- duw12030 contributionsThe various aspects of Asakusa through a rickshaw ride.We already used the Eibsuya Kyoto rickshaw service in December 2019. Discovering Asakusa through a rickshaw ride was among our to-do list whilst discovering Japan and we were not disappointed by our choice. We were guided by Tiga and he helped us to discover Asakusa through another lense. The ride was around the Senso-Ji Temple, the Matsuchiyama Shoden Temple, the Skytree tower and Kannonura old streets. It was an unforgettable experience and having used the rickshaw as the transport means symbolizes a link with our mother country where rickshaws are still very much used.Written 6 March 2020

We went for a 45min rickshaw tour through Asakusa with Takayanagi, and it was so much fun! Takayanagi said his English wasn’t good, but for two people who don’t speak any Japanese, he successfully guided the tour while showing us the sights of the area without any problem. I don’t think he gives himself enough credit. To top it off, his kindness and lightheartedness really shined through the entire time, and made the experience so wonderful. For anyone also going to Kyoto, taking a tour in Asakusa also resulted with us receiving a discount voucher for tours in Kyoto (not sure if it’s a limited time off r, but for us, it worked out great!) Thanks again Takayanagi!

Dear Jeff,
Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with us in Tokyo Asakusa. We are very happy to hear that you had a good time exploring the Asakusa area with our guide Takayanagi.
Though Takayanagi is not completely fluent in the English language, we are really thankful that you appreciated his efforts when he showed you around. Our guides are always practising and looking to improve their foreign language skills, so when you come to Asakusa next time, I'm sure his skills will have made some progress!
The discount coupon is valid for three years from the date of issue (there are some dates in Tokyo and Kyoto when it can not be used, please see the backside of the coupon), and you can use it at any of our 11 branches in Japan within those three years.
Come and visit us again some day, we would love to meet you again some day and to show you around!

Dear E3558KR_
Thank you very much for taking a rickshaw tour with our guide Takayanagi in Tokyo Asakusa! Thank you also very much for the bilingual comment!
Asakusa is arguable one of the few places in Tokyo where you can still feel and experience the old Japanese culture. The rickshaw tour will take you through the area, showing you around while our experienced and knowledgeable guide will share his knowledge with you so you can really enjoy Asakusa from the perspective of a local. So he can not only tell you the history of the location but also give tips on where to eat, drink or shop if you need ideas for after the tour.
Come and visit us again some day!

I was on a 48 hour layover traveling back to the U.S. with my two year old and wanted to explore the historic parts of Tokyo in a fun manner. We booked a 90 minute rickshaw tour via online the night prior. When we arrived, they were very friendly, and were able to scan the e-ticket no problem. We had a wonderfully friendly and energetic guide, Koyo, who spoke to us in perfect English all while running around town and sharing with us his knowledge. Admittedly my son was overtired, and Koyo was so kind to find ways to interest my son, such as looking for ninjas and stopping so we could shop in the Hello Kitty store. He took lots of pictures for us, and was such a delightful person to be with. After spending our time with Koyo, I felt acquainted enough with the area to explore on our own comfortably. I highly recommend and would suggest even a longer tour (had my son not had the jitters). Thank you, Koyo! 😊🙏

I made a reservation when I went to Asakusa with my best friend. It was my first time riding a rickshaw, so I was nervous at first. I was wearing a kimono and sandals, so it was difficult to keep my balance, but they supported me with their hands and got me on.
It was a bit chilly that day, but they had a warming device on the seat and a blanket (lap blanket) was also placed on me, so I didn't feel cold at all even while riding.
While riding, I could feel the wind and sometimes we went quite fast, so it was a lot of fun.
The scenery seen from the rickshaw was completely different from the scenery seen on foot, so I was able to enjoy it from a different perspective.
During the 45-minute course, they took a lot of wonderful photos at each photo spot with their smartphone at the best angle.
In addition to posing, they considered the way the sun was hitting the spot, and took photos from the side and back.
Their camera skills were also amazing.
They also took me around parts of Asakusa that I had never known before, and I was able to learn about many new places.
I was surprised to see backstreets, the latest spots, and famous restaurants that only those in the know would know about.
The conversation during the ride was also very fun, and the rickshaw driver had a lot of knowledge about Asakusa, and he taught me a lot of things.
He occasionally threw in jokes to keep the customers entertained, and I felt his professionalism in that way.
After the ride, he even fixed the obi belt on the back of my kimono, and I was moved by his warm consideration until the very end.
I'm really glad I rode in the rickshaw.
I was very satisfied.
Thank you to Tanaka Yuki-san for transporting me.
I had a very good time, and it's a memory that I'll cherish forever.
After the rickshaw ride, I wanted to take a photo in front of Kaminarimon, but just when I thought it would be difficult to take a photo because there were so many people, another person from Ebisu-ya called out to me and said, "I'll just take a photo for you," and took a photo for me.
He took the best and most beautiful photos, and I was very impressed with his service.
I once again realized how wonderful the people at Ebisu-ya are.
Also, next time I ride a rickshaw, I will request Ebisu-ya.
Thank you very much.

Our family (with kids aged 3 and 5) had the pleasure of experiencing a rickshaw ride with Ebisuya n Asakusa with Taku. It was an absolute delight. Taku was nothing short of amazing. He had an incredible ability to connect with my two young kids, and had them laughing throughout the entire ride. They quickly fell in love with Taku and are still talking about him a month later! It was a genuine, fun and truly amazing experience. I highly recommend Ebisuya and Taku for a memorable experience in Tokyo.

Dear daojianp,
Thank you very much for choosing Ebisuya Rickshaw to travel around the Asakusa area of Tokyo.
We (and our guide Taku) are very pleased to hear that you enjoyed the tour and overall experience.
Though all our guides receive the same training they all bring their unique personality to the rickshaw ride and therefore make it a unique experience. While Asakusa has a rich history which may be fascinating for adults, there are also many sights and stories the guide can share to keep all participants of the tour interested.
We hope the memory of your tour will stay with you for a long time to come... until you come and 'update' it with another rickshaw tour when you visit again some day.
Kind Regards,
Larissa

Had a great experience on our rickshaw ride with Naimasa. We were picked up at Asakusa station. The ride has been organised for us in advance so we were greeted with a welcome sign with our names! Naimasa was really friendly and knowledgable, giving us lots of interesting history and local facts. We toured around the streets by the temple and down by the river, stopping off for photo opportunities which Naimasa planned for us so we got the Skytree and other landmarks in the background. He also gave us great sake recommendations. Thanks for a fab trip, we’ll be back!

The tour itself had limitations because of the language barrier but our driver Goro Maeno had great energy and gave us a very good experience. What took this from four stars to five was his photography. He bust out all sorts of creative shots, using portrait mode, black/white shots, and even a vertical panorama! His effort and work ethic had to be commended.

Hello as I’m travelling with my husband and 4yr old girl. Can the rickshaw able to seat up to 2 adults and 1 toddler?
Written 24 July 2019
I wouldn’t put a toddler onto a rickshaw with 2 adults
There’s not enough space
I suggest you take the little one yourself
Then maybe leave her / him to be minded by a family member whilst you and your husband take a ride
It’s fabulous
