Some of the most scenic biking routes are outside of Beaune.  The area is known for its romantic vineyards as well as spectacular scenery.  In addition, there are a couple of châteaux that shouldn’t be missed.  Just 30 minutes by bike to the south of Beaune is la Rochepot.  Also, visit the Hotel Dieu and stop at the various sites in Dijon as well.

A recommended trip is the Route des Grand Crus, which starts south of Dijon and extends through Vougeot, Gevrey-Chambertin and other notable vineyards before arriving in Beaune.  Other great rides are located towards Nolay, Couche and along the back roads towards Autun (limitless bike routes here)!

Don't even think about missing a visit to le Patriarche in Beaune for fantastic wine-tasting.  If fine dining is your thing, go to Les Millesime  in Gevrey-Chambertin. Ask Didier the sommelier to give you a peek at their cave – very impressive!

There is also a relatively new route from Beaune to Santenay; it is well signposted and stretches along scenic back roads passing through major wine villages in that part of Burgundy.  It’s only about 20 kilometers in length so it won’t take great effort. It links at Santenay with the 'Voies Vertes' (Greenways) of Southern Burgundy, which are traffic free routes along the canal towpath or a disused rail track – a  nice and relaxing stretch of road.
