      Great Snorkeling Experience
Staff was very nice, we got to see turtles, sting rays, conch shells, crabs, various types of tropical fish, up close experiences with beautiful sea creatures. Trip provided snacks, drinks and snorkeling equipment. We had a great time and would for sure book again.

      Highly recommend!
Really enjoyed the Sunset Dinner Cruise with Captain Mike(?), Heather and Anders. It was an overcast evening, so not much of a sunset, but the cruise was nice and relaxing and it was great to cruise through the harbor. The drinks were plentiful, the food was good, and the service was excellent. Heather and Anders were busy taking care of everyone and making sure your cup wasn't empty, along with taking pictures and making sure everyone had a great time!

      The perfect snorkeling experience
Would HIGHLY recommend this excursion! The crew is really engaging, and the boat is very nice/clean. Having a first time snorkeler on board, I would definitely say they are explaining and helpful!

      Excellent dinner cruise
The cruise was great, food was wonderful. Mike, Keith and Nick were fantastic hosts. Keith gave so much informative information about the island. Nick kept our cups full of drinks. I highly recommend this dinner cruise and so glad we chose this one over the others. Job well done.

      Peaceful Beauty
Husband and I took the Sunset Sail in July 2023 with Captain John and Issac. The crew was wonderful and created a happy, safe space to enjoy the peaceful beauty St. Thomas had to offer. While the appetizers were just that, the cocktails courtesy of Issac (strictly rum mixes for me) kept coming and helped to calm any inhibitions about being out on a boat. Great way to see St. Thomas and the surrounding islands. Great way to end your day.

      Beautiful
It was totally worth it . We had a blast the only reason I did not give a five star is they make you take off your shoes and go barefoot. I am an avid boater and I know why they do it but with that many people from all over the world perhaps they shouldn’t make people do it .

Always a great time on The Cat
Always a great time on The Cat no matter what tour we do. The crew are always amazing. You can't go wrong with whatever tour you do. We've done 4 tours with them. The snorkeling tour, 2 dinner tours, one appetizer tour.

      Good Peaceful Experience
The views were amazing especially at night. The drinks were abundant but the food was mediocre because the food wasn’t warm. There was still plenty to during the ride, which is a plus when you’re drinking. Bring an umbrella a sun screen to protect you from the sun during your 30min early arrival and be ready to take your shoes off and enjoy the beautiful ocean!

Overall it was nice but It was really expensive for a mediocre reef and only one turtle. I recommend doing more research and finding some other places to snorkel on your own or going to St. john’s Honeymoon beach & doing the kayak tour you’ll see a real reef and tons of turtles.

Also, I do not appreciate how the company doesn’t pay their crew and they have to work via tips that the Captin has to then guilt trip the customers into giving the crew at the end of the tour. It left a sour taste in my mouth and was overall super annoying, these guys worked super hard and obviously deserved to get paid so why wasn’t my ticket just $20 more so they can make a real wage? It was shady, “tips appreciated” and working on tips are two very different concepts. Just pay these guys they work super hard and why are you even betting on me having cash on a boat?

Thanks for sailing with us, Olivia! It is great to hear you got to see a sea turtle up close during your snorkel! How cool. Please note we pay our crew a competitive wage and in addition they accept tips like every other job in the service industry. We cherish our crew and that's why many of them have been with us for years! Take care.

Captain Joe and his crew were extremely accommodating and professional. This catamaran snorkel trip was one of the top highlights of our trip. The snorkeling was incredible, the music was on point, the Painkillers were out of this world and the crew was beyond amazing. If you are traveling to St. Thomas I would highly recommend taking this trip they went above and beyond to make sure everyone was safe and had an amazing time, which we absolutely did. Thank you Captain Joe and crew for an amazing memory.

We typically do not go on the boats with large crowds, but since this boat had such great reivews, we wanted to try it out. The boat was clean and the staff was a lot of fun.
Turtle Cove was very nice as well, the water was very clear the day we went.

If you are on a cruise ship or prefer to snorkel as a group, this would be a great trip for you!! I always wanted to go to Buck island and it was a nice trip as we went on the afternoon boat, as we don't like to get up super early and rush around.

This was a wonderful and COVID safe excursion. The ship limits capacity to 40% and enforced mask wearing and social distancing. We were able to enjoy a great day of snorkeling, with a great stop at Honeymoon Beach for lunch.. Friendly and helpful crew. Snacks and rum punch were perfect! The snorkeling location was perfect. Turtles on one side of the bay and colorful fish on the other. I highly recommend this excursion!

Awesome boat tour! Captain Joe, Fernando and Catie were all super friendly and entertaining. The boat was easy to find and also very clean and well spaced out. Catie made sure our rum punch cups were never empty, and Fernando was a great snorkeling tour guide making sure we had a good balance of a tour seeing turtles and fish and free time. Would do again on next trip to USVI!

