- Kyle L0 contributionsPure awesomenessThis was a short excursion but fantastic none the less. Would have loved to sail further and do an over night at another island and sail back. Would love to do this again!Written 22 February 2019
- Stay361155749180 contributionsWx Conditions a FactorSpent a week on great Wind Star cruise, ending with this racing sail experience. Never rained a drop all week except for the 2 hours plus we were on the racing boat. Would well have been the best experience of the week, but "more than dampened" by a cold, windy rain. Crew was great and i highly recommend the experience, but take rain gear...just in case.Written 22 February 2019
- Heather H0 contributionsDiscover Sailing- Great for first timers or experienced sailors.I never imagined I could learn so much in one trip! Well orchestrated, right number of guests on board, rotating through the crewing jobs, great instruction, beautiful day. And the yacht was pristine. This is the life!!Written 18 February 2019
- Karen T0 contributionsfirst time on a sail boatWe had a wonderful time. We had the opportunity to help put up and take down the sails and we each had a chance at the helm. It was a wonderful experience. They provided a taxi to get us to and from the cruise shipWritten 16 February 2019
- MNtraveller20140 contributionsWonderful first sailing experience! This was a great opportunity to learn the basics of sailing with a friendly and hands on instructor. Everyone in the group had an opportunity to steer the ship, help with the sail adjustments using the various lines, and enjoy some relaxing sailing in beautiful scenery.I'd highly recommend this to anyone who has always wanted to try sailing.Written 17 December 2018
- Traveler060716267890 contributionsFirst 4 Sail: Great Yacht Racing ExperienceFirst 4 Sail gave us a wonderful taste of yacht racing. The instruction was excellent, and we were able to participate in the work of sailing, which gave us a great feel for the activity. At the same time, the crew did a great job of ensuring that we were safe and didn't go too far awry.Written 17 December 2018
- Gord W0 contributionsREAL Sailing...no doubtSpent a half day with the skipper and crew on board this sailboat...my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed actually sailing...as opposed to motoring around with a foresail up and the engine on. ; ) If you're looking for a booze cruise on a monstrous catamaran that rarely has any sails in use....look elsewhere. This is a real sailboat that will please real sailors and will also allow less experienced and aspiring sailors the opportunity to actually sail on a monohull...my personal favorite. Rail down / race-like sailing on a strong boat with excellent crew describes our day on the water. I've been sailing for over 50 years on dingys and keelboats and most everything in between...I highly recommend First 4 Sail in St Lucia!Written 5 May 2018
- Rachael5050 contributionsGreat chance to get a feel for learning to sailMy partner and I had been thinking about learning the sail for a while so I booked us in for two days around our holiday in Rodney Bay. We really enjoyed it and ended up booking for a third day. It was a great way to get a feel for things and learn before jumping in fully to sailing qualifications, and of course a great location to learn in the Caribbean. Communication was good and all arrangements were easy so no stress involved. As well as learning, they also appreciated we were on holiday so built in time to stop for a swim etc making it a really good balance. Thanks very much for some fun days out!Written 9 April 2018
- SusanE20110 contributionsUnique and wonderful sailing experienceWe really enjoyed our half day family sail with Ben and his crew. Fun, easy-going, and a wonderful way to introduce our kids to sailing on a yacht. Ben will get you as involved as you want to be in the sailing too. A trip highlight of our visit to St Lucia for sure!Written 28 March 2018
- pkuhn490 contributionsReally learn something about sailing while having funThis sailing program was both fun and educational. Each person had a chance to pull each line, received a clear explanation of sailing lingo and got a chance to take the helm. Fantastic.Written 16 March 2018

- jimbaldwin20180 contributionsGreat sailing experience. We were given aspects about the 40' racing yacht. And, safety instructions. Cindy was first at helm. Driving out of marina. 2 other fellas then took helm. Then for last 1/2 hour I took helm. Had rails skimming across the rough water. With mast measuring 41* slant. But, I could not keep over long enough to have photo taken of event. Very exciting for first time ⛵ sailors.Written 15 March 2018

One word - amazing. If you’re new to sailing you want to go out with Vickie. It’s the real deal. Our family of four including a 15yo and 17yo had a great time working the jib sheet, trimming the mast and manning the helm. Overall, it was a great time and one my family will remember.

