I booked my roundtrip flight with United Airline and flew on Swiss Air (departure) and Air Canada-AC (return). At the time of booking, the checked bag was listed as $75 one-way and Swiss Air charged me exactly what it stated. However, Air Canada charged me $85.20 for 1 checked bag and when I asked it why? AC not only refused to explain but also did not issue the refund of the difference. On the itinerary, AC listed the checked bag as from 75 USD and it basically said that because it said from 75 USD, AC could charge 85.20 USD. AC conducted dishonest business by not honoring the price for the checked bag. The itinerary was generated by AC later and it was contradictory with the amount at the time of booking.

I will not fly Air Canada again every! The legroom is bad, the attendants were grumpy, the plane was too small and they unloaded our bag and many others because of weight restrictions before departure. We had to stand in a long line waiting for one attendant to claim a lost bag. She said this happens all the time they dont know why they keep booking the small plane it can never get all the bags on board. They guaranteed delivery of our bag in 24-48 hours we keep getting notifications that is being delivered at a certain time and it never comes. We have been waiting now over 24 hours and not notification and no phone call.

Air Canada is the absolute worst. Booked a flight to move back to Brazil with three cats. Called them about a dozen times to make sure everything was covered. In ORD, male staff member was rude and told me I had to pick up my pets between flights in Montreal. My original flight was 45 min late to Montreal and I missed my flight to Brazil because they would not put my cats and luggage on the plane even though I was there 30 min ahead of time. And the guy in ORD was wrong about my having to pick up everything between flightsafter all. Staff are unhelpful and dismissive and clearly don’t care at all about the animals they transport or the customers themselves.

I have been flying for both work & leisure for more than 40 years. In that time I have experienced almost everything that can go wrong with air travel (except a crash!), delays, lost luggage, cancelled flights, aborted landings, severe turbulence, etc. But I have never experienced such terrible customer service from any airline as I have recently with Air Canada. 4 flights in 10 days & every one of them was delayed, a 100% failure rate! The last flight was cancelled after a 5 hour delay in Toronto. It was then 3.30am, after being in the airport for 7 hours and their staff were incompetent and wholly unprepared. I can only conclude that they either receive zero training or they are trained in how to make matter worse for everyone, including themselves! Contradictory messages, announcing that we had to go to the 3rd floor, then changing their minds 20 minutes later to tell us we had to go to the ground floor, trying to rebook us from what was a direct flight, with a connecting flight with a 12 hour stop over in a different city, the staff on the ground floor refused to deal with rebooking or hotels, because in their words, "their manager told them not to". The person on that desk took over 20 minutes to print 2 food vouchers because he walked away from the desk twice to speak to other staff and took a phone call - while we were standing there. Then the manager tells us that if we don't like "what they have done for us then we'll just have to go back upstairs and handle the rebooking ourselves". Such stellar customer relations! Back to the 3rd floor where we were then told NOT to speak to anyone at a desk but to go and use the telephone. There is more, but I'm now boring myself ..... but the coup de gras after finally arriving to London 20 hours late was they somehow managed to separate our luggage and put my partners luggage on an entirely different flight arriving 12 hours later! This is not a serious company - avoid at all costs.

Without doubt the last time we will ever get on an Air Canada plane. Flight was cancelled "due to maintenance" and rebooked by them for an arrival 10 hours later. Delay compensation denied as it was "not their fault". Baggage was not transferred to new flights that they booked. That was a total disaster. No bags arrived. Two days of calls until we convinced them that the bags were still in Toronto after they told us it was everyone else's fault and we should call them. Nine month old baby had no formula, diapers etc. but no action from Air Canada. Baby did not take well to need to change formula. Eventually one bag arrived on day three of our 4 day trip. Baby stroller, car seat etc all still in Canada. Was to be urgently fedex to us but Air Canada sat on that for two more days. Finally agreed to hold it at airport for our return. That didn't happen. One AC person said it was in one place at the airport then we got there to find it was already sent to fedex. Why were we surprised that AC told us for the 50+ time that it was all under control when it was not! We must be suckers for some positive news no matter how false. Now we expect baby safety needs will arrive around 3 days after we returned to Canada. Thank God alone that we got back safely and still praying for the return of our goods. We now have to apply for the costs of the delay baggage. I am sure that we will get nothing back because the last time we had a problem they promised a $500 voucher that was accepted and we are still waiting for it to arrive after 6 months! Just don’t fly AC to avoid all this and have a happy flight and pleasant service from any of their competitors.