The staff. They went way above and beyond to make it a great experience. They were very attentive to both my wife and I with the adult beverages, but also accommodating to my 4 kids, ages 10,9,7,and 5 after the snorkel adventure.
I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting the island

*Guests should note that you cannot board the catamaran without a boarding pass or e-mail confirmation.*
Your name and/or ID is not enough. I had to run back to my car and get my phone with no time to spare. The confirmation e-mail I received said you MAY board the catamaran with a mobile or paper ticket, not that you can ONLY board with a mobile or paper ticket. I wrongly assumed they would have my name on a manifest, and they could confirm my identity with an ID.

That being said, I had a lovely time on this tour. The catamaran is awesome and the captain and crew were excellent. Catie and Brad wore many hats as tour guides, boat crew, food service, and bartenders. Catie showed us the tropical fish, reef, and sea turtles while we were snorkeling. The majority of the tour is sailing to and from the snorkeling location (don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time to snorkel) and the ride is awesome. The sun and sea make for a great experience.

We did have a few seasick passengers on this tour. If you are prone to sea sickness, it’s best to take medicine prior to boarding so it has time to take effect. I will say that it was very windy and the waves were big during my visit, and I got the impression that the seas are not usually this rough.

Thank you for detailing your trip and offering advice to fellow travelers for a smooth sail such as the motion sickness medications on those extra rough days. This outing is very nice but not quite a 5 star experience. Great Captain, the crew works hard and is very friendly. That said there are drawbacks you might consider.

The boat is beautiful and due to COVID restrictions has plenty of room. Capable of 80 people our trip capped at 40. Masks were required unless seated at all times except when prepping to go into the water. 3 Miles out to sea and socially distant outside yet masked if standing didn't make sense and put a damper on the atmosphere, although they are at the mercy of local officials who have shut down non compliant businesses.

Sailing was more for show as the motor was going even on the return trip which was when the sail was hoisted. As far as snorkeling goes, not the best we experienced during our stay to say the least, Turtle Cove had 2 turtles and a few fish. St. John and Coki were better for snorkeling. My kids were back on the boat early. The bar opens when the return starts. Beer limited to Coors Light and painkillers were tasty.

We had fun but considering some of the restrictions, poor choice of beer, and limited turtles we would have passed. Also charging my 13 year old as an adult without the booze a little pricey.

Thank you for the review, laureljoe. We are happy to hear that you had a nice trip. Turtles and tropical fish at Turtle Cove are in their natural habitat. Sighting are almost always reported and typically plenty of them as well as other sea life. The Cat and crew take the Covids seriously. The government has put down the rules and we have to follow them. Thank you for sailing with us!

Overall, the experience was just average and quite touristy. I do want give a shout out to Jeff and John, our boat crew, Who were really awesome! The boat left right from Frenchmans Cove which was convenient for us because that’s where we were staying. The boat and the equipment were old. We did enjoy our time while we were physically in the water snorkeling. They will give you water throughout the trip, but it is only “open bar” on the way back, which was really just a premade mix of what they called “painkillers.” It was watered down and not strong at all. They weren’t any comfortable places on the boat to sit. And the snacks are Tostitos chips and picante salsa....

We did a similar experience on Saint John with a different boat excursion group and I would HIGHLY recommend doing that instead. On The excursion on Saint John, we were given an open bar the entire trip (and they were actually hand making your cocktails and souvenir cups were included!), music played on the boat the entire trip, there were comfy bean bag chairs and places we could sit, the boat and all the equipment was new, and it was overall a much better experience.

I would not take a trip on the Cat again nor would I recommend it. They are much better boat excursions for snorkeling on the islands.

Hi rebeccakulick, Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us your review. It is great that Jeff and John gave you an enjoyable experience while on board with us. We too think that our pick up and drop off location at the Marriott's Frenchman's Cove is convenient and centrally located on the island! We are happy to hear that you enjoyed your time in the water exploring some beautiful sea life. We can assure fellow travelers that The VI Cat provides music, new equipment and an open bar of mixers, liquor and beer while out on the water. It was a pleasure to have you on board with us. All the best!

Had an awesome trip. Katie, Fernando and Captain Joe gave us a great experience. Great first time snorkeling for my grand kids. They loved it.

If you are not sure about doing a snorkel trip I highly suggest you do this one. It is reasonably price and only three hours. We were worried about how my 6 year old grandson would do on a day long trip so this was a great option. He loved it. Got to see sea turtles, coral and beautiful tropical fish. My wife’s favorite part was when they raised the sails and we cruised back to port on wind power alone.

Do this trip and you won’t regret it!
