- Cowcoptravellers0 contributionsSpending time with the elephantsWe had the most amazing morning with the elephants and the team at the sanctuary. Lovely to see the elephants roaming freely and being well looked after by passionate people. - paulkay620 contributionsEveryone with a conscious should visit & support these sanctuaries.Wonderful experience, well organised & informative guide Dannis. Shown video on arrival & very sad to see that cruelty still goes on for these majestic animals. Sanctuary is ethical & will soon open the first veterinary hospital in Phuket which is so needed. Got to feed the elephants & walk the sight with them & their cahoots. Excellent refreshments provided. A must visit.Written 13 February 2025
- Vacationer8185780 contributionsEthical elephant sanctuaryAmazing place very knowledgeable and informative staff. The opening video is very hard to watch but very necessary to show how the elephants are trained and why it is necessary to protect the elephants. Again value for money as well informative.Written 13 February 2025
- jsquidge10 contributionsBest ethical experienceThis was the best trip we have ever experienced on all our travels. We visit many destinations and this is a not to be missed experience if you like an ethical adventure. We fed and walked alongside the elephants in their open habitat. The guide we had for one hour “Jeffy” was very knowledgeable and told us everything about all the elephants and how they have been rescued and their health needs. We had breakfast, refreshments, lunch cold towels and pre-arranged transfers to and from our hotel in Patong, all booked on their website before leaving the UK. All together it cost about £150 and wouldn’t have missed it for the world.Written 12 February 2025

- Magnumbazzer0 contributionsFinally, an ethical elephant sanctuary in ThailandThis was our 4th trip to Thailand and, finally, we have found an ethical elephant sanctuary. No rides, no circus tricks, no cruelty, just love and care for injured, sick or elderly elephants. If you want to see elephants in an environment that is as close to the wild as you can get, then this is it. Yes, you can still get up close to the elephants and feed them but you have to wash your hands first and there is no petting allowed. All of the elephants here have been rescued from circuses, logging or cruelty and will now spend the remaining decades of their lives being cared for in a humane environment with all of their personal needs met as naturally as possible. There are vidoes to learn about how this sanctuary is so different to all of the others, and the incredible staff will fill you in on all of the rest of the information that you need as you either walk through the forests or, as we did, take to the amazing canopy walkway which, in my opinion, is the best way to see them. I cannot rate this sanctuary highly enough and would recommend it to all families visiting the area.Written 10 February 2025
- dannystu380 contributionsToo class 1/2 day tourWhat a great experience - organisation of taxi’s, staff knowledge and customer service and lunch. Great to see a private organisation associated with animals doing the right think in a region where animal laws need to change! Learnt a lot about a cruel trade and the elephant sanctuary setting out to invoke change and hopefully others will follow suit including the Thai government!Written 9 February 2025
- E6356DZ_0 contributionsAwesome time! One of the best spots on Phuket: they actually save elephants from slavery rather having then sing and dance. Noble cause and worth all money.Written 8 February 2025

God Bless this Sanctuary. They buy the old female elephants (as males are precious because of their ivory that keeps on growing even when it is cut and so are not sold while the females who have lugged all their healthy lives and reproduced can now go but at a price) who are handicapped in some way, and look after them. In the full day program, we made food for the elephants, went to cut bamboo leaves and fed them at a distance. The elephants were not tied in chains and were happy. We saw them in the open space, bathing themselves in water, doing hydrotherapy. I really pray and wish all animals are happy and safe and free, and I send love to all the elephants of this earth. Blessings to this Sanctuary. As they need money to feed them and buy them, they need our financial support. Please go to this sanctuary to help support it. It’s sick that after abusing these elephants , the original owners still want money to let them go- elephants that have lost an eye or leg is injured or ear is cut - doesn’t matter to these ‘humans’- the original owners still want money to let them go to a sanctuary 😔💔. People, please don’t ride elephants or be interested in watching them do tricks. They are abused to show you 2 minutes of tricks. Please rather come to a sanctuary where you can see them in their natural habitat and your ticket money will provide for their well being. I sincerely pray things change and all animals are taken care of. Safe and free and healthy. May Love reign.

