Kaliningrad experiences the mildest climate in Russia. It is the only Russian port that remains unfrozen throughout the year. Summers are perfect times to vacation in Kaliningrad, when visitors can take advantage of the miles of sandy beaches. Winters in Kaliningrad are much more tolerable than the infamous harsh winters of Moscow and St. Petersberg. The climate remains, however, relatively cold. The hottest months are July and August when the average high temperature is in the lower-70s. During this time the average low temperature is in the mid-50s. The coldest time of the year is December through February, when average high temperatures are only in the low- to mid-30s. Average low temperatures at this time are in the mid-20s.

Precipitation is spread out evenly throughout the year. Each month receives, on average, seven to ten days of rain. In the winter, the rain turns to snow. December, January, February and March each see and average of at least six days of snow each year.
