explanation of the activities during the tour and then the adventure begins. You will start driving your ATV and following your guide, exploring mountains, streams and canyons. The camel ride was on the beach & it was very relaxing. We booked a private tour so we were able to bring our phones along to take photos & videos. After the camel ride, Karina provided us with info on cactuses that I never knew before. Lunch & transportation was also provided. - mommaadri0 contributionsSCAM SCAM….so not book through your hotelRIP OFF!! first of all there was another review were the person says they do not let you take your phone…this place is literally a scam in an organized way. First of all as soon as you get there they tell you have to wait for others to be able to start the tour, it could be hours. Then they tell you that you can bring your phone and start the tour on time if you pay an additional $260 🫤when I booked at my hotel they said the booking included the hat, glasses, and face covering. So therefore I did not bring my face covering. They of course sell it there and they also don’t tell you that they don’t have water for you at the stops. I have done other tours where they let you take your phone and also provide waters at the stops. It’s just as pretty and they don’t try to scam you quietly as much. I would not book with cactus tours again!!! The only positive was that there was this awesome tour guide that took a little pity on my little family and offered to take us for a tour….of course for a tip 🤑🤑but I was happy to oblige as I did not want to waste another hour to wait for the tour to fill up. I want to find where I’d do my previous tour and book through them. This place literally nickel and dimes everything. I WILL NOT GO BACK!!! If you already booked…..well then you are stuck but what I can tell you is bring your snacks and water and take the water with you on your ride. Bring a face covering and plenty of sunscreen or sun shirt. I paid $20 for my picture with my family instead of the $260 for private tour and ability to take my phone. Literally so disappointing but expected as they are trying to make a living. But this place gets extra low rating because of the greed factors, I mean literally not allowing people to take their phones, they watch you individually place your stuff in a locker and make sure you do not have your phone. In all the hustle I forgot my sunscreen and burned my arms. I felt like I was a prisoner being escorted and ensuring I did not bring contraband.Written 7 September 2024

I wanted to book 2 mini racers for me and my three kids and was told by an AMStar Dreams Hotel representative that I had to book all individual vehicles because Cactus Tours told him only one person could fit in a mini racer. I reluctantly booked 3 mini racers and was told I had to rent an ATV if I wanted to go with the boys, which I really did not want, but I wasn't going to send them out alone. when we arrived to cactus tours, the person behind the desk said that 2 people could fit in the mini racers, so I said great, please refund me the price of the ATV. They said no. So I paid for their employee to drive an atv, with insurance and a private tour while I sat with my kids. Back at the resort, AMStar said they would call and see what they could do, but they didn't do anything. They said they'd contact me, but they haven't. I've since reached out to Cactus Tours and I'm not getting an answer either. So this was a low point for our vacation. The private tour was not what they said it would be either, we still had to follow a perfect line behind the guide and didn't go to the beach. The boys found it a little boring. It would be nice if they could have driven bigger vehicle since they are older but not over 16. The vehicles are very beat up, so don't fall for insurance.
The next thing I think is low for this company was that you couldn't take your phone or camera, they have photographers going around taking your photo for $20USD per photo. I wish we would have done the whale shark tour, it would have been cheaper in the end and probably a lot cooler.

It is important for us that all our clients know the benefits of being with us, such as insurance, cars and other activities we offer. Cell phones and cameras are not welcome during the tours, for strictly safety reasons, however GoPro with harness and with security measures are welcome at no additional charge.

The actual tour was pretty good, nice scenery and guides.
The tour tried to upsell everything. The basic atv’s included in the rental are semi-automatic so you have to switch through the gears and this often led to stalling especially with the many stops along the way. Of course you can upgrade for an additional fee.
They were ok with social distancing/hand sanitizer but did not make everyone wear a mask in the facility and the transportation did not emphasize social distancing and i did not see them clean the cars after dropping off customers and picking up others.
The employees working the desk wore half face shields that did not cover their mouths and noses completely!!! I had never seen this type of mask before.
They were very aggressive re asking for tips.
They clearly want you to spend money and have you hang around for more than 40 minutes after the tour before sending you home. For a total of 90 min of tour time the entire ordeal was almost 5 hours door to door.

