History of Koreans in Japan is fascinating
Ferdinand is a very knowledgeable guide. Osaka Castle is beautiful, as are its surroundings. Our guide spoke excellent English, and was very patient with my 1000 questions. He also shared insights about moving to and living in Japan, which were very interesting. I also enjoyed hearing about the history of Koreans in Japan, and seeing their food district.

Fine Dining and French Flair in Osaka
Our Osaka night food tour with Ferdinand from Pinpoint Traveler was an absolute feast, both for our stomachs and our social skills! As a Frenchman, he brought top-tier food wisdom and the effortless charm of a fashionable sophisticate. With just four of us, it felt like a VIP feast. 10/10 would waddle away again!

          Great overview of Osaka
Nice walk through multiple parts of Osaka. Was able to see Osaka castle and hear about it's history. Hugo knew a lot and had an interesting perspective as an outsider with lots of experience within Osaka and Japanese cultures. Great way to start out the trip here and would definitely do again!

          Beyond the Bite!
Our Osaka food tour with Bryan was nothing short of extraordinary. We journeyed through the vibrant neighborhoods of Temma and Kobayashi, where Bryan introduced us to an array of unique tapas-style dishes— which included some very unexpected ingredients! Beyond the food, the tour was an immersive dive into local life. A detour to a nearby supermarket provided a genuine slice of everyday Japanese culture. We also experienced the city’s pulsating subculture while walking past local clubs and bars, offering a deeper understanding of Osaka’s dynamic social scene. In every way, this wasn’t your typical food tour. It was an expertly curated exploration of Osaka’s culinary delights and cultural nuances, making it a standout highlight of our trip to Japan. Highly recommended for anyone eager to experience the authentic and unexpected sides of this incredible city! Thank you Bryan!

Tour of small local restaurants that a tourist will not find.
We had a great tour with Ferdinand. He's French and loves food and knows his food He is also well versed in lots of local culture and history. We went to three very small local places that 99% of tourists would not step into. We didn't even see any tourists walking on the streets these restaurants are located. The first place is a small standup "tapas" type of bar. We had a drink and a couple of small dishes just as the locals would after work. We then went to a restaurant with set menu and finished off at a third place where we ordered off the menu. Based on the photos posted, it appears they change up the places they go to which makes it more interesting. Ferdinand was very accommodating given my wife's various food allergies. He's open and honest with his opinions and an engaging conversationalist. All in all, if you want to go where locals go on a regular night out and not looking for fancy Michelin star restaurants, then this is for you.

Osaka Castle Grounds and surrounding sites.
I would have rated this experience higher except for the fact that while the tour patrons were either early or on time at the correct pick up point, the guide was not and didn’t show up there. We received a call from the tour company representative nearly 45 minutes later to tell us our guide was sick. We were offered the option of a refund or their attempt to find a replacement. We all agreed to opt for a potential replacement. ; Hugo met is on the Castle grounds and we were off. He turned out to be a excellent guide who made every effort to atone for his colleague’s late decision to skip. Hugo is an exceptionally gifted and highly informative guide; he had an answer for our questions and was humble enough to admit when he didn’t.

Osaka History and Culture Brought to Life
Ferdinand was a fantastic guide. His knowledge of Osaka history and culture was extremely impressive and provided amazing context for all of the sites. The tour was such a great blend of historical landmarks and underground culture, many of the things we saw we never would have even known about on our own.

Would NOT recommend this tour! Little about food and more about the red light district of Osaka.
This was the worst food tour I have ever done. Way overpriced for what you get. Little food and our guide Damien was more interested in the ladies bars and hotels where locals go for one night stands and where men go when they cannot get with ladies in ladies bar afterwards. I booked this tour for FOOD not the red light district tour of Osaka. It looked like he did not want to be there and kept looking at his watch and rush us. I do NOT recommend this tour if you want to to know more about food of Osaka.

          Kevin was an amazing guide
We have friends in NYC who recommended this tour. Were they right!! We opted for being picked up at and delivered back to our hotel. It is great that you offer this service for an added fee. We had been in Osaka but a few hours and did not know our way around. Kevin met us and escorted us to the meet up place. Everyone was prompt. We are old enough to be the parents of the other 5 guests. They were wonderful, smart and curious. That was really fun for us and I hope it was OK for them, too. It was an international albeit English-speaking group from the US, Germany and Ireland. Kevin explained a whole lot more than food. He is so intelligent and well- informed. He is a native of Los Angeles and a multi-year resident of Osaka. We saw and learned things we never would have on our own. He is a great guide. He had a well-planned route and pivoted smoothly when one restaurant lacked space. There were three drinks per person allotted but I stuck to water. The number of plates - tapas-style - was astounding. He accommodated pescatarians and vegetarians with no trouble. He even was kind enough to include an Osaka specialty I really wanted to try because I had less than 24-hours in town: okonomiyaki. It was delicious! I wish I had known of your other tours in other Japanese cities in time to take them.

