    Awesome tour
Awesome tour, very well organised by Anisa who was a great guide. We tried the following delicious local foods, all at authentic local shops and restaurants that we would not have known to try if not for Anisa's guidance: lupis, wedang tahu, cakwe, gudeg, lumpia (and other jajanan pasar), soto ayam, and kopi joss. And also enjoyed a nice little becak ride along the way. Definitely recommend

Phenomenal Food Tour with Kalika – A Must-Do in Yogyakarta!
I had an incredible time on the morning food tour with Kalika! She took me to so many hidden gems that I never would have found on my own. The food was absolutely amazing, and Kalika provided interesting historical context along the way, which made the experience even richer. Kalika is not only extremely knowledgeable, but also a huge foodie herself. She took me to authentic, traditional places that only locals know about, which made the tour feel extra special. I also really appreciated her high hygiene standards and her thoughtfulness in finding foods that matched my tastes. If you’re in Yogyakarta, this tour is an absolute must. Highly recommend it!

    A fantastic tour!
I had a wonderful tour with Anisa. She is an excellent guide who explained the history behind the food and even added a few extra extra foods at the market that I hadn't tried before. I highly recommend this tour company.

Early Bird Delicacies: Exploring Yogyakarta’s Vibrant Food Scene.
We had our tour with Anisa and met at our first food stop at 7:30 am. ☀️ Here, as well as at every other stop, she explained how the different dishes you’re about to try came to be, all the ingredients they are made with, and how the Yogyanese enjoy them.🫚🍋‍🟩 After trying the food, you immediately understand why it’s so popular among Yogyakarta’s locals, and soon it’s really hard for you to pick your favorite dish. We enjoyed the whole experience so much that we even forgot to take pictures, but Anisa did for us. 😄 You may think it’s too early in the morning, but it’s definitely worth it because you get to experience the colorful and rich markets of Yogya like a true local. 🫔🍢🥥🥭🌶️🍋 You definitely have to come hungry to be able to enjoy EVERYTHING to the fullest! 😋

    Excellent food tour!
I really enjoyed the morning food tour with Kalika. She was very generous, took time to explain every snack or meal I tasted. The visit to the market was interesting and I got to taste fruits and snacks. She also helped me buy salak. Kalika shared cultural informations about Java and took time to share stories about each other’s countries. Highly recommended!

    A fantastic experience in Yogya
If you like trying out local food and you are curious about Jogjas Street Food, you should definitely book this tour! Vertical tours is a small, local company owned by young and enthusiastic people. In a few hours I learned so much about Yogyakartas most important (& most delicious) dishes. I got a taste from everything: from coffee to fruits to snacks, desserts and savoury dishes. We visited the market, street food stalls as well as a small restaurant. A great combination of food, culture and sightseeing. the Tour is absolutely worth getting up a bit earlier and it was one of the most fun and delicious Food Tours I ever did.

Interesting foods, friendly guide, worth it
Great tour! Anisa took us to several different places, each one with a unique item(s) to try. We had snacks, entrees, fruits, drinks...basically a whole selection! We did not have any dietary restrictions, but they can accommodate different restrictions you may have. Also there were no extra hidden fees once the tour began. During our specific tour it began raining and we were able to sit and chat with Anisa about life in Yogyakarta, the local cultures, and she was even able to give us some advice for our future travels around Indonesia. She was very friendly and eager to chat. Quick tip, the tour does not end where it begins, so make sure you take plenty of photos as you go along.

Filling, fun and a great snapshot into life .
Firstly, Anisa my guide was excellent. Not only did I have the opportunity to try a wide variety of breakfast foods, but I really got the chance to talk to her about her plans, life in Indonesia and challenges. It was more than a good tour and she was knowledgable about the food and history behind it. Come hungry, go home with a happy belly!

I was visiting Yogyakarta for four days over the New Year holiday, and I cannot recommend it more (as a traveling chef and tourist) and a chance to view how others celebrate this moment in the year. Before arriving, I booked this food/culture tour to experience the street food and nightlife as it could be quite daunting to just throw yourself at whatever and become disappointed. My experience definitely didn’t disappoint.

