I was nervous about the trip because they changed our destination to Vieques due to rough conditions. The experience exceeding my expectations. The crew was amazing. They were constantly making sure we were comfortable, explained everything very well, and always made sure we were 100% satisfied. Lunch was delicious and the drinks were amazing. The crew really made this experience 1000 times better than what it already was. La chiva beach was so beautiful and the ocean was very calm and relaxing. We were offered floaties which i would recommend since it makes it a lot easier to relax. We got snorkel masks and were able to see reefs and wildlife close to where we were docked. They made it everyone comfortable and accommodated to everyones swim abilities. Beach was stunning and the floating mat was the perfect place to relax. From start to finish was absolutely amazing and unforgettable. Would recommend to everyone and anyone to book this excursion. Definitely worth the money and time.

Finding a quality catamaran tour seemed like a tough ask last minute . And then came East Island Excursions. My friend booked this tour after calling so many companies and learning what they offer. The booking process was fairly easy, waivers were digital and their communication and tour execution was superb. What was attractive to us was that they offered a buffet sandwich meal, drinks (In particular Medalla), fresh fruit, snacks, and snorkeling gear. Captain Carlos, Natalia and David were so approachable during our excursion which made the experience much more enjoyable.

Our first stop was Tamarindo Beach to snorkel. The waters were pretty clear and calm. There wasn’t a ton of marine life or color to see but we did see jellyfish (harmless if you keep away) and some pretty awesome fish as well.

The next stop was supposed to be Flamenco Beach but the current was a lot stronger than anticipated. Although Flamenco Beach is rated one of the top beaches in the world, the captain prioritized our safety and docked us as Culebrita Beach for the remainder of the tour. There we swam with turtles, other fish and jumped off the boat. At first it seemed as if we spent a lot of time on the boat, but then we were given plenty of time to be in the water.

I felt grateful they took us on this tour even with a smaller group size (we visited in off season). This did provide for a mostly intimate experience with the private islands and the crew.

Safety kept being emphasized which was super important to us especially as new swimmers. Wear sunscreen! A lot. I personally burned and look like Larry the lobster. Bring cash—- don’t forget to tip the crew!

Easy to book, easy to find, easy to board the boat. Once you get in the boat the crew takes you right to Flamenco on Culebra (though they mentioned they sometimes cannot and need to take the tour elsewhere instead).

The beach is incredible. As picturesque as anything you saw when you Googled it before booking this trip.

Bring your own snorkel and goggles if you want to float above the reef formation. Bring a bag or trash bag to keep your stuff dry if you want to jump off the boat and head to the sand. Either way, jump off the boat and enjoy the water and the sun. It’s a remarkable place.

I would recommend this trip to anyone or group ages 5+ and who enjoys water or beaches.

Dec 2022 • Friends
I get up at 5 am for this trip to Culebra as they require self driving customers arrive early. When we arrived we waited for an hour that about 80 people were waiting at the check in window.
After checking in we were assigned a wristband. About 60 people were assigned to a larger boat to Culebra, and 20 people (including my friend and myself) were assigned to another smaller boat.
After we boarded we got told by the captain that due to “weather condition” we would either go to P island (no fish no coral) or go to Icacos Island (15 minutes away). We got confused that the other boat is heading to Culebra (my resort neighbor is on the larger boat) and they decided to exploit us by sending us to a lower cost place while we are all paying the same money.
Immediately some of us got outrages and asked to speak to the manager. The manager came, and after 40 minutes of nonsense, the manager decided to give a discount of 15%. We feel being cheated as if we want to go to other places we would book another flexible trip and such discount is ridiculous.
All the travelers on the small boat were then being told that the travelers were randomly selected on to this boat and although the other boat is heading to Culebra, we cannot. All of us then decided to get off this boat and asked for a full refund.
If you want to test your luck on holidays, go for this trip. There’s a chance that you can go to Culebra as planned, or being cheated, getting outrages and likely wasting your full morning in Fajardo asking for refund.

