Discover the wonders of Japanese seafood on this walking tour and cooking class. Tsukiji Outer Fish Market is huge and can be difficult to navigate, but you won’t have any problems with your guide to lead you. This tour has the ingredients for a hassle-free day with transport, food, a drink, and cooking class equipment provided. An amazing way learn about, cook, and eat Japanese traditional food.

What to Expect

Your Tokyo walking tour and sushi class begins by meeting your guide at a location near Tsukiji Outer Fish Market. Enter the market, and see the huge variety of fresh fish and seafood on offer—from sea urchins to crabs, to octopus, and giant tuna. It’s a real feast for all the senses and there will be some samples along the way.

Next, this seafood extravaganza takes you to local shops where you’ll be educated about Japanese kitchen tools and accompaniments. Time permitting, you may even get a chance to go to a shrine.

The tour progresses to a cooking class at one of the largest culinary schools in Asia, where you’ll learn ‘washoku’ recipes (traditional cooking). Dishes usually include a sushi roll, a Japanese omelet, and side dishes. The day ends with eating what you created for lunch, with your choice of plum sake, wine, or soft drinks.

I would estimate the distance walked on this tour is about 3 city blocks. The fish market area has narrow wet walking pavements. The cooking class could give her a chair if needed. It’s a fun tour and class!
