Fantastic Guide However A Very Misleading Tour Name And Tour Description By Tour Operator
I booked the Tokyo 6hr Instagram Highlights Private Tour to get a lot of content for our social media sites during my short stay in Tokyo. I was very clear with the tour operators of what I required from the tour when I booked, especially in regard to getting a lot of high quality social media content. I have taken similar instagram tours in many countries and they have all been excellent, and have met or exceeded our expectations. This tour was advertised as follows - Shrines and Street Art. Classical and Eccentric Beauty. Pop culture and Traditions. All of these come together to make Tokyo a truly photogenic city. Grab your camera and check out the most Instagrammable places in Tokyo! I was allocated Shuji, a 72 year old guide for this instagram tour. He was a wonderful man with a deep understanding of the culture and history of Japan and he spoke fluent English, however not your typical guide for a “Instagram Tour”. We had a wonderful 6 hour walking tour of many of the main sites of Tokyo and Shuji explained in detail, the history of each site we visited. Shuji also found a terrific restaurant for us to have lunch as I wanted to try Okonomiyaki, Osaka style while in Tokyo. Although I really appreciated Shuji’s extensive knowledge during the tour, the company should definitely not call this an instagram tour. On every other instagram tour I have done the guide is very experienced with getting the best shots and video for social media. They know every photo worthy location on our itinerary and they always suggest the best photography angles and framing and will want to take photos of you when you are travelling alone or as a couple. Shuji happily obliged when I asked jinn to take a photo of me, however it was very apparent that he was not experienced in taking quality photos for social media. If you are looking for a true “Instagram Tour” I would not recommend in booking this tour as the tour operator has used a very misleading tour name and tour description. However if you want a very good walking and history tour of Tokyo, I would definitely recommend taking a tour and requesting Shuji as your guide.

Quality experience on Private Tour of Otaru
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour led by Mr. Roy Aoki. He shared historical details of the many attractions we visited. The Otaru Museum, Otaru canal, the Shopping Street, Sake Brewery and the Kamaboko Factory were definitely highlights. We will definitely recommend Roy Aoki to any friends and family who plan to visit Otaru.

          Wonderful tour guide in Tokyo
Steve did an excellent job as guide on our 4-hour tour of Tokyo, making sure we hit all of the intended destinations. His narrative and provision of local tips on navigating the city ensured we had a great day in Tokyo.

          Great trip!
We had the wonderful trip today in Tokyo with our guide Mika. Visited Shinto and Buddhist shrines, the gates of the emperors palace, and went for a nice view on the Tokyo tower. There were lots of interesting facts about Japanese culture and got lots of pictures with my husband. Really enjoyed it. And thanks for helping us out with the navigation in Tokyo subway!

          Private Kyoto Tour with Tomy
My family of 5 had a tremendous private tour in Kyoto with Tomy. We only picked a couple of required spots and encouraged Tomy to use his experience to determine which temples, palace or gardens would best represent the culture and history that make Kyoto special. Tomy also factored the time and potential crowds to further maximize our experience. Lastly, Tomy picked out a wonderful lunch location and was all too willing to provide advice and guidance for the remaining days we had on our own. We recommend Tomy and would also like to thank our driver who safely navigated narrow streets and traffic on our behalf.

          Wonderful tour guide in Nikko
Yoshii is a very knowledgeable and organized tour guide. Our second and third days with him were in Nikko. On the second day we toured the World Heritage shrines and temples of Nikko. He gave us a lot of interesting historical information, cultural information and made sure we did not miss a thing. We had an excellent lunch of soba noodles on site. On the third day we toured the Okunikko area. As we were willing to hike a bit, Yoshii (a very experienced hiker) took us to Yudaki Falls where we began a lovely 8 km walk that passed several other falls and the nature reserve trail through Senjogohara Moor. We also saw Ryuzu Falls, the Futarasan-Jinga Shrine and Kegon Falls. Once again he made sure we did not miss any beautiful view or lovely place to stop. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with him.

          Fantastic tour with Nori!
My brother and I had a terrific day with Nori. He was extremely obliging and knowledgeable and happy to answer all of our questions. Although the tour was guided, it was at our own pace and Nori took us to a fantastic restaurant for lunch! Definitely recommending this experience and Nori for my friends and family visiting over the next 12months. A tour with Nori is a must!

A day with Tarsha in Tokyo
We had a pleasure being escorted by Tarsha on our private walking tour of Tokyo. She was just great - very knowledgeable, flexible and accommodating. We managed to hit a lot for places using walking and local transit (subway and buses). Loved the market, Ginza, Shibuya crossing, shrines and temples. Also enjoyed a small ramen place that she recommended for lunch. Tarsha did a great job taking us through the experience with her guidance and narratives. Would definitely recommend it!

