The temperatures on Aitutaki show a relatively small distinction between summer and winter months. The average low temperature is in the seventies (low 20's C) and climbs towards the eighties at the hottest period of the year (high 20's - low 30 C). The coolest month of the year is August, when the average low is exactly seventy and the average high exactly eighty. The hottest months of the year are January through March when the average low climbs up to seventy six degrees and the average high increases to approximately eighty five degrees.
The rainy season in Aitutaki coincides with the general hurricane season in the Cook Islands. Generally the wetter months begin about mid November and continue through March & early April. This means that most travelers (who try to avoid high precipitation) head to Aitutaki during winter season. A drawback for traveling during summer months, is that there is often much moisture retained in the air or humidity, which can be somewhat uncomfortable to those not acclimatised to these weather conditions. Travelers usually find that April, May and June are preferable weather-wise to visit Aitutaki.