A private tour of Osaka was ideal for our group as I was travelling with three kids 14,12 and 9! We visited and had time to meander around ancient Shinto temples as well as short stops along the way that were targeted towards my three kids. Our knowledgeable English speaking guide Kevin has lived in Japan for over 30 years and was able to provide interesting insights into Japanese history, culture and customs. The private tour was handy in an air conditioned van (no complaints from tired kids) and Kevin knew where to park which was in close proximity to the sights to minimise walking (I’d injured my ankle before the trip so for this I was grateful!) We had a moorish lunch (ramen and chicken and rice) at a family run quaint husband and wife restaurant, which turned out to be a memorable highlight because they were so hospitable and engaging with the kids! Thank you for a great day and memories we will cherish forever.

My husband and I had an excellent private tour of Osaka with our guide/driver, Hugo, on November 16. Hugo met us at the Osaka train station as we arrived from Kyoto. Hugo is a charming young Frenchman with a great/sly sense of humor, excellent English and the rare ability to drive and guide. He knew places to park where we could walk with him to the various sites, rather than just dropping us off as some driver/guides have done. Not Hugo, he was very informative and provided great insight and info throughout the day, walking every step with us. During the day we saw Osaka Castle, Shitennoji Temple, had lunch in a local restaurant, visited Shinsekai (where we learned about Billiken and Pachinko, among other things), learned about Konbini, which are everywhere and walked through a Lawson (to compare to our native WaWas), strolled through Sennichimae and on to Dotombori, then back to the train. It was a full day but wonderful. We really enjoyed our conversation and time with Hugo and hearing about his experiences of life in Japan. Great communication before and after the tour, including taking many photos for us. Highly recommended!

We had a fantastic day exploring Osaka! Our guide Levy was lovely, knowledgeable and fun. We were driven around to various sites and at each our guide gave us a bit of history/background. We all said that while we could have in theory visited these places on our own we wouldn’t have gotten nearly as much out of it without the commentary. Mix of historical sites, shopping/food areas etc.
even though it’s a tour with a driver these still a bit of walking which we enjoyed, allowed us to explore a bit.
Levy our guide really was excellent, a genuinely nice guy. He helped us sort out our Shinkansen tickets and gave us some recommendations on other things to do while in Osaka which was really appreciated
Both adults and kids (11 and 13 year olds) thought it was fantastic. Even the 13 yr old said it was great and we don’t normally get praise out of him lol.
If you’re in Osaka and want to tick off a few of the main sites easily and have fun doing it I’d highly recommend

We were in Osaka for only one complete day and Kevin, our tour guide, was able to show us most of the not to miss! My husband had a little accident just starting our tour and Kevin solved it immediately so we were able to continue our tour. Took us to lunch to a lovely local place where we tasted excellent Japanese food. He scheduled the tour in a way that we were able to enjoy most iconic places in Osaka in 6 hrs !

We booked with Kevin for a tour of Osaka on a cruise stop. We were so excited, but due to a typhoon, our stop to Osaka had to be diverted. I was able to communicate this to Kevin once I obtained wifi at one of our stops. He was so understanding and kindly refunded the deposit we paid for the tour. I am so grateful and appreciative of Kevin and his team for their professionalism, credibility, and sincere concern for our well-being.

Really enjoyed our 1 day tour of Osaka with Tomas! Tomas was a fantastic guide who is very knowledgeable on Japan’s history, culture, and customs. We greatly enjoyed hearing about his experiences living in Japan and stories that you won’t find in a tourist guidebook. We managed to do, see, learn, shop, and eat at a great many places, and were comfortably driven around Osaka. He also had a great sense of humour which was much appreciated! Thank you Tomas for the wonderful to experience of Osaka!

Our guide was excellent company, fun to spend the day with. Worth every yen!

I really appreciated it how he pointed out the non-original parts and focused on the interesting bits. Instead of looking the most touristy bits we got to go around tiny restaurants, sample in the fish market, go to a flea marker...

        Truly recommend.

It took me a while to pen this because I want to make sure it’s the best review for this travel agent. Right from the start , Kevin, the boss ,stands out from other travel agents that I have contacted . He is super responsive and accommodating. We are a rather big group with elderly and it really wasn’t easy to plan this trip but Kevin had made the planning process easy. But that’s only the beginning! We are met with the nicest , kindest , most responsible driver/guide for the entire trip. His name is shoji. He is the kindest driver we have ever met, helping my aged parents the entire trip and acceded to our requests many times. Our trip may not be so smooth sailing without Shoji. Shoji, as mentioned, thanks for being tolerant with us , I know many times it hasn’t been easy especially during meal times but you have shown your professionalism and have been tremendously patient with us. Kevin , my boys enjoyed the night tour and possibly an eye opener for them. They love your jokes.
So once again, I do apologise for the inconvenience we may have caused. But I want others to know this is the best company to engage if you are considering to go Osaka or the Kansai region . You won’t regret it!

Wow, KJ! Thanks for writing such a detailed, rave review of our services!! I have already shared your comments with Shoji, and he is super-pleased to hear that you had such a good time with him at the helm. As for the night tour, that was such a good time for me too! Your boys were lots of fun, but I enjoyed spending time with all of you equally. Thanks again, and we hope to see you (or one of your referrals!) again someday soon.

*Likely to sell out: Based on Viator’s booking data and information from the provider from the past 30 days, it seems likely this experience will sell out through Viator, a Tripadvisor company.
