Back street bike tour to see a different side of Tokyo neighbourhoods - highly recommended!
Our family of four really enjoyed the bike tour of Koenji and surrounding neighbourhoods. Andy was an expert guide drawing on his many years of living in Tokyo. Highlights included delicious standing noodles which we slurped down fast and gaining insights into the way people live their lives in this densely populated place. If you’re comfortable on a bike, I’d highly recommend this tour as a way to explore a different side of Tokyo.

      Fantastic Flavour of Tokyo!
Thoroughly enjoyed this Tokyo experience - the cycling, the insight into Japanese life and the yummy food along the way. Andy is great company and provides a really interesting glimpse into Tokyo life. Easy cycle, taking you down winding streets which capture the essence of the neighbourhood. Don’t miss this!

      Best experience on my trip!
One of my favourite experiences in Japan. Andy is a really great guide and helped explain a lot about life in Tokyo and Japan. Biking through the city was amazing and fun. The food we sampled was also great. Highly recommended

Bike tour of "authentic" Tokyo with a most informative, English-speaking guide
This was a highlight on our visit to Tokyo. If you are looking for an opportunity to discover the neighbourhoods of the west side of Tokyo and try out delicious street food like a local, then this tour is perfect for you! Travelling on virtually flat terrain, you will cycle on both quiet, narrow and busier streets, while Andy tells stories of life in Tokyo. The ride is about 16 km on a cruiser bicycle, so you’ll want to be comfortable cycling this distance. Note that you will not be visiting the typical tourist highlights on this tour. Highly recommend if you’re looking for an authentic way to visit Tokyo!

      Awesome & fun Bike tour
This was one of the best things we did on our stay in Tokyo! Highly recommend doing this at the start of your trip, Andy is a fun & friendly guy, who explains a lot about Japanese daily life in Tokyo. Andy gives clear directions to the meeting point & is very responsive with the online booking. Really enjoyed the food on the tour as well. Congratulations Andy, you do it well! Best wishes Vicki & James

      Fantastic tour with Andy
Our family of 4 (children age 13 & 11) had a fantastic tour with Andy. Exploring local neighbourhoods allowed us to see a different side of Tokyo. Lunch at a local stand up noodle bar was a real highlight (fun & super yummy!!). Would recommend this tour without hesitation to anyone wanting to see the real Tokyo.

Eleven stars! Best thing we did in Tokyo!
Absolutely the highlight of our Tokyo visit. Highly recommend this Cycling and Food tour for anyone looking for something just slightly off the heavily-trodden tourist track. Andy is a gem- friendly, expert and engaging. A few stops west of Shinjuku, the Koenji and Nakano suburbs are the places we will head to immediately on our next trip. Every street and lane way was a treasure, each pause at a place of interest was fascinating, and every food stop was delicious and generous. The bikes were a pleasure to ride, and for our family, including two teenagers, this tour was easily everyone’s favourite Tokyo memory. Great value and an unforgettable experience.Thank you Andy.

      Hit the ground cycling!
Fantastic morning…..Andy was awesome, super knowledgeable about so many interesting aspects of Japanese life. The bikes were well maintained and fun to ride around. It wasn’t too busy so we always felt safe too. Some great food options which we wouldn’t have done if we hadn’t had him guiding us. Highly recommended! PS we did this the morning we arrived from Australia - a great thing to do to ease into your surroundings!

      Inner West Tokyo-style
Andy gave us a local view of life in the inner-West, Tokyo style. Safe, chill and friendly, answered all my silly questions (including the one about rubbish collection!).

Great experience- Off the beaten track biketour!
Andy is a warm person with a great knowledge about the local life. Biking through backstreets, he took us to hoods far away from "Shibuyastyle". We loved the tour taking us to Nakano, Asagaya and Koenji and returned to area in the evening after great tips! See you next time!

      Amazing experience. Definitely recommended!
I had previously been to Tokyo a few times for work, and was looking for a different experience this time, away from the usual tourist attractions. So glad I found Andy’s tour. What an amazing and unique experience, cycling through the back streets, small alleys, and local neighbourhood! Big kudos to Andy. Very attentive and great in communicating. Tokyo had been raining quite a bit leading up to the tour day, and Andy was personally messaging us to communicate and confirm if it was safe to continue, while giving us an option for full refund if we are not up for it. Super glad I went ahead despite being an amateur cyclist, and it was completely safe and enjoyable despite the light rain. Lots of insights about local culture as well. Would definitely recommend Andy’s tour to those visiting Tokyo!

      Must do in Tokyo
What a great experience! Cycling around the local streets was awesome, learning more about how daily life in Tokyo runs. Andy was an excellent guide and sorted us out with delicious snacks and lunch. Taught us a few eye openers about some of the micro cultures in Japan too 😂. Highly recommend.

This was an absolutely phenomenal experience! My family of 4 (two daughters ages 13 and 15) had a blast with Andy biking through the streets of Tokyo. I was a little apprehensive before the tour that we might be overwhelmed navigating the crowds and traffic but Andy took us on a route through the mostly calm back streets of Koenji and the surrounding neighborhoods. It was fascinating to see a side of Tokyo you just don't get when hitting the tourist hot spots. An added bonus was Andy's commentary as a long time resident about the daily life of raising a family in Tokyo, all while hitting some fantastic street food options. The standing Soba meal was a highlight of our trip. This is a tour not to be missed!

Hi Bob, Thanks for leaving such kind and detailed review of our Tokyo cycling and food tour together, it was brilliant meeting the family that afternoon! Really happy to hear that everyone had a 'blast' and that you enjoyed the standing bowl of soba noodles at a local 'tachigui'. All the best and be sure to give me a shout if you're ever back in Tokyo it'd be great to catch up! Thanks again for the support, Andy!

We had a great time yesterday exploring a couple of areas of Tokyo we probably wouldn't have been to otherwise with Andy. The focus was on quick, good, cheap eats and how the locals eat. It meant we tried things we wouldn't have known to ask for and learnt a good few things about Japanese food. There seemed to be some very expensive options out there when looking for foodie walks but this tour taught us how you can get great food for a good price.

Hi Simon, Brilliant meeting you both the other afternoon for our walking and street food tour around the neighbourhoods of Tokyo! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment during your holiday it's very much appreciated. Really happy to hear that you enjoyed the 'no fuss / cheap eats' element of the day. I think Tokyo often gets a bad wrap about being expensive but it doesn't necessarily need to be. Enjoy the city and I hope we get to bump into each other again in the future, Andy!

I booked this tour with great expectations and boy did it shatter them. Andy is an incredible tour guide with great knowledge of the food and area. All the food was great and nothing offered that is a bit unusual but I’m sure Andy could point you in the direction of where you could find some delicacies. See another side of Tokyo and the quieter residential streets. Enough food offered that you get a full meal! I understand Tokyo better now thanks to Andy. Must to when in Tokyo! Highly recommended. Thank you for a great afternoon! The Oyaki (waffle/pancake) was from the place any took us, had to have another on the way back!

Great day with Andy who knows his stuff. Did the tour on our first day of our trip. We tried some foods we had never heard of, and stuff we searched out later in the rest of our holiday! Andy is a great guide and took us off to local areas, not just the main tourist stops. It was a more like a friend showing you their food haunts, rather that a guide going through the motions. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a taste of local Tokyo.