Many resort "sailing" experiences involve a lot of motoring, a little gentle sailing, a rum punch while sunbathing on the foredeck then motoring back to port.
Not this one.
Six guests Captain Vicky and one crew member took a real one ton 40 ft racing boat out into Rodney Bay with 30+ knot offshore winds and a 4 ft swell with whitecaps.
We motored out of the resort while Vicky gave a sailing 101 course and a safety briefing. As soon as we were clear of the moored boats we helped raise the mainsail (with two reefs to make is smaller) and about 1/3 of the jib. Even so, it seemed the boat was inclined almost 45 degrees as we tacked back and forth across the bay before heading south. Everyone who wanted to got to help grinding the winches or taking the helm - not for a five minute checking the box experience, but for 45 minutes and through several tacks to change direction.
Vicky co-ordinated her very amateur crew calmly and patiently, and told tales of her sailing experiences.
As we headed back in, things calmed down enough that we could knock back some bottled water with one hand, while still holding the boat with the other!
A very exciting 3 hrs of real sailing!

I went on this trip with my daughter.
Thoroughly enjoyed it and learned a little bit about sailing (never been on a racing yacht before), with the most important rule being......do not lose the winch handle!
Found steering the vessel (probably not the correct term) much harder than it looks. I would describe it as driving a car with a rubber steering wheel and rubber suspension.
We were also lucky in the respect that only two of us signed up for the trip,so we got to do far more than we would if there had been eight people.
Final top tip, don't forget the sun tan lotion.

Vicky and crewmate Curtney were friendly and relaxed on this half-day (3hr) session. Their guidance on what to do and when was a great introduction to sailing a large, multi-sail yacht. We spent the hours tacking back and forth across Rodney Bay, taking turns at the helm, and all four guests playing their part in the turns. Vicky's experience is evident, both in sailing and in making guests feel comfortable onboard, adapting her approach to the sailing experience of the guests. Whether you're looking for a refresher or an introduction, this great half-day to do.

I had an absolutely incredible day with First For Sail in St. Lucia! Vicky, the captain, and her first mate, Michael, were top-notch—helpful, friendly, and full of good humour. They truly made the experience unforgettable. The day was perfect from start to finish, and I can’t recommend them enough for anyone looking to enjoy a fantastic sailing adventure!

Vicky and her crew were amazing. She taught us about sailing and allowed us to get involved and sail the ship, hoist the sails and even take the helm.(your choice to participate or not). There is nothing like the thrill of sailing with the wind thrusting you thru the water and riding out the pull and turning of the boat. Absolutely a fun and exciting experience,

Vicky was an outstanding skipper who knows the oceanic terrain like the back of her hand and guided us to assist her when we wanted to. On the other hand, when we wanted to chill-ax, she and her assistant, Curvin, took over very competently. Her boat - a beautiful 40 ft racing boat - was very comfortable and small enough to get close to the water. We stopped at a pretty lunch spot and were able to snorkel and swim at our leisure. It was a spectacular day and we cannot recommend Vicky enough. She is a great find if you can get her! (Also an outstanding sailing instructor if you want that...)

Awesome sailing experience!! Our afternoon was VERY windy , I guess sailors call this a “spicy” day to sail ! Anyone who wanted had a chance to take the helm , as well as help with the sails / tacking . The captain answered all our questions and made sure we made it back to the dock safely …. Definitely would repeat , and will now look for similar tours when we travel other places

Thank you for your review. I think "spicy" would be a good adjective for that sail! Glad you had fun

Took a full-day sailing trip with CAPT Vicky and her crew mate on 9 Feb. My wife and I happened to be the only passengers that day. I use the term “passengers” loosely as we wanted to get as much hands on sailing as possible — Vicky was happy to accommodate. She provided expert instruction on the basics of working the rigging and manning the helm. We had virtually no sailing experience but Vicky very patiently coached us through everything.
Weather was pretty sporty with lots of wind from the north. Encountered a brief squall on the way down and some rougher seas on the return which allowed for extra tacking practice. Really added to the adventure!
In between, we stopped in beautiful Marigot bay for a picnic lunch provided by Vicki.
If you aspire to really sail the Caribbean, not just motor along on a party catamaran, this trip for you. We had a blast! It was the highlight of our St. Lucia trip!

My wife and I, both non-sailers, sailed with Ben and his first mate Kertney for about 4 hrs. It was a wonderful and exciting experience. They crew taught us novices a lot about sailing and eagerly answered every question we fielded about sailing, the boat, the area, their backgrounds, the sea, the weather, etc. Very nice guys and fun to share time with. I would and hope to do this again.
