If you are a Frida Kahlo, or even a Diego Rivera fan, I recommend adding La Casa Azul to your México City itinerary. Not only do you get to see the artwork of both artists, but you get a glimpse into their lives, their beliefs, and their relationship. Be sure to pay special attention to Frida's vanity: on it you will see a sculpture of a toad. This is the urn where her ashes are kept. She referred to Diego as a 'sapo' or toad. He had her urn made like a toad so that he could embrace her even in death. I'm not crying.... you're crying.

The house and museum where beautiful. The guards inside the museum all spoke English and answered any questions we had. The people taking the tickets were not very nice and of course, being in Mexico, it’s 30 pesos ($1.50) extra to take photos. And they don’t have change. Otherwise, it was a great way to spend an hour.

This is not the most economical way to visit the museum (if you can buy direct the cost is about half) But! We didn’t plan ahead and the museum’s tickets were sold out. We were happy to pay this (still reasonable) amount to be able to visit Casa Azul with a day notice. The museum is incredibly beautiful.

The Frida Kahlo Museum is considered a "must see" in Mexico City. I'd say that's true, IF you are already into Frida Kahlo. It was interesting to see how she lived, with everything intact (the kitchen was particularly cool), and all the art, and the political/cultural history. But if you're on a tight itinerary, I think there are other museums where you might enjoy your time more unless you really want to know more about Kahlo specifically.

The museum is well worth the visit. The house is impressive and the exhibition is well laid out. My only complaint is that booking through Trip Advisor created a huge issue. It's the only time I've had an issue. The reservation was made for 3:00 but the tickets read 1:30. We were asked to step out of line to try to resolve the timing issue. Apparently, the timing of your reservation is a strict policy which allows for a comfortable visit through the museum. It was finally resolved after a long wait but luckily the proof of my purchase showed 3:00 and we were finally let in at 3:45. I believe the tickets were issued through a third party. Messy situation but we managed to resolve it thanks to the ladies at the entrance.

An intimate display of Frida Kahlo’s personal belongings and collections and much of her drawings and paintings housed in her family home, a wonderful building and garden. A moving insight into her free spirit and suffering. Most of her famous work IS NOT here, but enough to enjoy. The ticket purchase was reliable - we received a call in the US from Mexico to move our time to another. Recommend visiting on a weekend day when the Coyoacán neighborhood is incredibly lively with families, markets, and art in the parks. Recommend seeing the 2002 movie, “Frida” for the story of her adult free spirit and tragic life and relationship with Diego Rivera. See before or after the museum experience.

The museum is amazing and a must when visiting Mexico City! The Diego Rivera museum is also amazing and I’m so glad I took the time to visit it. The tickets from this operator is more expensive than if you get them directly on the museums website. If you are late with your reservation this might be your best option.

Pre-book your tickets to avoid disappointment and arrive early to enjoy the atmosphere outside. We bought a fresh coconut which sustained us for the next few hours and took photos outside. Pre-purchase a photo ticket at the gate if you want to take photos inside the casa. Your entry time will be displayed outside, in 15 minute intervals, you line up at your allocated time and file through. It’s very organised. Allow extra time to look at the display of Frida’s dresses & check out the gift shop, or just sit in the beautuful garden and imagine Frida’s life there. Down the street there is a Frida mural worth checking out & a great photo opp.

The museum was excellent but word of caution DO NOT BOOK through Trip Advisor - I paid $52 per person for 1 student, 1 adult and 1 senior. The actual rate for each was $4 for the student, $22 for the adult, and $2 for the senior - so I paid $156 for what should have cost me $28.00.

DO NOT BOOK through Trip Advisor or any other intermediary - go directly to the museum site and get your tickets there.

The museum was wonder - Frida's life is so multi-layered and complex, feminist, disabled, LGBT, social justice warrior, artist, I could go on.

As a true Frida fan I was overwhelmed by the visit. It is a must for anyone who loves her and her work. It includes an exhibition of her body braces and clothing. Book online and arrive to queue 5 mins before your entry time. It is a quick process. $30 peso to take photos in the museum which is worth it. The gift shop is well stocked but the staff are not very friendly or helpful.