Much more than expected on Nikko Tour
The tour was spectacular. Yumi took us to and described in great detail every place on our list, and more. Her depth of knowledge and her English were much greater than expected. Nikko is an amazing place, and we would never have gotten to see and learn about so many places here without having gone on this tour, and especially not without Yumi. Highly recommended!

Our guide, Hiro Chikata, suggested an itinerary beforehand which we liked, also advising us it was subject to change as we might wish. Hiro was very knowledgeable and was able to answer our many questions. He also knew the transportation systems very well so we were able to maximize our coverage and time. After visiting the Tsukiji Outer Market we proceeded to the Imperial Palace where Hiro knew foreign ambassadors would be arriving by horse drawn carriage to present their credentials to the Emperor and we were able to witness the rare event which had only been announced the previous evening due to security protocols. We also went Asakusa to visit the Shrine and take in the view of the area from the top of the Asakusa Tourist Information Center. Hiro then took us to lunch at a wonderful small sushi restuarant after which we proceeded to Shibuya and the Meiji Jingu Shrine. We then walked down Omotesando Street and through a shopping mall there before parting ways. Hiro actually stayed longer than he was scheduled to and made sure we got back on the correct subway line before leaving us. We never would have experienced and learned about what we did had we done it on our own. We highly recommend Hiro if you want an excellent tour of Tokyo

Delighted to learn that you are satisfied with the Tokyo Full-Day Tour of JGA. You were very lucky to grab an opportunity to see the first horse-drawn credentials dedication ceremony this autumn held in the Imperial Palace. Since the Sushi Bar we went to has only 8 chairs, I have invited very limited guests only. It has well preserved the Edo nigiri tradition. HIRO

My 17 year old son, in Tokyo for two weeks of language school, joined me for a full day private tour with Eriko. Eriko was prompt, organized, approachable and friendly. We let her pick the itinerary and weren’t disappointed as we went from Buddhist shrine, to anime district, to Shinto shrine to a fabulous lunch in a hip shopping district. Eriko shared history with facts - while checking in to adjust her depth of details to our personal liking. Eriko was also willing to share a bit about her own life in Japan when we asked. This made for more interesting conversation about Japanese culture and history. Thank you Eriko and JGA for making our day tour in Tokyo awesome. I am looking forward to the next guides we plan to meet in Nara and Kyoto.

We booked our private full day tour for 0930 the day after we arrived to get an early overview of Tokyo and, as first timers to Japan, learn how to use the Tokyo subway and see some of the major sights early in our stay.
Andy was a great guide and wonderfully patient as we were pretty tired.

He was in touch as soon as we booked the tour before our arrival and met all our sightseeing requests, provided a detailed itinerary prior, met us at our hotel, took snaps during the tour and forwarded them a few hours later.

He gave us an excellent cultural overview and lots of tips to make our holiday ahead much easier in Japan.

It's a great tour, but if you're just after an early orientation on your first day in Tokyo to learn the ropes, we'd recommend taking the half day tour, or take the full day tour on your second day. But the full day tour was fantastic and we slept very well that night.

Thank you for your wonderful review. Unfortunately, the weather was not good, and it rained at the last minute, but I'm glad it didn't turn out to be too bad and we were able to enjoy the tour. Tokyo's subways don't have many escalators or elevators, making changing between subways a chore. sorry. I agree with your opinion because the tour the day after arriving in Japan is very tiring. I had guests who came to Japan early in the morning and then went on tours, which were very surprising. If you have a chance to come to Japan again, I hope you can enjoy the tour at your leisure two days after your arrival. Andy

We booked the full day tour on the second day in Tokyo to learn and see as much as possible about this fascinating City. Seky our guide met us at our hotel at 9am. Seky was excellent and brought us to many of the sites while explaining their history and cultural significance. The six hour tour was exactly what we’d hoped for and could not recommend this enough especially if you’re lucky enough to have Seky as your guide.

Seizo Kaminto and my husband corresponded in email many months ahead of time, till Seizo came up with a very well-planned itinerary taking trains and subways around Tokyo. We landed early at Haneda, he’s been early as well and introduced himself and gave us an overview of the day’s plans. Plans had to change slightly because our young son got very tired walking and we keep requesting to sip cold drinks in cafes due to the July summer heat. We did not anticipate it would be very, very hot. The trains and subways seem complicated for us to take on our own, we could not have figured out how to get around without his help. He was extremely helpful and he patiently explained to us the train stops and how it connects to the next train line. We were able to see the outside of the Imperial Palace, the historic Asakusa and the entrance to the Meiji Shrine… all while explaining Japan’s wonderful history and even extra (making it more fun and relevant to us!). It was important for us to see the Pokemon Cafe, the Anime District, and the Happy Pancake. Seizo gladly and patiently granted our wish despite, moved from store to store to find the specific toys my son was looking for. He is just excellent! We are very lucky to have Seizo as our guide.

