About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Mobile418846804310 contributionsDo not use this company!Ripoff! Website is not easy to understand. You book a tour and told you are getting food and drink. Gone for over 6 hours with nothing provided. Took 2 hours of waiting and picking up other people before you even get to the buggy place. Booked a transfer and they never showed up. Told me that the time I booked wasn’t the time they assigned me but will not give my money back. Had to pay for another ride since they were there in time for me to get to airport. Went to go ask their rep at Lopesan for help and he wouldn’t help. Other rep was at lunch and they didn’t know when she would return.Written 11 August 2024

- surinak20240 contributionsA day well spent, incredible value. Worth the money.Took the City Tour from Puerta Plata. Our tour guide Eddie was amazing. We did the cable car ride to the top of the mountain. It was beautiful. A chocolate factory tour, yummmmm. Had lunch, DFC, best fried chicken I’ve ever had. Rice and beans and salad, delicious. The idea of serving lunch was a nice added touch. And the Central Park, cathedral, Pink Street, Umbrella lane, all great photo ops. It was a great value for the cost. Learned about culture and land. Informative and enjoyable.Written 30 April 2024

- sabrinagQ8830DD0 contributionsplayabachata resort was amazing. Welcoming staff, great food, and fun activities to participate in.My tour guide Andy Ortega helped me chose the greatest packages for the excursions which was the combo with the waterfall, zip liner, and driving a buggy. Together with the VIP boat party and cultural escape. The waterfall one is an experience I will never forget. I will recommend anyone to visit Puerto Plata and have Andy as their tour guide. I will definitely visit again and attend more new excursions.Written 30 September 2023

- Gen17760 contributionsGood tour.Took this excursion while in Amber Cove. You climb a few stairs to get on. They help you up the stairs. We sat on the left hand side. Drove through the area to start with on paved roads. Then we went to dirt roads. This was very bumpy. Went up a mountain. Stopped at someone's home to tour. Got to see how people live. Left there. Stopped at a school to see the school which is 3 rooms. The children were delightful. No one on our bus brought any lollipops, but our tour guide said the children look forward to getting lollipops from the tourists. Lunch was included in this excursion. We went to the area that Mega Trucks owns and they have lunch available. We got in line. They have soda available in cups with ice. They have running water, but can not drink it. All ice is bought in bags to use. The food on this excursion was chunks of chicken that had small bones in it. Penne pomadoro pasta. small pieces of bread. Watermelon. Cantalope and a few other items that I did not eat. They serve you. I only had the watermelon and chicken. I could not finish the chicken because of the bones in it. My husband didn't eat anything. After lunch our tour guide took us through their gardens. We got to see what they grow and different flowers. Then we got to sample some chocolate someone was making. It was good. It was a long hot day. Our tour guide had lots of cold water bottles to give to anyone who needed water. If you have long hair, put it in a pony tail as my hair was in knots once we got back to the ship.Written 17 May 2023
- rv4eisner0 contributionsAirport Check In.Was supposed to be a Sunwing agent at the Puerto Plata airport when we arrived to help us with the VIP Service; none to be found. Getting to the VIP Lounge was a big hassle, only because of continuing to beg the VIP agent that one of our fellow travellers had knee braces did we get through the line up much quicker. Once at the VIP Lounge the service was excellent.Written 14 April 2023
- redeco0 contributionsCountryside SafariWe engaged Outback Safari through out Norwegian Cruise ship while visiting Puerto Plata. Our guide Amerigo was friendly and easy to be with. We proceeded from the docks to a small mountain village where we watched bread being made from ground Taro Root (Yucca) and then proceeded to another village which appeared to have been supported by the tourist industry. Houses were clean and neat, villagers clean, well-dressed, and polite, and fruits offered for tasting. We also sampled coffee roasted and ground on premises and cocoa roasted and ground there. We visited gardens where spices and herbs grew, and trees where cacao pods were ripening. A visit to the interior of one of the houses was offered. Small but comfortable, a second 'summer' kitchen was in an adjacent building. There were modern bathrooms for our use. Then we went to a pavilion where lunch was served - good fried chicken, salads, beans and rice, and spaghetti with meat sauce. A dancer showed dances done for Carnival...and a gift shop was available for us to enjoy. Our last stop was Playa Cosita Rico, a lovely beach with splendid waves and surf. Snack bars and gift stalls lined the walkway down to the water. The trip was totally enjoyable and gave us (albeit a staged tourist version) a view of what life might be like in a rural village. I'd highly recommend. Enjoy.Written 8 April 2023
- 563cherit0 contributionsAdventures in ParadiseWe recently vacationed in Puerto Plata in the Dominican Republic. Our 2 excursions were wonderful. We went on the Monster Buggies. So much fun! You get dirty but it is so worth it. We went on a Catamaran adventure and it’s was lovely. The ocean, swimming, dinner, the beach. Cool swings over the water. Great memories and lots of fun for our family. Thank you. Darcy, Cheri, Ocean and Edlyn (2023)Written 13 March 2023
- Puertotraveller1230 contributionsOver promised - Under deliveredThe representative from Nexus Tours totally oversold and misinformed us regarding the details of this tour. We were told there would be great snorkeling and we would see over 5,00 fish...... He also indicated that the bus ride would be 1.5 hours followed by a 20 minute boat ride to get to Paradise Island. It actually took 3 hours on the bus and a 20 minute boat ride to get to the island. We were picked up by a 60 passenger bus (since we also had to go to several other resorts to pick up those guests). This big bus is far too large to drive on the road system - full of speed bumps and pot holes. The driver of the bus was weaving and breaking constantly, which unfortunately caused severe motion sickness for several guests. The representative had indicated that there would be people on the island to provide assistance for travellers who were new to snorkeling. This wasn't the case. There was no coral reef to speak of, and the fish were scarce. When we passed along this information to the representative the following day. All they could do was tell us they were sorry to hear.Written 15 January 2023
- Sherpa5818680 contributionsPlease provide true and accurate information. We booked a snorkeling excursion to Paradise Island with Damingo from Sunwing/Nexus Tours. We were picked up by bus at our resort and were told that the bus ride to the island would be an hour and a half and the boat ride to the island would be 20 minutes. We were told we would see many different kinds of fish and that training would be provided for beginners (it was our first time and our friends were experienced). The bus ride there was 3 hours and is was a very bumpy, hilly and winding road. Two people experienced severe motion sickness. This could have been prevented with true and accurate information about the length of the ride and the road conditions. The boat ride was indeed 20 minutes and pleasant. On the way back, they even took a route through mango trees which was a cool experience. There was no instruction at all provided and as beginners, we were left to figure things out on our own. Our experienced friends were disappointed to find they only saw 2 kinds of fish. Very disappointing.Written 14 January 2023

Would not recommend. Rude and inflexible. Costs more to use than private taxi. Flight was changed a month prior to departure for my return flight. I notified them of the change and they disagreed with what the airline had told me and left the pickup time as is. I thought I would change when I confirmed a day prior. Called and was told it could not be changed as there were other passengers. Also informed me that I could have cancelled 36 hours prior, thanks!
I was the only passenger, arrived at the airport before the airlines ticket counter was open. 4 hour wait.
Also you need to call to confirm 24 to 48 hours prior, no email, no WhatsApp and it was prepaid. Put on hold to confirm, the call cost $15, so I paid more for a rude company with no sense of customer service.