We've done numerous adventures in Playa Del Carmen, Porta Vallarta and Cabo San Lucas and this is by far on the bottom of that list. There are so many things that could have been incredible if this was organized.
Pros: The scenery is beautiful
Cons: They claim this is two hours but as you will note in many other reviews it is more like 60 minutes of riding.
You will spend hours driving, waiting in lines, filling out forms and doing more waiting for your group to be formed before you can go out riding. If you don't mind a day spent on an adventure that lasts 60 min this is perfect.
You can't take any of your own pictures. They take the pictures and want to charge $104 US. Unless you want to be gouged on pic prices don't plan on having any picture memories of this spendy tour.
In addition to the $200 we paid as a couple, there was a $40 on site fee we had to pay and then you are pressured to tip 15% at the end of the ride.
So many things they could do to make this a great experience but so many things they fail at.

They will do everything they can to squeeze more and more money from you, you cannot bring your phone with you because they don’t want you taking pics when you stop on the atv tour, they want you to buy there’s and it is $20 for a single print! They made you get $35 dollar insurance, they advertise it as optional but if you do not get it they will put an $800 hold on your credit card “in case something happens”.. They tell yoy bandanas are included and then when you arrive they say you need to buy them and they’re $20. Just more and more and more. The views were beautiful but the ATVs were pretty run down and the tour was very expensive considering how rushed it was, the fact we could not bring our phones / take pictures and how many other options there are! Go with someone else!

We had Fili as our tour guide on the ATV tour. We upgraded from a group ride on Honda 250 quads to a private tour on the bigger 570 quads. It was just us, the tour guide, and the photographer. Fili was awesome and very informative along the way. I loved learning about the blood cactus and trying the cactus blossoms. I would highly recommend the atv ride to anyone looking for some speed along with some beautiful scenery.

We had an amazing time on the ATV tour! Our guide, Adrian, was amazing and made sure we knew exactly how to ride and were comfortable before we really got riding. He upgraded us for free and I appreciated the staff at check in explaining all of our options. I had read reviews that they were really pushy and tried upsell on everything— this was not my experience at all!
I would highly recommend the 4pm tour— smaller group because it’s later in the day and we got to see an amazing sunset at the end of our tour. We also rode through the valley and got to see cows and other wildlife. We will definitely be back again to ride with Adrian!

Ivan and his crew was great once again. These guys are the best in town for the ATV experience, we’ve booked ATVs for three years in a row with them and the experience always delivers. Lots of fun, ask for Ivan to be in the tour guide!

My wife and I had a great time on our ATV excursion with Cactus Tours. Raul was our guide and he did a excellent job making sure we had a fun and safe yet adventurous ride along the beach, through the hills, and down some dunes. The views were great, the equipment was well kept, and the company was very efficient with their pick-up and drop-off process. I would definitely recommend asking for Raul.

The price on the trip was a little high to be honest, they want to up-sell at the register and the price on the pictures is insane! 20dlls a single picture and depending on how many people on the trip they want to sell a USB at like 40dlls per person but you get all the pictures. Other than that the guide IVAN was super awesome, he offered a private tour to an extra location and was fun to learn with him.. in overall is a great trip but expect to spend like you are in Disneyland

I agree with what others have been saying about this place being misleading. When I booked this trip, I was not told the details such as having to upgrade to an automatic ATV as well as about the insurance and not being able to take your phone to take any pictures. It really would have been easy to stop at the beach to take a picture. We probably would have still booked the trip, but it would have been nice to have known this upfront. They hide this information from you until you travel all the way there and are already invested. My son and I ended up making the most of it and having a great time, thanks to Enselmo. Enselmo is a gem. He made sure to explain everything and continued to check in on us and make sure we were all comfortable and enjoying our experience. We appreciated Enselmo making sure that we had a great time despite the rocky start.
