The weather in Medina (also called Madinah) is dry throughout the year, with extremely hot summers, and warm winters.  Certain months can be much more comfortable for being outdoors during the day than others.   In July temperatures can be over 40 C. Because of the heat, life during the summer months does not get in pace until late afternoon. 

On average, between the months of June and September, the daily high temperatures reach above 100-degrees.  The heat is oppressive during these months, and people tend to avoid walking around outdoors during the daytime unless they are attending mosque for prayers.  The nighttime temperatures during these months will generally only drop to the mid 80’s. 

The winter months are milder but still hot.  The coolest months of the year on average are January and February, during which time the daily high temperatures will reach the mid 70’s.  The nighttime temperatures during these months will generally drop to the mid to lower 50’s.

However, most visitors to Medina will have little choice as to when  they visit the city. As they will be on a pilgramage of either Hajj, Umrah or visiting during Ramadan, the times of these events shift each year. At this moment Ramadan is taking place in September, with Hajj between November to December. Visitors on Umrah who have young children tend to go during school vacations. 

Saudi Arabia is a very dry place, and Medina is no different.  On average, less than an inch of rain will fall throughout the year in the city.
