Geneva's high altitude tempers what might otherwise be extreme weather conditions, resulting in pleasantly warm summers, mild winters (with temperatures not going much below freezing), and year round rainfall.  According to New to Geneva, travelers to the region may experience either the Bise (very cold wind) or the Foehn (warm wind), depending on the season.

Sunny days aplenty in July and August can be enjoyed by the visitor who doesn't mind sharing them with throngs of fellow tourists.  Fodor's suggests scheduling trips for June and September to keep the (still) warm weather, but lose the crowds (and also benefit from slightly lower hotel prices).
