Small-Group Full-Day Easter Island Highlights South and East
US$ 115.00
Overview
Unravel some of the mysteries of Easter Island and its spectacular ahu (stone platforms) and moai (monolithic human figures) in the company of a guide on a stress-free tour from Hanga Roa. Enjoy free hotel pickup and drop-off and receive personalized attention in a small group of no more than eight. Plus, you'll travel long distances with ease, going from the fallen statues in the south to the towering monuments of the east.
What to Expect
Begin your day with pickup from your hotel. Make sure you are carrying your pre-purchased national park ticket (not included). Meet your guide then settle into the air-conditioned minivan to head south.

Make your first stop at Ahu Huri A Urenga, a single statue with four hands aligned to the sunrise at winter solstice. Head farther south to the Ahu Vinapu, where skillful engineering suggests contact with the Incas, then to the coastal area of Hanga Poukura, home to rough lava rock formations and several statues mysteriously buried in a line, with only the backs visible.

Take a break for lunch (not included), before heading for Rano Raraku. This crater functioned as a kind of factory where most of the island's statues were carved. Since the workers stopped, the hundreds of statues left behind haven't moved.

The final stop is Ahu Tongariki, the island's biggest ahu with 15 mighty moais. Your day ends with drop-off back at your hotel.

Hi Manda, I'm glad to hear you thoroughly enjoyed the tours you took with us! About the mixed languages, such is the case among all of the tour agencies of Easter Island, and some even do three languages. We don't get satisfied just by being...More

Best way to see the moai stone statues & Easter Island highlights in a day!

I was in Easter Island for only a few days, to do stories for my La Carmina travel blog, and I didn't want to rent a car and stress about directions and logistics. I'm so glad I booked a tour with Easter Island Travel. The...More

Sightseeing

Tour was good. Guide was very knowledgeable. They furnished a snack, sort of lunch. We ate at a cafe so you could buy something else if desired (and that was the only bathroom stop). We walked about 6 1/2 miles. This is info you might...More
