Temperatures in Macon are moderate all year long. During the winter, January and February see the lowest temperatures, ranging from lows of about 30 degrees to highs up into the 60 degrees Fahrenheit range. During the summer the warmest months are July and August, with temperatures starting at about 70 degrees Fahrenheit and reaching up into the low 90s.
March is a great month to visit, especially if you are interested in seeing the city’s 200,000 Yoshino cherry trees in full bloom during the Cherry Blossom Festival, which takes place during the last 10 days of the month. Visitors during that time will be treated to more than 500 activities around the city, with everything from hot-air balloon rides to a giant parade with floats and marching bands. Large crowds are pretty much guaranteed, so book your accommodations well in advance. Or, wait until April or May and come to see the blooming camellias, dogwoods, and azaleas amidst much thinner crowds. There are also plenty of garden and historic home tours during this time of year. During the fall, visitors come to see the hardwoods change color.