Raising awareness about the mistreatment elephants endure to become docile is vital, and it is our responsibility to understand this issue.
Thanks to the efforts of projects like Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, we can learn about the situation and support their ethical care practices. I loved the experience; they thoughtfully balanced the well-being of the elephants with creating a meaningful experience for visitors.
Feeding the elephants with some fruits was a lovely moment, but the highlight was preparing a soft meal of rice, pumpkin, and bananas for an elderly elephant without teeth, ensuring she could eat comfortably.
The sanctuary features a platform for observing the elephants from above, and we also walked around the grounds, seeing them from a respectful distance. From the beginning to the end of the day, it was amazing; the visit even included a delicious buffet breakfast and lunch for visitors.

This sanctuary embodies the ethical way on how to rehabilitate elephants and then natural habitat, and also learning as to why it is dangerous to have these animals working and abused in the entertainment industry. I had an up close encounter with the elephants and it was a great time ! We are habitat.

Today was incredible. Not only are the elephants well treated, but their well being comes before everything else. If the elephant is social, then you can come closer ; if not, a private home will be made to make it feel safe.
I learned a lot and ate very well. The guides are able to answer all your questions, and know the elephants by names, background, medical conditions, and habits.
I was able to prepare food for them and feed them by hand. The half day tour is very good too ; the difference is that you get closer, for longer, with the day "in the footsteps of giant". You also participate more and take an active role, understanding better what it means to care for elephants.
SO, I really recommand this experience. And if not this one, than the half day one ! Worth every penny, and more, since it all goes to help sustain these elephants' sanctuary (and promotes ethical tourism).

My husband and I were absolutely blown away by Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, our full day experience will be a core memory of mine for the rest of our life.
The sanctuary itself is beautiful and well looked after and all staff members and volunteers are joyful to be around.
I was incredibly happy to purchase this experience and help fund the sanctuary into buying more elephants out of the mainstream abusive tourism trade which is throughout Phuket.
If you are in Phuket, this is a must do experience!

I booked the full day tour and was treated to the most amazing experience with my guide Aoum. The morning was in a small group which was informative and relaxing and then after a delicious lunch being the only day tour participant I had a 1:1 experience. Making food and feeding the elephants was magical watching them swim was delightful but the highlight was seeing all those graceful ladies moving freely around and learning to build friendships.

Only place in Phuket you should be interacting with elephants, this ethical elephant sanctuary is incredible!!! I volunteered for 3 days and let me tell you I did not want to leave. I spent three days making food, cleaning their rooms, walking with the elephants in the forest, bamboo and banana leaf picking and spending so much time with each of the elephants (especially Fah Mui :))
I went on the usual tour everyone goes on and it was great but I encourage everyone to volunteer, you get to give back to these amazing animals after they’ve been abused for years in the tourism industry and the employees do an incredible job to let you interact with the elephants and get a feel for what its really like.
Because I did 3 days they put me on in a beautiful home stay connected to an amazing cafe and gave me breakfast/lunch/dinner each day.
This place truly changed my life, I can’t thank them enough for the hard work they put into giving these beautiful creatures the life they deserve.

This is an experience I won't forget, the staff are really wonderful and friendly. The elephant keepers and guides care for the elephants really well. You can see this is an ethical park and the elephants are safe and cared for so well.
We did the full day tour which meant we got to make food for the elephants and feed them, this was a magical experience to be so up close and personal with such beautiful animals.
Would highly recommend to anybody coming to Phuket as this is the only ethical elephant sanctuary where you can see it's about the animals not the tourist and money.

I recently spent a full day at the Phuket Elephant Sanctuary, and it was nothing short of amazing! This sanctuary is a shining example of what it means to prioritize the welfare of elephants—especially those who are disabled or retired from logging and tourism. The full-day tour is a must if you want to immerse yourself in the experience and see more of the sanctuary.
We had the chance to get hands-on with feeding the elephants, learning about their care, and even helping to prepare their food. The staff were incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, answering all our questions and sharing heartwarming stories about the elephants’ lives. The facilities were spotless, and the food provided for visitors was excellent.
This sanctuary does wonderful work, and I can’t recommend it enough. It’s a fantastic day out for all the family, and by visiting, you’re supporting a truly worthy cause.

The whole morning run like clockwork, from hotel collection to drop off.
When we arrived at the sanctuary we had a snack and drink and then watched a short video, explaining the reason the sanctuary was set up. We were then broken into small groups. After feeding the elephants, we walked around the sanctuary with our guide Alex to observe the elephants. Alex was extremely knowledgeable about all the elephants and more than happy to answer any questions we had or take photos. The elephants seem completely relaxed and comfortable in their surroundings, which was great to witness. The day finished with a meal, which was delicious. Highly recommended.
