Hubba Hubba

Hubba Hubba is a smokehouse with an attitude.  This is a great new dining experience in the  Hendersonville/Flat Rock area.  It's located behind Rainbow Row which includes the Wrinkled Egg, Hand in Hand gallery, Chicken Little and, of course, Flat Rock Bakery.  You can smell the meat smoking before you even park the car.  There's brisket and chicken and barbecued everything.  The sides are at once traditional and new:  cole slaw (Asian maybe?) baked beans, collards (grandma's never tasted like this) and cornbread with something different -- whole corn?   On Fridays, there are fish tacos that taste like cerviche in a tortilla.  Yum!  There's a great outdoor space in which to dine and on Thursday afternoons from 3 to 6 pm there's a tailgate market in season.  You won't  find just tomatoes -- there are strange looking local mushrooms and grass fed beef and fresh from the coast shrimp and the biggest sunflowers ever.  Several times during the summer, there is free music--everyone brings lawn chairs.  Hubba Hubba is part of the most interesting community of shops, eats and merchants you'll find this side of Charleston.
