The temperature in Coral Gables is almost always ahead of the national average, and this gap becomes particularly great outside of summer.  As with all Florida, Coral Gables does not have winter weather and so makes a wonderful getaway any time from mid-November to March, especially for Dakotans and Alaskans.  Days with temps under sixty are exceptional, and summers can be hot and sticky with frequent nineties and hanging humidity.

The City Beautiful sees more sun than most American destinations, but when it rains it pours—precipitation can peak at nearly ten inches some summer months.  Tornados and other violent storms are extremely rare.

Different events draw tourists into Coral Gables in all seasons…

Summer: The City Theatre’s Summer Shorts Festival has been going on a decade-plus now, running original sketches between five and twenty minutes in duration.  These twenty or so shorts provide a slice of Gables theater life, which is quite vibrant.

Fall: In mid-November, Ramble – A Garden Festival , takes place at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden . An annual event since WWII, visitors are bombarded with tens of thousands of plants for sale, as well as by surrounding music, arts, and food.

Winter: The Beaux Arts Festival at the Lowe Art Museum is a celebration comprised of exhibits and shops, the latter vending thousands of items to upwards of 100,000 patrons.

Spring: The International Tropical Baroque Music Festival has been going strong since the turn of the century, a celebratory compare-contrast of European Baroque with the contemporaneously-composed, lesser-known classical works from Central and South America.
