We were delayed because their website wasn’t working, forcing us to check in and print our tickets in person. There were only two or three staff members available, and since it was quite busy, the process took a long time—but fair enough.
The real issue began when we were stopped before security by a staff member to check our bag sizes. easyJet seems to be the only airline that does this before security, and frankly, it’s an embarrassing policy. Travelers are already stressed trying to navigate security and passport controls in time. On top of that, many people (myself included) keep items like liquids and medications in a separate bag to present during security screening—yet easyJet insists on seeing everything packed inside the main bag, causing even more delays and confusion. What makes this worse is that bags are checked again at the boarding gate, making the extra hassle unnecessary.
To make matters worse, the staff member handling the bag check was unreasonably strict and, frankly, rude. While I understand I may have come across as stressed due to our delay, I politely explained that we were running late and asked if we could resolve any concerns at the boarding gate instead—especially since the security line was overwhelming. Despite this, she seemed intent on wasting more of our time and appeared eager to charge us for an extra bag. For context, the bag in question was a small handbag containing essential items like medicine and food, which should be allowed under their policy.
We eventually made it through without additional charges and caught our flight in time, but the entire experience was unnecessarily stressful and caused me severe anxiety.
After this experience, I will never fly with easyJet again.