Thank you very much for your valuable and favorable comments on my guiding. It was a great honor for me to have the opportunity to guide you in Tokyo. It was my pleasure to guide you in Tokyo including Pokemon Cafe and Akihabara and I was very relieved that your son could buy the specific toys he was looking for. I wish you and your family the very best for the future. Best Regards Seizo Kamiuto

My guide Nobuo Kokure was extremely knowledgeable about all of the locations visited from Imperial Palace to Temples, Shrines, markets and shopping streets. His english was excellent and he had a wonderful and welcoming demeanour. I would thouroughly recommend this tour as it can be adapted to suit your own requirements. I have visited Japan many times before but it was amazing to go to places i hadn’t seen before. I have only ever used the Yamanote line which does a giant loop of the city and had never ventured into the Metro subways but with Nobuo’s help I now feel confident to use the Metro solo. Great tour!!

I’m very glad to hear that you had a good time in Tokyo Full-Day Private Tour sponsored by Japan Guide Agency, Inc. Thank you very much for your comment related to the tour and me. I feel very humbled to receive such words of undeserved praise. I’m also happy to hear that you feel confident now to use the METRO(subway)after the tour. May be some day in the near future, we may be able to meet with each other at the subway ticket counter in Tokyo. I hope you can continue having a safe and pleasant trip in Japan. Thank you! Nobuo

Hakura was simply the best tour guide we have encountered during our two-month Asia visit, which included Việt Nam and Cambodia. She speaks English like an American (she is married to one) and is extremely knowledgeable and well organized. She suggested a great one-day itinerary for us and guided my wife and me (two 70-something Chicagoans) expertly through the mysteries of Tokyo public transit. We loved every minute of her tour, especially a dining experience at a restaurant frequented by locals. We only wish we had scheduled more tour days with Haruka — she’s that good. Hiring Hakura was one of the best decisions of our trip.

We were a family of four adults completing our tour of the region with a two day first time stopover in Tokyo. Booking a private tour with a licensed guide - Andy was the best thing we could have done to get a sense of the beauty and history of Tokyo. Andy had planned out our day to hit the highlights we wanted to see and he added a few of his favourites to our day that really made it very special, the lights on the trees at one of the gardens (sorry, I don't have the name, see picture). I highly recommend a guided tour when visiting Tokyo, and with so much to see, we will do another guided tour next time we are back.

Thank you for your very nice review. Yes, it was the best time to enjoy Autumn Leaves in Tokyo. We enjoyed them at the Imperial Palace, Tokyo Station, and Rikugien Park where we enjoyed the illuminated trees. It was a very warm and wonderful time to spend with your close family. Please come again in early April when the cherry blossom trees are beautiful. Andy

We had an amazing two days with our flexible and knowledgeable guide Kazu Hakata. He had excellent communication before the trip and also organised a tea ceremony for us. He changed the itinerary around the typhoon so that we were indoors during the very rainy parts. Kazu could answer our many questions from life in modern Japan and the many historical aspects to this beautiful city. Highly recommend.

Thank you very much for your kind message. Even during typhoon day, we could manage to visit many places without disturbed much. We saw Shinto Marriage Ceremony at Meiji shrine, enjoyed retro area, and very calm Rikugi en park. We think we were very lucky. Hope you will return again to Japan and explore new charmes. Thank you. KAZU

A wonderful day spent with an exceptional tour guide. I have been fortunate enough to have done a decent amount of travelling, but I have never had an experience like the one with Kazuo! 2 weeks in advance of the booking he started gathering information to create an itinerary with recommended stops and food! He answered all of our questions and ensured we were well prepared before we arrived. On the tour day he was excellent at navigating the crowds and ensuring our time was well spent - he also takes great pictures! Thank you for a wonderful day Kazuo! If you get him as your guide consider yourself very lucky 😊

Thank you very much for the good review of my guide service. Since you were so kind, respectful and considerate from the beginning of our correspondence, I could be enthusiastic about preparing your itinerary and guiding on the tour date. I was also surprised that you and your wife quickly mastered the use of chopsticks at a ramen restaurant. I appreciate you giving a word of prize as to my photo taking technique. You may enjoy exploring Japan not only in Tokyo but also in other major cities. Please have a wonderful day! Kazuo