The positive first:

the communication with the company was great. They contacted me the day before the trip to confirm pickup and explain that the boat would go to culebra if the conditions allowed or to Icacos if the conditions were not great.

The captain and crew were also very nice and accommodating on the trip itself.

The vessel was Coast Guard certified, which made me feel much more comfortable about safety during the trip.

The lunch was pretty good.

Culebrita, where we spent the beach part of the trip was very beautiful.

The shuttle/bus from San Juan was clean and comfortable.

The not their fault (and doesn't impact the stars of this review) but FYI:

The trip out to the snorkeling location was choppy and many people were feeling the effects, including myself. I've been on several excursions and never felt the way I did on this trip. It was approximately an hour to get to the snorkeling location. Because of the way I felt, I didn't want to risk drinking alcohol which sucks because the amount you pay you're hoping to take advantage of that.

The seating area of the boat is enclosed and doesn't lend itself to interacting with others like you normally do on these types of excursions- which to be honest, with the choppiness of the water was likely required for safety reasons but it does take away from the experience. They may use different boats when the weather is nicer.

The reason for my rating:

They don't include snorkel equipment which is very clearly written /included in their info when you're booking. Even still, I think it's weird that they can't offer snorkeling equipment. Covid is likely the reason but soaking equipment in soapy water would eliminate that as an issue so not sure if it's a good enough reason.

Because we couldn't get to Culebra for the beach part of the trip (which was fine and explained to me beforehand as a possibility), we went to Culebrita. Beautiful but practically no shade (some spots under palm trees). IMO, the company should figure out a way to make the passengers time on Culebrita (about an hour and 15 minutes on our trip) more comfortable by figuring out a way to provide shade to those who decide to swim to shore. Oh yeah, the boat can't get super close so you do have to swim to shore. If you want to have anything with you, it would be a good idea to invest in a dry bag with a cross body strap so that you can have some things with you on the beach (towel, your phone, water etc). One of the crew does come to shore with some of the alcoholic drinks but didn't have water so make sure to bring that from the boat.

Bottom Line: I'm just not sure the value is there, especially if you are coming from San Juan, you're spending two hours commuting their and back (either on your own or via the transportation they offer for extra $). Two Hours on the boat getting to/from the pier to snorkeling/beach spots and then only spending a couple hours actually at the snorkeling/beach spots. The locations are absolutely beautiful but for the time spent out there, not worth it for me.

While vacationing with family and friends in Puerto Rico, we booked an excursion for 13 people for the Culebra Day trip. The day before the excursion we were notified that the location would change due to rough weather conditions, which was not a problem for us since we were mostly looking forward to a day in the water. However, 9 of us were staying in Camuy which is 2 hrs away from the marina. The day of the trip we left Camuy at 5:30am to make sure that we had plenty of time to get to the marina on time (departure time was 9am). Unfortunately, we ran into significant unexpected traffic towards San Juan. We immediately called the vendor to let them know of the situation. As we got closer to the marina before the departure time, we let the vendor know that we were only 8 miles away and the GPS estimated arrival time was a few minutes past departure time (12 minutes). The vendor was not willing to adjust the departure time and said they were on a tight schedule (despite they changed the location from Culebra to Vieques which was much closer) and we were a really big group. When we arrived at the location at 9:12am, the boat was gone and there was nobody at the checkin station that I could discuss alternate options with. We finally ran into a maintenance clerk who gave us a phone number to call. When I called, the vendor was not willing to give us a credit to rebook. They said they were booked through March and if I wanted a later date, I had to give them the exact date, with the names of the people going and pay $25/pp rebooking fee and it all needed to be done the same day. Well, we don’t live in PR so even though we could book another trip and take advantage of the credit, we wouldn’t have that information off hand. Needless to say we were very disappointed with the lack of customer service and intend to dispute the charges. I’m sure it was a great trip but know ahead of time they will not work with you on any type of set back.

