My first experience with Copa was in August. I was headed to Colombia and the flight was significantly delayed resulting in me missing my connecting flight in Panama and having to overnight in Panama disrupting my initial travel plans. How they handled it was fair and I was feeling ok about purchasing another flight with them. In December, I was traveling to Peru for work and was scheduled to fly out on the 26th. Arrive at the airport and the Copa ticket agent checks my passport and checks me in. After 40 min in TSA due to it being the evening of Christmas, I get to the front of the line and was informed by TSA that the agent never put my airline/flight # and incorrectly added my birthday. Ok no problem, I'm given a paper to go back to the agent so they can correct it and would be able to go straight to the front of the line. We'll all ticket agents left the desk and went to the boarding gate. No one was willing to assist me subsequently resulting in me missing my flight. If you're still reading this, keep reading... I had to wait an hour for my luggage and couldn't do anything because customer service didn't open until 5am. I drive the hour back home wait until 5am and call to find out the earliest flight I can get on is later that evening, it would cost me $100 and they can't rebook me on my returning flight that i originally booked unless I paid $900 so I would have to extend my time in Peru. The ticket agent error cost me around $800 additional to my original $1600 ticket, not to mention my time. After going back and forth, I was offered a $250 voucher and $95 refund on my changed ticket fee. I'm an avid traveler for business and pleasure- the way in which customer service handled this situation was very poor.

Bad customer service.

One of the worst airlines

I am very disappointed with Copa Airlines. I’ve had a few flights with them lately, they are fine on short distance, but absolutely horrible long-haul. I’d understand their low standard if it was a budget airline, but their flights certainly weren’t cheap. I had a 7hour flight from Panama to Las Vegas. There was only one meal, no snacks, as you’d get with most airlines. But what was shocking is that they don’t have any special meals. As a vegetarian I couldn’t select vegetarian meal in advance, assuming they’d have a veggie option during the flight. How wrong was I! The two options they had was beef and chicken. Just as well I had the sense and bought something (overpriced) at the airport, so I wasn’t left starving the whole flight. I was very disappointed though, at this day and age special meals should be automatically included. There is more and more people vegans, gluten free, and sadly they are not catered for with Copa Airlines. Their staff doesn’t seem to be well trained or have basic customer service skills either. Felt like they selected a few spare people at the airport, threw them into the plane to act as stewards. One was walking around and shouting like he was at a market stall, the other two seemed to be more interested in sharing their personal lives than us as paying customers. And another shocking part of the flight was that there are no screens on seats. For a long-haul flight. The only option was to connect to their Wifi, which was free for the entertainment channel, and watch it on the phone. With own earphones. Which was hard since I needed to charge my phone and had only wired earphones with me. The government in Panama is trying to entice tourists to visit their country, promoting it everywhere, but they should first look at their main airline. I wouldn’t go back to Panama if I had to fly with them again.

Worst airline ever.

Worst airline ever. They did not provide accurate instructions, and the bus to the gate was late, so they closed the plane door knowing that we were on our way, and did not let us on. They then cancelled our flight, kept lying to us about who to talk to to get us out of the airport, lied about how to rebook, then charged us for rescheduling. They all lied throughout the process and did not care at all.

Horrible costumer service. The prices vary by thousands within 12 hours. I called Monday and they told me the change would cost 1000$ dollars then 12 hours later they told me 3000$. It would have been cheaper for me to book a whole new flight through the website. The supervisor also refused to talk to me when I asked to talk to someone. The company is a pure scam. Not to mention the delays, the horrible food and old planes. I will not be flying with them next time.