I had the privilege of being with Malika who took me to some of her favorite eating spots and outdoor activities and why. Despite the rain being on and off while we shuttled around, I had a spectacular time. Malika provided cultural insights and a history lesson when walking through the area, and offered up her “not to miss” recommendations which were delicious. Overall, I had an amazing time and think that many travel destinations should incorporate food/culture tours like this one so travelers don’t miss out on something incredibly special.

Couldn’t recommend this enough.

Terima kasih!

Fantastic walking tour to approach Yogyakarta's iconic sites. Kalika, our guide, is a wonderful girl, speaks perfect English and is very knowledgeable. The tour is structured with a visit to the main sights and several stops to sample local dishes. Kalika made sure that everything was perfect and was fantastic in her choice of dishes for us and the timing. We also discovered a traditional game and experienced a typical Indonesian evening.
I recommend anyone spending a few days in Yogyakarta to take this tour to learn more about the city, the typical dishes and the history!

I did this tour the first night I arrived and would highly recommend it for anyone interested in sampling local food and learning more about the city. Kalika was extremely friendly, very knowledgable, and brought us to many different places to sample local food and teas. Great activity for a solo traveler.

Not worth the money. We were brought to several popular places but since the tastings for the group of 8 weren’t planned ahead of time, the line was too long (an hour wait) so we skipped it and went to other stalls that there was literally no one at. Compared to the wonderful dinner we had the previous night, there was very little exciting about the food provided on this tour and not a good value. Our bill at the restaurant the previous night was $5 per person, as opposed to $40 each for this tour. Information about Joyga was provided by our kind host, but often the surrounds were too noisy to clearly hear the stories and she didn’t have a strong voice. Wouldn’t “recommend” this tour to a friend.

Kalika and her apprentice were great tour guides! We went to 4 different food stands/restaurants and to a medicinal tea shop. We walked a little bit but the weather was unpredictable so we mostly rode in Rickshaws.
This was our first time to Jogja so most of the food was new to us and Malioboro street was fun to just people watch.
We ended at Alun Alun Kidul and got to drive the peddle Volkswagen around the park and do the blindfold game where you walk between the trees. There was also a puppet show that happened to be playing that night so we caught a few minutes of that before ending our night.
This is a great way to see Jogja at night if you are here for a limited time, I highly recommend!

This was a fantastic food tour! We stopped in many different places around the city to taste some tasty local food that you wouldn't get to try without help from a local. Kalika the guide was excellent, she has perfect English and explained everything we ate. She also gave us an insight into the history and local culture of Yogyakarta. The tour also is definitely suitable for people for have specific dietary requirements too, Kalika text me in advance to make sure that I would be able to have something vegetarian at each stop. She also called ahead to one of the restaurants to make sure the noodles were made without chicken and in a veggie broth. I really appreciated this! I Would definitely recommend this tour - a must do if you're coming to Yogyakarta!

This food tour was a highlight of our entire trip through Indonesia! Our group of 7 loved all three hours of the tour: we got to walk through the busy Jalan Malioboro street and experience all the local action. All seven food and drink stops were great insights to the local food (and very tasty too!). Our guide, Anisa, was not just knowledgeable about food, the history of the city, and the culture, she was a lot of fun and made everything interesting! She was happy to answer all our questions and even followed up the next day to provide additional answers. There was more than enough food at each stop (we were stuffed by the end). And the rides and games at the end were a great way to wrap up the tour. Highly recommend this tour to anyone going to Yogyakarta - it's the perfect way to discover the city!

The tour was really fun. The food was interesting, but I wish there were more food options. Our tour guide Anisa was great! She was extremely friendly, informative and super helpful. The one thing I wish was included was pickup and drop off. As a tourist, in a busy city, it can be a bit intimidating looking for a taxi and getting a grab can be quite difficult if you don’t have a SIM card or Wi-Fi. But Anisa was extremely helpful with getting us a ride back to our hotel. A fun and interesting tour for sure 🌟

Kalika was an amazing host! The whole night ran so smoothly and seamlessly, we tried a LOT of food and drinks, and she described everything in detail. I had a list of all the food I wanted to try while in Jogja, and she ticked them all! We finished at Alun Alun for a fun game. It was a fabulous night and I would recommend it to anyone in their first couple of days, to get their bearings and learn the history of the city as well as taste the must-tries of Jogja!
