About the operator
Don’t take it from us – here’s what people have to say about this operator:
- Navigator007069431540 contributionsAmazing experienceWe did the customized tour for our vacation (~10 days) and worked with Raj to plan everything. He was amazing- he was incredibly receptive and we were able to communicate with him throughout the whole trip whenever we had any questions or wanted to make any changes. He organized all of our lodging and transportation and tour guides- we basically didn’t need to do anything other than tell him where we wanted to go!Written 22 March 2025
- Marc Jean B0 contributionsGreat day tour with local guideThis was a great day tour that started with the breathtaking Gyuto Monastery and follwed by the Norbilinka Institute where our guide Hemraj of Himachal by Locals explained us a lot about the Tibetan culture, we visited a beautiful tea plantation and had the opportunity to taste the yea of our choice, we were then taken to Naddi View Point with a grandiose view of nearby Himalaya range, before a lunch in typical tibetan restaurant we had a short stop at the Church St. John of the Wilderness, after lunch there was a hike to the beautiful Baghsu Waterfall and last not least the Dalai Lama Temple was a must. All in all this tour was fully worth the money spent and we can recommend to go for it. You certainly won't regret it and will take beautiful memories of your stay in Dharamshala and Mc Leod GanjWritten 8 March 2025

He provided excellent service and communicated often to make are everything was going well. Our guide, Mr Onkar, is friendly and informative and met all of us ur needs. - Roam343583773550 contributionsGreat ExperienceThis was a great tour. The guide was someone who grew up in Kangra, so it was great to learn about how he grew up and not just the historical aspects of where we went.Written 26 February 2025
- Roam343583773550 contributionsGreat experience! The guide was great. He made sure that I was alright the whole time. He took his time to make sure I didn't slip or fall at any time during the snowy parts of the trek. I would go with them again.Written 26 February 2025
- AditiChandak0 contributionsShimla - vibrant and vintage. We took the Shimla tour and our guide Khem ji Verma was brilliant! He was accomodating of health restrictions, tapered itinerary on the go as per our interests and was quite knowledgeable about not just the history of the place but the cultural losses, impact of natural forces and the rapid urbanization of the area. Definitely recommend their guided tours for that extra insight that only locals can provide.Written 18 February 2025
- 797alaynec0 contributionsSurpassed my ExpectationsWith only a 3 day stay in Dharmasala, I signed up for the one day trek to Triund, where I would get a taste of the majestic Himalayas. The hike completely surpassed my expectations, filling me with a sense of wonder and awe. The exceptionally friendly and knowledgeable guide pointed out the names of trees and birds. He was attentive to my needs and safety the entire day and guided me through the more challenging, rockier parts. The view of the Himalayas from Triund filled me with reverence. The tiny cafe had savory, delicious food, which replenished my energy. I felt completely safe and satisfied with every aspect of this beautiful one day trek.Written 16 February 2025
- SJK0790 contributionsExcellent TourThis trip covered all the highlights we needed to do cover for short visit to Dharamshala. Very personalized tour. Brought us to the Tibetan Medicine museum as well—since both of us are in healthcare business and dal lake was dry and not worth seeing. The guide, Mr. Vikram was knowledgeable and spoke excellent (American) English. Driver Kunal was a seasoned mountain driver we felt safe. If you want to touch every highlight in a brief visit, book them! You would not regret booking this outstanding private tour.Written 7 February 2025
- drapere0 contributionsGreat trip.Started the day with a short drive to a stunning viewpoint and a walk ( or, in my case, a clamber) to an even higher point. Anyone who watched ' The Far Pavilions' will be able to picture what I saw. We went onto a Temple, a Monastery and a Covent all of which were far more interesting than it sounds. Onto the Norbulingka Institute to see the amazing skills of Tibetan craftspeople, engaged in traditional crafts such as metal and woodwork. The setting was absolutely beautiful in gardens with bougainvillea blossom and water features. Once again, an informative and highly enjoyable time. Recommended, and as a solo female, felt totally safe.Written 6 February 2025
- Chanda F0 contributionsHighlight of our trip!We had such a nice time! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of our questions. He even got a monk to bless us. This was a highlight of our trip to India.Written 5 February 2025
- Vacationer7362610 contributionsViews you normally only see on postcardsMy family and I did the Triund Trek, and whilst it certainly can be quite challenging in places, the views are incredible and well worth the effort. Himachal By Locals were an extremely professional tour operator and their communication leading up to the trek was first class. They even arranged transport for us to the starting point for a very small additional fee. Finally, if you book this tour I would strongly recommend requesting Mr Ranjit. A local to the area, he answered every question we had and assisted the members of our group through the trickier parts of the trail! Overall, an amazing experience!Written 6 January 2025

Had an amazing time with Mr Ashok! I learned so much and was, therefore, able to appreciate Dharamshala and the Tibetan community here much more deeply. Of course, you could visit all of these sites on your own, but without the extensive knowledge of a guide, like Mr. Ashok, you wouldn’t truly understand the magic and beauty that is this special place. He answered all my many questions and knows all the shortcuts! I highly recommend this tour!

A really interesting and informative excursion during which I learnt so much! We took in temples, the Tibetan Museum and the Dalai Lama's residence complex. We went to the seat of the Tibetan Government in exile and saw the most amazing archives of ancient manuscripts. We walked down forested pathways and saw monkeys and Tibetan Prayer Wheels. For the first time I really understand the Mantras. Lunch was taken in a small restaurant in the Government compound and I chose the best momos of my stay in India so far. Brilliant!
As a solo woman, I choose guides and excursions carefully. This choice was perfect.

Without a plan and with little knowledge about the place and Tibetan Buddhism I ended up in Mc LoadGanj. I am very grateful that I spent this day with guide Onkar. An experienced friendly nice guide with a wealth of history and cultural knowledge. I learned a lot. Many seeds were planted. The experience of being here is much more layered after this tour and its sets a good foundation to build on. I love it. Highly recommended. Kind regards, Melissa

My experience was very good in Mcleodganj where witnessed beautiful Tibet culture and the way the little boys embrace this culture is beautiful.
There is some difference in this place rather to other hilly places as here the Tibetan culture make this place more beautiful and unique.
Do visit the place to have a beautiful experience with peace and solace .

A wonderful tour, highly recommended. Very difficult area to get around on your own so assistance invaluable. Magnificent scenery everywhere, waterfall, lake, Buddhist temples, tea garden, even a tiny Anglican church and all at your own pace. Not to be missed

Our guide, Vikas Kumar took us around the Buddhist sites in Mcleodganj. He explained to us, in very good English, the details and history various monasteries including His Highness Dalai Lama's journey and refuge in India, the history of Mcleodganj before the arrival of the Tibetan refugees etc.
