A great time for first timers.
Our tour was great. Sebastian was engaging and informative. We went around to enough places to get a nice sampling of the area and the local food, but not so many that we were exhausted. The food choices were wonderful. We'd definitely do another tour in the future.

In Kytoto do the Pontocho tour, skip the Gion kaiseke
We did two "foodie" tours in Kyoto with Arigato. The Gion tour with Kaiseke was a complete bust and not value for money - give it a miss, but the Pontocho Alley tour was a winner. Our guide was Thomas and he was terrific. We experienced a wonderful variety of food and enjoyed some cultural history as well.

    Highly recommend!
My parents and I really enjoyed the Tsukiji market tour with Sandra and Makki! This was one of the things I was looking forward to in my first visit to Japan, and I am glad to have done it -- not only do we get to try the sumptuous seafood (which of course was expected), we also get a primer on both the history and culture surrounding this humble little market. I guess we were also lucky to have both Sandra and Makki along as they're able to provide both a foreign and native perspective to the experience. As a result, we enjoyed Tsukiji so much that we visited the place 2 more times on our own just to make the most out of our brief stay!

    An amazing experience
Kay is a gifted tour leader. She struck up a strong rapport with us and quickly worked out our interests. She guided us around the market picking out delicious local delicacies for us to experience. The oysters were amazing. She added thoughtful touches to the tour and we learned about the Japanese language and customs as well as the cuisine culture. At the end she provided a wonderful picnic of some of the food she had picked with us and it made a lovely ending to a memorable morning. Initially we had not been sure about the tour but Kay made it one of the best things we have done on our holiday so far.

    Incredible Time Experience Local Cuisine
Had the most incredible time on a retro food tour of Osaka with Akiko! Not only did we have some incredible bites, like okonomiyaki, udon and kushikatsu, we were able to experience local games and shops (we loved the demonstration at Tower Knives so much, we went back the following day to purchase a set)! Akiko was really informative and really showed us a part of Osaka that we would've otherwise missed. Eternally grateful for such a fun experience!

Fun family food tour in Ginza neighborhood!
We had an amazing food tour with Arigato Travel last night in the Ginza neighborhood. Our guide, Kaz, was fantastic, highly recommend him! We got so many cultural insights and tips, as well as eating some delicious snacks and meals! A highlight for us was the stop at a small Okinawan restaurant, where we were treated to incredible tasty food and a cool atmosphere (and an unexpected live musical performance) that we never would have found on our own. We also really enjoyed the dessert stop for seasonal daifuku mochi that was so yummy! We really appreciated Kaz's relaxed but informative style; my kids (16 and 13) enjoyed learning from him. Would definitely recommend this tour and Kaz in particular to English speakers who want to get a sense of the food scene in Tokyo.

    A Great Food Experience
Kevin was a first class guide for our food tour. With just the three of us it was a very personal experience. We learnt about both the food but also more about the Japanese culture. We not only visited a variety of food experiences but also a few other cultural places of interest. I'll not say we enjoyed everything we ate but that was about our taste - we tried a number of foods we would not have ordered in a restaurant and some we enjoyed! One of the restaurant/bars he took us to became a 'favourite' and we revisited it on a couple of occasions to eat: we would never have found it without Kevin!

    Wonderful food tour experience!
We had a wonderful food tour with Ray, our guide. He gave us an overview of Shinjuku area, taught us some Japanese etiquette during meals, and had an interesting walking tour aside from trying different kinds of food. It was a 3 hour lively tour and you must go with an empty stomach coz there is so much food! It was an experience exploring restaurants/bars in Golden Gai. Thank you!

Great experience to try all kinds of Japanese cuisine
We had a private tour with Ana and another couple from UK. We walked the Gion and Pontocho areas and visited sweet shops and several restaurants. The food was fabulous, the refreshments were fantastic. We have used Arigato Tours previously and will sign up again for another foodie tour!

