El Yunque Off the Beaten Path Hiking Tour
From US$ 99.00
Overview
Discover the hidden gems of the El Yunque rainforest on this off-the-beaten path tour, ideal for the adventurous and those revisiting the park. Walk along secret trails and explore lesser-known waterfalls and swimming holes while discovering Puerto Rico’s wildlife, such as Coqui tree frogs. Enjoy a well-planned day of swimming, hiking, and wildlife on this tour from San Juan.
What to Expect

Your tour begins with pickup at your hotel or central San Juan location. Bring your hiking boots, comfortable clothing, a bathing suit, towel, and change of clothing.

At El Yunque, your hike—approximately 35 minutes—takes you to a secret natural pool with a waterfall. Enjoy the local flora and fauna of the area, such as rainforest flowers and Coqui tree frogs, before taking a dip in the natural pools. Dry off before continuing on a 40-minute uphill hike.

Next, visit  El Portal Center to learn about the tropical rainforest, the only one in the US National Forest System.

After another short, rocky hike, finish your adventure at another secluded pool with a natural water slide and a rope that swings into the river.

After a stop for local Puerto Rican food (own expense), your tour ends with drop-off at your hotel.

Great hiking trip

This was so much fun. Be prepared to get muddy and wet. Alex was a great guide and very informative on the flora during the walk answering questions and pointing things out. The jump into the pools was so refreshing.

We had EJ as our tour guide. Very friendly and helpful with the hiking tour. He made sure we were safe while participating in the activities. The hike was challenging but a great experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

It would not be good for a 5 yr old or younger; there are areas that involve climbing, using your full body to extend and pull yourself up, or stretching your legs all the way down a boulder to find footing for... More

I believe this tour although amazing would be challenging for your younger children. The weather made the climb up and down difficult as it was muddy and hard to maneuver. Little legs would have a hard time through the... More
