The surveyors who chose the site in 1820 admired its beauty, laying out the town with Main Street facing the Cowee Mountains to the east and the Nantahala Range to the west. Though ringed by rugged summits, Franklin was linked to population centers by well-worn trails. It soon developed into the market center of southwestern North Carolina, a role it retains today, especially for the building trades, furniture, and jewelry. Richly blessed with gems and minerals, the town was once touted as the “Gem Capital of the World.” Franklin is also justly proud of its crafters, including quilters, woodworkers, potters, basket makers, and glass artists. The Franklin Press, founded in 1886, is the oldest business in the county. The Macon County Historical Society, operating in the old Pendergrass Store, and the Franklin Gem and Mineral Museum are perennial favorites with tourists. Franklin is also a gateway town for the Appalachian Trail, which passes nearby, attracting hikers almost year-round. Franklin showcases the rich commercial and community history of this North Carolina mountain town. FYI from Vacation home rentals We have over 50,000 unbiased guest reviews by real guests. Can't wait to go back!!
Our family of 9 had a wonderful stay. Plenty of room and no one was on top of each other. The cabin was beautiful and the owner, Jerry, was the best!! I spoke with him a couple times and he stressed that if we had any type of problem - day or night- don't hesitate to call. We enjoyed walking out on the front porch or the back porch and seeing mountains!! This Florida gal is used to nothing but flat land and to see this scenery was awesome. We did one of the gem mines and returned with some great finds! All in all, if I could give this cabin and Jerry a 10 or more star rating I would!! We're already planning our next vacation!

Ridgetop Manor
This house is incredible. The massive front porch was my favorite!! We had a large group for my daughter’s graduation and the house was perfect for us. Jerry, the owner, was wonderful to work with. We would love to come back when we have more time to just sit and enjoy nature and the view.

Perfect
Absolutely beautiful cabin! Any minor issue we had, Jerry was only a phone call away. He was/is the best! I even accidentally left a small bag in the cabin and he is willing to solve that problem too! No one wanted to leave. This was all the kids' first time in the mountains and they were a little skeptical at first. But after just a few hours, they were in love. We will definitely make this cabin an annual visit. The view is phenomenal!

Gorgeous property on N.C. mountains, a true Franklin Gem!!!!
Ridgetop Manor is a treasure in Franklin! A beautiful property with a well thought layout that encourages family gatherings around the kitchen, living room and fireplace. Our family had the privilege of staying for Christmas week in 2017!!! Each day was a true blessing!!! The house was very comfortable for our group, mostly adults and small children and we had great memories of our trip! From cooking all together, as kitchen is well equipped with everything we needed and more (coffee machine, blender, slow cooker, pans, pots, BBQ, among others); takings walks around the property, roasting marshmallows in the fire pit, plus driving to town and nearby attractions. My nephew (4 years old) and my niece (1 year old) also enjoyed their time playing daily with toys, board games, coloring books and even watching movies all provider by owner! If you like to explore, like our family…during our time in Ridgetop Manor we visited Nantahala National Forest, Scaly Mountain, Maggie Valley, we took a ride on the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad, and even took a day to visit Asheville since it’s only an hour and 15 minutes from the cabin! One of the aspects we enjoyed more was seating on the porch to just relax and enjoy the view, nothing like hearing and seeing Mother Nature and looking up at the bright stars at night! I took several pictures of the sunrises and sunsets. Just awesome! Special thanks to Jerry, the owner, who was always very focus on customer service and above all available to answer our questions and make sure we had a great time! We will definitely recommend Ridgetop Manor and look forward to staying again in the future!

Perfect family getaway
The cabin was lovely, which included a beautiful wrap-around porch and amenities were everything we hoped for. We were a group of 13 including 7 children, ages 6-11. There was ample room for the children to play inside without disturbing any of the adults. The property allowed for daily hikes and included a fire pit for roasting marshmallows. Jerry is the most gracious and accommodating owner who met our every need.

The Perfect Getaway!!
This is such an awesome cabin! The pictures really don't do it justice. The cabin is so beautiful and the details are just amazing! I can tell a lot of work was put in to building the cabin. The kitchen was FULLY stocked (had way more supplies than I expected); all we needed to get were some groceries. Going up the mountain to the cabin is a little tricky, but I quickly learned that it's just important to maintain a 15-20 mph pace up the mountain and then you're good to go! Unfortunately, we didn't have enough time to enjoy the fire pit, but my group and I have already thought about making plans to come to this cabin a couple more times over the next few months because we enjoyed it that much. Also, make sure you check out the waterfalls! They are really close by to the cabin. We were able to visit/hike to 3 waterfalls in one afternoon. We also stopped by the nearby brewery, which had the best onion rings and really friendly people! All in all, we had a great weekend and Jerry was extremely helpful through it all! Thanks again Jerry!!

First of all, our dealings with Jerry were absolutely incredible! This is the place to stay with your family. Warm, cozy, comfortable, clean, and so much more. I can't say enough about this cabin. How is it possible to get all the good things wrapped into one?!! It's peace with nature and all the comforts of home. Thank you Jerry for sharing this amazing place!!!

A HEAVENLY VACATION
Our family finds a place to stay every year for our vacation! I found Ridgetop Manor browsing the internet and called Jerry immediately, thinking the place would already be rented for the week we wanted! To our pleasure, it was available and the deal for the week was just incredible! Thinking the pictures were old and not knowing what to expect, we arrived and were blown away at how beautiful this property was and how beautiful the whole area is! Then we walked inside and I found my personal heaven! The most beautiful house I've ever had the pleasure of staying in. Everything was exactly as described, everything was furnished, and Jerry was just a phone call away and checked to make sure we had everything we needed! Absolutely the best vacation we ever spent together for so little money! Everything was close by and even has a Ruby Mine at the beginning of the drive! We found our mountain vacation home here and made a great friend with Jerry and his wife and can't wait to go back! Thanks Jerry for a vacation we'll never forget!

The real deal
I was skeptical that a place could have such amazing reviews until the moment I came over the hill on the long winding driveway up that amazing mountain and saw the sign for "Cabin 6". The house, simply put, is incredible, extremely clean, and VERY spacious. Among it's many amenities, it has a massive wrap around deck that's perfect for late night drinks and early morning coffee. Full kitchen, 6 bedrooms, including a huge master bedroom with sitting area and bathroom, this house is unbelievable. There's a great fire pit next to the property that's behind a small area of crowded trees so any light from the house is blocked out, leaving you with an amazing view of the milky way. As a city-dweller, I have to say, nothing quite compares to the sound of nature and burning wood. Jerry is also an incredibly professional and easy-to-contact owner. He was available via email / phone every step of the way, sending me ideas for food and entertainment. This was without a doubt one of the best vacations I've ever been on, if you're looking for a massive and secluded property to catch up with friends and family then look no further. Honorable Mentions: -The downstairs area would be perfect for kids to congregate and sleep and play, it has it's own bathroom, 2 beds, and a massive table for games. -You won't have much cell service on the mountain (I consider this a plus) but the WiFi in the house is powerful enough to keep 10+ people online. -The view of the mountains on the front porch is better than TV, but if you need TV, there's a huge one in the living room with VCR/DVD player and cable, we alternated between the fog covered mountains and the olympics. -Should you need to get off the mountain for a few hours there are plenty of great places to eat less than 10 miles from the mountain, also, Harrah's Casino is a quick 40min drive away, and tons of awesome Flea Markets and shops. After our stay Jerry made sure we knew that the house was our new home away from home and he means it and I believe him!! I hope this review helps anyone make their decision, this place is the real deal.