Tasting interesting and off the beaten track
Absolutely fantastic food tour with Kevin. He managed to exceed our expectations which were already quite high after 7 weeks touring. The food was delicious and his knowledge of the area amazing. Kevin led us down alley ways which were well off the tourist trail. Making us feel like guests not simply customers it was a great evening. Strongly recommend both Kevin and Arigato tours.

    Food glorious food
Our food tour of Osaka with Akiko of Arigato Travel was not only enlightening and informative, but delicious. She picked great spots to eat the specialities Osaka is renowned for, plus showed us hidden gems in this never-ending energy city. Thanks for a great time! Highly recommended.

    Shibuya food tour with Clara
Clara was an amazing Tour guide. She took us to back alley areas and places in the very crowd impacted Shibuya area that were not really crowded but excellent places and value. We especially enjoyed the stand up Sushi bar. Her sole focus was to make sure that we had night to eat that evening.

The tour was excellent and very informative. The tour guide, Josh, was extremely helpful not only on the tour but in giving us tips for navigating Tokyo. My daughter , 15, was not quite as interested, however still loved the tips for navigating the city. For adults interested in learning Japanese cuisine this is a perfect tour. The food was great too.

We really enjoyed the food tour with Michie. We gained an insight into Japanese culture and ate food that most tourists don't get to see. It was very varied and we really enjoyed it. It is more than worth the price and is made all the more enjoyable by Michie's friendly company. We can recommend it to anyone who wants to experience something really special on their trip to Tokyo.

Wow! We have been on two tours with this company during our stay in Japan for our honeymoon and honestly everyone should experience one to get the best out of trying Japanese cuisine. We did a tour in Tokyo and Osaka - our tour guides on both occasions were incredible! Very knowledgeable and with good tips on the best places for certain foods and nightlife. All of them spoke very good English and even helped us with our Japanese! The food places we visited were places we would likely have not found ourselves amd were gems hidden down side streets and away from the bustling main streets. We were both introduced to food we might not otherwise have tried - so definitely recommend being adventurous! Would 100% recommend and will definitely book another if we return to Japan in the future.

My wife and I booked the Flavors of Japan Food Tour in Toyko in late May of 2023 and we had an excellent time with Satoko! Some things were familiar to us and some weren't but it was amazing to be able to try so many authentic Japanese ingredients all within a few blocks. Everything we ate was amazing and we left the tour feeling very full, so have a very light breakfast beforehand.

We took the Flavors of Japan walking tour in September. While our guide was pleasant and provided a history of the area as well as information on the sites we visited which included a Shintu shrine, the tour was lacking in the variety of Japanese foods. This was my husband's first visit to Japan and his first taste of true Japanese cuisine. I was hoping that he would have a more robust culinary experience especially for the price! In general, we were pleased with what was served but there were no dumplings, egg rolls or sushi for example. While these are the basics so to speak, it was disappointing not to have them included. We have participated in a number of food tours around the world and in comparison, this one was mediocre at best.

Jacob was a great tour guide, friendly and informative. We enjoyed the foods, especially the variety at the first isakaya, and the location and atmosphere was great! Dessert was also special, and we learned a lot about tea in between!

II would like to say how much I enjoyed my Arigato Food Tour, (Flavours of Japan) of the Nihombashi area of Tokyo on the 26th of April. Ramona and Mandy were charming, knowledgeable, and informative about Japanese food in general but also about the area we were touring. They explained the importance of regional food taking us to specialty stores and shops where we were able to try some or at times the only product they sold. We had delightful lunch at a restaurant I cannot recall the name of.
Ramona and Mandy did not rush us and the tour was actually longer than advertised.
Excellent tour guides and an enjoyable tour.

Had such an amazing time with this tour. It was a fantastic opportunity to try so many dishes with great company, chat and new friends. Our guide was Alex and I really enjoyed his approach to the whole tour and how generous, energetic and open he really was.
