About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- K408BEmarkr0 contributionsBeautiful Mountain Hike - tour covers all the basesI did the Fuji 2 Day hike 16-17 July 2024. An interesting note - while I booked the trip through Tokyo Gaijins the actual trip up the mountain was accomplished by VIP Tour which was fine as they work out of the Mt Fuji Miharashi facility at the 5th station (Yoshida Trailhead). Nice setup with a gear rental shop, gift shop, coffee bar, restaurant and climber break area (on the 3rd floor). What appealed to me was the flexibility of their hiking plan, I was able to enjoy all the benefits, pickup in front of the Shinjuku Post Office (and return), overnight hut, onsen visit, etc., but didn't have to participate in a line of ducks march up (down) the mountain behind a guide. I was free to move at my own pace limited only by checkin time restrictions. Despite not being a fan of organized, overnight treks I have to say this was an exception. Highly recommend. Some considerations: take lots of 100 Yen coins, toilet use requires 200 to 400 yen per visit. Mountain hut has no heat nor "house" shoes so if you don't like walking around in socks take your own. They do have shoes for the toilet area. Water, soft drinks, snacks, etc. are available for purchase from the fifth station to the tenth - marked up prices. Check the weather, I got rained on and clothes/shoes got wet so plan accordingly. Mtn hut had no dry room facilities, not even a clothes line. The Yoshida (Fujiyoshida) Trail has both an ascent and a descent route. The ascent involves climbing up rock outcrops while the descent is fully on a maintenance access road. All are well signed (and color coded - Yellow) plus there are persons at key areas to help guide you. I walked alone and had no issues. No trash cans anywhere, not even at the 5th station so take extra bags for your trash. Finally read up on Japanese bus, hut and onsen etiquette.Written 22 July 2024
- alakers0 contributionsWonderful day trip from TokyoWe were extremely fortunate to have a sunny, clear day and saw Fuji in all her glory! The lunch was great, the gondola ride was fun and the pirate ship ride was a nice way to end the day. Big shout out to Nori, who was a great guide.Written 24 June 2024
- 903candyf0 contributionsA very enjoyable tour with exemplary serviceWe were very fortunate to have Silvy as our guide and Wei as our driver for this tour of Kamakura and Enoshima Island. They went out of their way to make the tour enjoyable and rewarding. We would definitely recommend HIS Tours to others wishing to visit these regions.Written 14 June 2024
- kimberlymA2615PG0 contributionsGood guides, terrible day trip. This day trip is 100% a tourist trap and I regret booking it. We boarded a very crowded and hot bus for a two hour drive to Mt. Fuji. Weather was not good, so we did not see Mt. Fuji, but they can't control the weather, so no issues here. We went up to the 4th station in Mt. Fuji and spent about 10 minutes before we had to get back in the bus for one hour and drove to a buffet for lunch. This lunch was by far and away the absolute worst food we had on our month-long trip to Japan. Everything was cold and not good at all. No effort of any kind by the restaurant and tour company to provide a good meal. After this, we rode the bus for about two hours to visit a very disappointing tourist trap that is a sulfur mine. We then took a gondola down to a pirate cruise that took us back to the bus for another hour drive to the train station. It would have been nice to see Mt. Fuji, but I do not believe that the views would have made up for the terrible experience. The tour guides were nice and explained things very well. The best part of the tour was getting into the shinkansen train and going back to Tokyo.Written 13 April 2024
- lwhitmandc0 contributionsGreat tour for first day in Sapporo!Megumi and Rie guided me on a wonderful, informative walking tour of Sapporo. Everything was well-timed, and they were able to answer all my questions. The view from the tower was just great, because you can see the full 360 degrees of the city. Also, the visit to the restoration of the original government building was nice; the care being taken to restore that building was very detailed. I could have stayed there a lot longer, because the exhibit depicting the origins and restoration were museum quality. This is a great tour to take on your first day, to get an overview of Sapporo. I do recommend this tour. Thank you, Megumi and Rie!Written 27 October 2023
- 134JulieM0 contributionsFabulous tour guide, not so fabulous sight seeingOur tourguide Taka was AMAZING - kind, attentive and full of knowledge. Unfortunately, every stop was extremely crowded which made the experience feel unauthentic, rushed and not enjoyable. Obviously not the tour operator's fault, but the tour is overly priced for what it is. Due to traffic our arrival to the first stop was delayed, which unfortunatley caused the return time to be delayed by 3 hours as well, meaning we returned to Tokyo at around 21:30, effectively ruining our last night in Tokyo. Again, not the tour operator's fault, however, we were asked to switch to another bus at the end of the tour due to the large amount of people taking the bullet train home and had to wait 20 minutes for a new bus. Disrespectful, when already knowing that we would arrive back more than 2,5 hours late.Written 18 July 2023
- Wander312894478530 contributionsOutstanding tour of Mount Fuji and Hakone!Angie gave a great tour! We enjoyed every part of our day and are very thankful we took this tour our first day in Tokyo! Mount Fuji wasn’t often visible, but we saw the peak a few times. The lunch was very good and more than we could eat. We loved the ninja village! It was an absolute highlight!Written 19 June 2023
- Shannon S0 contributionsDo not book with them. Total scamIt was a rainy weather day and instead of letting us know that nothing would be available on the tour they opted to load us on a bus drive us two hours away and then tell us all activities have been canceled. DO NOT BOOK. Asked for a refund and they gave me $40 ….absolute joke. Avoid at all costsWritten 9 April 2023
- orit i0 contributionsDissapointing, waste of timeThe logistics was well organised, but the guide was unqualified. I would expect that a guide in an English paid tour will be able to communicate in English. The guide was able to read in English from her script paper, but was unable to understand simple questions or even to say the correct numbers for the hour. The ride is very long from Tokyo and between the sites, I was expecting to hear some facts and stories about the location we are traveling at, rather than sitting in a silent bus for hours. Good points: The driver was very careful and safe, the guide assistant was able to communicate a bit better.Written 27 March 2023
- pammap640 contributionsBeautiful BuddhaPerhaps one of the most beautiful Buddha statues I have ever seen. Well worth the day excursion. Take time to study a bit about the history before you go.Written 23 March 2023

- Maria D0 contributionsGot itinerary, yummy foodThe tour and itinerary were really good, our guide Yoshio was very nice and friendly, the food was delicious and the gift shop at the rest honestly had the prettiest things I have seen in Japan so far, however the whole tour got delayed by one hour because we had to pick up a family that didn't make it to the pick up point, and this delayed the whole thing and caused stress for everybodyWritten 7 November 2022
- L2814QUandrewd0 contributionsCouldn’t find pick up locationCouldn’t find the pickup location, very poor instructions, so I missed the trip. My whole 3 days in Tokyo was focussed on this trip and it was ruined.Written 1 November 2022
- AEDryden10 contributionsRubbish avoidThe directions to the meeting place were very poor. The area is a maze and it’s difficult to find anything, my internet wasn’t working and no one knew wheee the statue was. I got there an hour before the meeting time but never found the meeting place and missed the trip. I paid £120 and I haven’t received a refund or a reply to my complaint so be warned.Written 29 October 2022
- 652Mp0 contributionsToo much time driving with little to no background information.Very long day start to end. If you take the coach return (don’t! Take the high speed train), it adds another 1+ hours because of return traffic. Very little commentary or information about any of the sites we visited. Too many stops and little time to explore. We we admonished off to rush to return to the bus on time. I wouldn’t recommend.Written 23 October 2022
