We having been going to Tuscany and using this villa for the past 5 years , the villa has everything you need from fully equipped kitchen , washing machine etc to a private sun balcony in which you can sit watching the stunning views of the mountains . The only point I would say is you do need a car being so far up the mountain but we pick up our hire car at (pisa airport ) then drive up to villa , in the villa you will find plenty of tourist information on places to visit , places to eat etc, which is great especially if you haven't been before. I would recommend If Tuscany is for you check out this villa simply superb.

Thank you for your great feed back! Thanks again for booking this year. You are correct in your review - you really do need a car in this beautiful location to take full advantage of the local market days, restaurants, towns and cities. We are always happy to help plan your time at the villa apartment. We can help with tours, special interests or just give you the benefit of our 12 years in the area.

About the neighbourhood
Why this location?
We are a Scottish family with a passion for Italy and in particular Garfagnana, Tuscany. We bought this house in 2001 with a view to spending more time here. I lived in Italy in the early 90's as well as working as a tour guide for 5 years throughout Europe (specialising in Italy). This region in Northern Tuscany was my first choice in location for a thousand reasons - the main one being that I thought it was the most beautiful place I had ever seen! Our children have been holidaying here 2 - 3 times a year from being only weeks old! We would love to share this special place with you and I am always happy to talk about Italy and help you plan your holiday.
What are the unique benefits of the property?
The purity of the air is something you notice only when there are no more coughs or wheezes to be heard from my asthmatic husband and children! The peace and quiet, the views out of every window. The fresh seasonal cooking in the restaurants (porcini mushrooms, wild boar, truffles, home made pasta and their wine that is often included in the price!) are always a gastronomic highlight of our visits. The village is home to only 23 people in the winter but the summer months are filled with friends and relatives of the villagers - home for festivals or to escape the intense heat of the city. We have international friends with Irish, Scottish, English and German neighbours with holiday homes here. There is an outdoor 'Cena' (dinner) every August held in the village square in August.

How to get there
From Pisa airport take the 'Autostrada' toll road (approx. 4 euros) on the A11 then A12 to Lucca. Head into the centre area (not inside the walls) and look for blue signs for Castelnuovo di Garfagnana. (Visiting Lucca is a must see!) Follow these signs onto the road out of Lucca (SP20) for 14 km. At Gallicano follow the signs for Molazzana - this is the SP41. You will leave the valley floor with the river Serchio on your right hand side and start to ascend into the mountain for 4 km to Molazzana and onto Brucciano (a further 3km). Drive into the centre of the village and park in the only car park. With your back to the view (over the valley and mountains) look up and you will see the stone villa with some yellow plaster exterior and green shutters. The entrance is through your private garden and up the path (easier) to the terrace or enter via the external stair (15 steps approx.).
