With its location near the Gulf of Mexico and not far from Texas, Lake Charles tends to be a hot, humid place with plenty of precipitation. Summer temperatures often climb well over ninety degrees, although there will be plenty of thunderstorms and shows to help cool things down and break up the humidity, at least for a while.
Even in the dead of Winter, it is usual for St. Charles' weather to hover in the 50-60 degree range, only sometimes dipping lower. Snow is very rare, if not almost unheard of, in these parts. Summer-like weather prevails well into October and by April, 80 degree weather is once again very common. Fortunately, there are several major beaches to cool off at. The rainiest months are June, and late May, and there is also a spike in precipitation during the early winter. The city does get more sunshine than most U.S. locations, and humidity is fairly constant, well above the national average, throughout the year - just somewhat more comfortable during the more temperate winter months.