Feb 2022 • Couples
The boat ride was fun and the water was nice to play in. The drinks and food were pretty good. The crew was nice but not very attentive to the men or couples, but it was a nice boat ride and great weather even though we couldn’t go to the better island/beach we were supposed to. They said we would get a small refund back for each ticket, but they only gave us a small amount on one ticket. And for some reason we got sat outside the main cabin on the back of the boat on a bench, so we had no table to eat or drink on or place to keep our belongings because everyone ended up on the back of the boat once we stopped.

Got a call the day before that the boat to travel to culebra was damaged and now our trip would be to icacos. I understand things happen but this is an 80 dollar difference between each ticket. I was told the price would remain the same because we’d be on a much more “private” boat. They sent the most uncomfortable bus for pickup with a driver who sped past every pothole everyone was nauseous when we arrived in fajardo. It is pouring rain he tells us to get out that they’ll check us in closer to the port. After a 10 minute walk in pouring rain the people at the desk are unsure if we can even go the activity and ask us to wait atleast another 30 minutes (outside, in the rain) 15 minutes went by and I just decided to request a refund after a bus of about 50 people arrived and crowded up the tiny area we had. Everything was so disorganized really ruined my birthday. I understand the weather is out of everyone’s control but they need to communicate with paying customers instead of asking people to wait for miracles. There were storms all over the radar and 40 minutes in the rain still being told to “wait it out”. The bus driver didn’t even want to take us back in San Juan although we paid extra for the transportation.

This tour was our highlight of our trip to San Juan. We wanted to visit Culebra for a day but didn’t want to take a flight as that may have taken too much time nor the ferry as reading reviews it sounded inconvenient. I ran across this tour and decided to give it a shot. The catamaran picks everyone up in Fajardo which is around a 50 minute drive from San Juan. The tour offers pick up in San Juan but this day they weren’t picking up because they didn’t have a minimum of 7 people so we rented a car for $35 usd, picked it up from the airport and drove to the marina. This was great as we were staying very close to the airport and we didn’t have to wait for any other passangers.

Now about the tour itself:
•the music was awesome, the majority of the tour was young people and we enjoyed reggaeton and other Latin hits
•the food was amazing. I was impressed, I thought it would be a plain sandwich as in other tours I’ve been in but it had so much flavor and there were also some great sides
•the crew was extremely helpful and very nice. Chris and everyone else made sure everyone had a great experience aboard.
•there was unlimited free beer and pouch cocktails which were very good and definitely got us tipsy
•we went to Culebrita not Culebra but it was even better as there were less tourists and the water was gorgeous. Snorkeling was fine but there were a lot of rocks so be careful and wear fins if possible. We bought snorkeling sets from Amazon before the tour and would recommend doing the same as a couple of people weren’t satisfied with the snorkeling equipment bought on board.
•Covid measures were in place but didn’t prevent everyone from having a good time.

Overall amazing experience. If you are staying in San Juan but want to have a beach day and visit Culebra or Culebrita I would definitely recommend taking this tour.

Jul 2021 • Family
My family and me did the catamaran to Icacos . This excursion was absolutely beautiful really . The 1 st stop the water we’re over 6 feet deep and the second was 15-30 feet in depth . My Teenage boys n husband loved the snorkeling experience. I love the beautiful beach. Absolutely breath taking . I had only 1 issue . We apparently had a Bachelorette Party or get together on this trip plus another group of young women the manner that they acted with children and teens present was so disrespectful. The had basically all of there private parts out and shaking there butty to point were I felt like me and my family were watching a Strip show . There was a family with young children across from us that had to take there child up front because it was so disrespectful. I don’t mind having a good time I just did not pay all the money that we did which was over $1000 to watch that type of show. A plus they also provide chicken salad wraps not bad . And unlimited Alcohol and drinks .
